Hunter P was like a magical druid of apartment location. I've tried other groups claiming to be effective at hunting for habitats, but was filled with such dwelling-seeking-despondency at their blundering attempts that the next time I was due to migrate and again wanted to try to enter the stormy seas of low-cost central Austin non-super boringly ugly housing with close proximity to kimchi fries, I thought I'd have to do it myself, even if I had to comb each neighborhood block by block, collecting leasing information for each property passed by, by hook or by crook gosh darn it. I knew it had to be possible to find what I was looking for - but where? How? Would the only way be to ask a unicorn for sage advice or something? I combed each street. I called each office. Some units weren't available any longer; some had to've been ridiculously incorrectly underpriced for the sadistic glee of illogical jerkbutts; some just got taken right as an appointment was scheduled to visit. In my forlorn frustration I began to google things, feeling like a beginner wielding a dowsing rod, but by some wild chance there was this inexplicably perfect property, and the person to contact actually contacted me right back and bam next thing you know I met with this gentleman at the site, Hunter P. He was very engaged and knowledgeable, but also super chill and made you feel like this was a good dude to have in your corner. Maybe some consider dress code or what have you in how they rate a meeting with someone like Hunter; maybe one would expect a button-down and slacks or whatevs. Hunter was rocking a T shirt and shorts and I walked off kind of thinking he had been wearing a suit. You see what I mean about maybe being a druid? But the unit got snatched, so I sighed and thought oh well, I'll have to try another way less awesome random googling because there is no way this dude will follow up. But he did, immediately, and found me an even better place, exactly what I asked for, not some lame pseudo-attempt. He also was super nice to me without making a thing of it about me being handicapped, and stepped up when the lease needed to be signed and I was sent to the wrong place - he had no idea what I was talking about when I called him but he found out right away and sent me where I needed to go, cheerfully. Some other people have left negative reviews on here; I dunno anything about the experiences they're describing, but if you see his name on some "Contact" link when looking for an apartment, you should call this magical wizard and next thing you know you might be living in the bodacious pad of your dreams. My wife and I recently went to look for a lease house on our own. After having no luck, we decided to use Austin City Realty. We were helped by Neil Walker, the person in charge of showing homes. He took his time with us and made sure to go over properties that were in our price range and met our needs. Like with any home search we witnessed some strange houses, but we finally found the house we had been looking for. Neil was integral in helping us through the process of finding a lease home. He worked diligently on the paperwork afterward and was kind and courteous throughout the entire process. There was absolutely no pressure on the part of Austin City Realty to find a house. The laid back and honest approach was nice given some of the other realty companies we had met in the past. In one week we found the perfect home, got the papers signed and we're packing our things to move in. We couldn't have asked for a better experience. I contacted a Realtor from a craigslists ad, and just like 10 other Realtors Abby Robert called me back about my inquiry. My husband and I were at our wits end with 98% of the market already rented, so when Abby told me the home in the ad I was inquiring about was not what I was looking for and that she would look around for a few places that met my criteria, I let out another disappointed sigh and truthfully did not expect to hear back from her, one reason was because it was late Friday before a holiday, and because I assumed she would be like all the others I contacted and never take the time to get back. Quite to the contrary to my surprise, Abby went above and beyond searching the depths of Austin, dedicating late evenings to fit in to mine and my husbands crazy work schedule, negotiated our terms, and delivered the most stellar customer service that me or my husband have ever received with a Realtor. She was warm and inviting, and despite a few issues on our credit report, always treated us like her most important client. I worked w/ Douglas Goff after seeing a listing he posted on craiglist. He was super proactive from the get-go, especially considering virtually my entire search had to be done online. I only had 1 day to physically look at places in Austin, but before that he was extremely willing to take videos for me and drop by to see places before they got leased by others. The Austin real estate market is high demand-low supply right now, and I was pretty picky on the price-to-location value. He worked w/ my strict criteria as best as he could, but I actually ended up choosing a place that I found on my own. If I had a more flexible moving schedule, I think he could have been of more assistance to me. There are 2 reasons I did not rate his services as 5 stars. The first is that I could detect bias on which places he wanted me to lease at. His bias seemed to be more based on his anticipated commission than the actual quality/value of the units. It made me question his opinions on the apt. mgmt. companies, etc. The second reason is that I found a couple units on my own fairly quickly that made me question how extensively he searched for my needs. Overall, though, I was pleased w/ my experience, and I'd probably use his services again. read more

There I was, scared out of my mind at the prospect of finding a new place to live. Where do I look? I thought of trying Craigslist but, having been scammed out of money 10 or 20 times before, I decided to try another route. That's when I got an e-mail from Austin City Realty. At first I thought, "hey look another e-mail to delete, CLICK". But, like devine inspiration, I decided not to click delete. Something deep down, like the guttural whispers of Cthulu told me to give them a chance. I mean, what was the worst that can happen? After a few rounds of thorazine, the voices stopped and I e-mailed Austin City Realty, asking about this cute place I saw on their website. I got a call that following Monday from a very nice young woman who declined my request for coffee and she put me in touch with John McCallum. Now, John is one stand-up dude. Not only did he help me find a place to live - finding me a number of places that suited me, driving me around to check them out, and being a generally cool and knowledgable dude - but he also helped me pull a litter of kittens from a burning building. My boyfriend and I recently relocated from Brooklyn to Austin. We were really unfamiliar with the city, and had very little luck with another locator at a different realty company. I found a glowing review of Ken Swanson on Yelp and decided to reach out. From the moment I contacted him, Ken was professional, courteous, organized, and extremely helpful! I can't say enough good things about our experience working with him. Our challenge is that we were going to have to arrange for housing BEFORE getting to Austin, so the apartment would be sight unseen to us (aside from floorplans, pictures on the Internet, and walk-through videos Ken made especially for us.) Ken really listened and followed up so quickly. Ken was able to help us get a sense of the lay of the land and match us up with an apartment that we totally love. We were able to narrow down our extensive search to a place that satisfied our needs--and stayed in our budget. We've been in our new apartment for one week and it gets better every day. My wife and I were very pleased with Ryan Matthews. We were building a house and chose his program where they buy your existing house in the event it does not sell. He was my Realtor for both selling my existing house and buying my new house. I was a little skeptical at first because he does not charge a fee for selling your existing home. But he came through with everything he said. He spent a lot of time with us during our buying/selling process. Ryan ended up finding the buyer for my existing house, and he did not charge for any side of the transaction. He could have easily charged 3% for the buy-side. This was a Big Savings for us!! We had a few issues with the builder and Ryan came through with his advice as well as going up the chain with our builder. He gave me advice on resale value when I was choosing my lot. I did not have any of the bad experience's Farmer J. had. Of course I could have hired a Realtor that would have spent more time with us but they would have charged 6% for selling our house and then get 3% for my new house. Ryan received the 3%, which the builder paid. I would take the $12,000 saving any day. read more

She was very understanding of my stress about moving across town. My recent experience with Austin City Reality was definitely a positive one. After finding an ad on Craigslist, I sent an email requesting information about a low-cost apartment with a quick move-in, something that seems pretty hard to find in a big city like Austin. I did have to be a bit tenacious in setting up an appointment (phone calls worked out much better than emailing), but once I was there, Richard York showed me around to four different apartment complexes, and we finished just in time for me to get a phone interview that I couldn't afford to miss. I felt very comfortable with the experience, which was my first time using an apartment locator at all. I am writing this message because I had a great experience working with Mark Storey. I came to Mark about one week ago with a specific rent budget and he was able to find me an apartment that well exceeded my expectations (writing this message from there!). I felt very comfortable working with Mark, as he was very friendly and straightforward throughout the process, from visiting various properties to giving me his opinion on which property he thought was best from a tenant's perspective (for example: this property is in the shade, so the electricity bill might be lower, and this property is right on the street, so it may be louder than other properties, etc). Neil Walker at Austin City Realty was a real find in helping me search for a rental property in Austin for my mother. He responded quickly ( which is a plus as no one else responded to my online search for a realtor ) and was always available by phone/email. He was prompt in our appointments for showings, was professional to work with and was patient with our laundry list of needs for a prospective rental. Only use Matt Sivley, everyone else will throw you to the side. My mom was looking for an apartment and had a really hard time getting assistance because all the agents were "busy". I was in a desperate situation myself because i have and eviction AND a broken lease. I found Matt on craigslist and emailed him at 10pm and right away he had 4 options for me. Steven is without a doubt the best realtor out there. He contacted me within a day, and set up appointments within three days after. The places he showed us were badass, and he was willing to take the time to get to know us, our preferences and professionally accommodated our requests as they frequently changed (i.e. price range, number of roommates, location). He has the hook-up for every place, is willing to negotiate price when possible on our behalf, and graduated from UT so knows it, as well as the Austin area very well. ACR was quick to get me an appointment, and my agent, Andy, was knowledgeable and helpful. He sent me emails beforehand with the properties in my price range so I knew which ones I wanted to look at and didn't have to spend five hours running around in the heat to look at every last one of them. My agent seemed a little overworked, but always answered my phone calls and emails promptly. Because I was in a hurry to get a lease signed and get the hell out of dodge, he even let me drop some things off to him at his home on Saturday. I called Austin City Reality today to inquire about a rental property. I spoke with Matt Zacakosa. It ended up being way out of my price range, since my boyfriend and I just welcomed our baby girl into the world. When I told him it was a little too expensive his happy, helpful tone turned to disappointment. "Well, what's your price range?" I let him know.
