I was trying to depart to Chicago, and the train on the opposite platform departed. The train that was NOT on the "to Chicago" side. The next train isn't for 2 hours. Probably because there isn't demand since they pull crap like this. So I had to order an expensive Uber back to Hinsdale (and the driver doesn't know how to drive; I avoid taking car shares whenever possible). Awful train service. Never again. Being the last stop on the route has some perks - you can come early to board the train and pretty much pick any seat you want. You can also sleep and not worry about missing your stop. The BNSF Metra train to Chicago Union Station operates out of this station. There are 2 daily parking lots and I have been able to find plenty of parking at the lot that's off of Lincoln. Prior to 8am, there seems to be plenty of parking. Around noon, there are still a few spots left in the lot. Parking cost $2/day and you just type your license plate number into the machine and insert bills, quarters or credit card (extra fee applies when using credit) and you get a printed receipt. There's a tunnel from that lot that goes right to the train. One-way ticket to Chicago Union Station is $8 and the 10-ride cost $72. Weekend unlimited ride costs $8. What a great way to get into the city from the far western suburbs. The Aurora Transportation is just the ticket with ample parking and easy access on and off the trains. The Aurora stop is the last (or first) stop on the trek to and from Chicago and Metra offers a very safe, quick and inexpensive way to get to the city. Monthly parking is tough to get onsite but there are neighboring lots across the street that had available passes for very reasonable rates. It sure beats the traffic especially with all the construction going on now on the Eisenhower! When you return home, the "Roundhouse" is even onsite where you stop in for a drink or meal. There are also a few small businesses such as a barber shop and coffee shop for your convenience. Whether you're commuting to the city for work or heading down for pleasure, the train can be the way to go! read more

To be honest, Aurora Transportation Center has been improving, but very slowly... the new bus lanes are great, but they mean more walking for park and drivers. The bathrooms are *cleaner* but you'll still find stuff on the floors (and not just toilet paper...). I have commuted via metra from multiple other train stations, and although I love Aurora, this place could continue to use some tlc. read more

So last Friday, I left my purse on the train post Happy-Hour. I know I know. Chrissys should be more careful and not just LEAVE. their. PURSE. on the TRAIN. But one martini and I was down for the count. Literally. What does this have to do with ATC? Oh right. They retrieved my purse! I love them solely because when I called for the 4th time (on Wednesday), they were all, "heeeey we've got your purse," and I was all, "WOO-FREAKIN-HOO!" and everyone lived happily ever after. It only took 5 days, some serious worrying, and obsessive credit card balance checking. So the perks of ATC? Excellent customer service. TONS of parking. And the ticketing window is open until 8:30. So that I could retrieve the aforementioned purse. AND the location is inside the historic roundhouse which is BEAUTIFUL. Forgive the excitement guys. Convenient to my house, easy in and out when my husband drops me off and I always get a seat on my trip into work, what can I say other than perfect. Of course, this is only my second week commuting so I'm sure the upcoming winter will bring its own set of complications but for now this is the easiest commute I have had. There seems to be ample parking for the commuters, certainly for monthly permit parking, I can't say anything about the daily parking availability other than the fact it is only $2 per day and who can complain about that? If you have to go into Chicago, use public transportation it is relaxing, convenient and affordable! read more

This is a great train station, as long as you don't need to park here... But I feel like that's the case for basically all Metra stations as the entire parking infrastructure is totally overloaded. I wish they'd just build huge parking decks at 'em, as clearly there's demand... But, what can you do. Anyway, the people at the ticket booth are friendly, it's clean and well lit, there's a bustling barbershop, coffee shop, AND it's attached to the Two Brothers Roundhouse which is perfect to swing in for a beer, sandwich, or whatever else- particularly as they've expanded to add the cafe side of things. One tip for people who don't ride the train often- Aurora is the end of the line, so it doesn't matter what side of the tracks you are on to get on the train. Station is a dirty, unfriendly, poorly run mess. The ticket office is never prepared at the end/beginning of a month for people buying monthly train tickets. You will often see only 1 of the 2 lines open. What makes it worse is there always seems to be a homeless person or shady character in the building. Once you are up you realize the ticket sellers are likely depressed and about as friendly as DMV employees. Parking is a joke, there is a 2 year waiting period for a monthly parking pass which are closer to the trains. This results in most users having to buy daily parking at the 4 automated kiosks located on the main road through the parking lot. So cars stop and block the road to buy their ticket making it dangerous for other cars and pedestrians going to their trains. If you plan on catching a train home around rush hour getting out of the parking lot is unpleasant. The only way to make a left turn is to exit at the light which is shared with the post office which as you might expect as rather popular at that time. Traffic will get backed up people trying to get to the post office will likely be blocked at the intersection resulting in another very unsafe area. While the station is big and it has a few stores inside as has been pointed our by other reviews it gets no points from me for that. From a safety and convenience standpoint it appears that absolutely no thought was put into this facility. The only good thing about this station is it is connected to the Roundhouse so a good meal and alcohol is a stones throw away. read more

My favorite 'hub' to Chicago. This is about a 2-hour drive from Madison, and offers train service to Chicago and other suburbs. We love this alternative to drive into Chicago directly, saving you previous parking fees downtown. I have read on reviews that parking can be a nightmare, but we have never had parking problems all those times we were there, which were holidays and/or weekends. In fact I thought parking was cheap, only $6 a day. You can just get a day ticket at the self serve machines. To park multiple days, just get the required number of tickets. Train services are frequent enough. I like their weekend pass, which is $7 and provides unlimited train ride throughout one weekend, perfect for recreational commuters like us. There are also express train services which skip most stops and takes you to your destination faster. A drawback I find is that the train tends to be on the slow side. Having taken high speed trains in other parts of the world, this is an area that falls short, but this applies to trains in the US in general and not just trains from Aurora Transportation Center. Even though the trains are slow, the seats are comfy, so the journey is still good. We get the double decked trains with plenty of seating on both decks. I was impressed with the service as well. While we was waiting inside the station for a couple of friends to make a bathroom stop, a guy came to ask if we are catching the train which was leaving. He saw us in the station and was afraid we would miss our train! I would come back whenever I am planning a trip to Chicago, and I can take this opportunity to explore Aurora malls and its surrounding small towns, which has lots of good food too ~~ read more

In short - nonsense private bus drive - no passenger drop off at the station - removing parking lot access - no parking lot lights - bottle neck taxi parking - perimeter fencing with no reasoning - no turn lane into the station off a busy route Now let me explain in detail Let's start with the new two-lane wide private bus drive which is rarely occupied and doesn't have the occupancy to support it. How about removing the area to drop off at the station directly (for those needing to purchase a ticket). Private bus drive took the space & signs posted everywhere not to stop or stand. Where do you expect people to drop someone off?!? It poses a bottleneck and its only a matter of time before an accident. To continue from the last comment, I can only imagine the conversation went like this, "Hey Larry, you know how cars can take an alternative path down the parking to avoid pedestrians dropped off by the train? Well we're going to remove it." Congratulations team, you've reach skill level moron. Parking lot lights are not functional, not one. So temporary lights have been brought in. But just two for a large parking lot and none offer light close to the train itself so be careful using the stairs. And one of the temporary lights has a light out. Brilliant!! Let's put the taxi stand directly in the Kiss & Ride drop off area and allow the taxis to sit there during rush periods. Genius! How about a fence that herds pedestrian traffic down the private bus path and limits access to the train and to the station, well you've done it! This is a major transportation center yet no right turn lane into either entrances off route 25. Were the approved drawings created with crayons? You read that right, major entrances off a busy road and no right turn lanes. Congratulations team! You've successfully taken a busy transportation center and turned it into a disaster. I can only hope some major news outlet exposes all of you for how worthless this rehabilitation is and who got their pockets lined with the approval. read more

They reconfigured the parking lot (major fail). It's like a collision course. Won't be using this station again. Only one parking ticket meter so you have to drive up, get out of the car, buy your ticket then look for parking. Inconvenience at it's best in the City of Aurora. read more

This place cold use a little cosmetic work, but otherwise a great place to jump on the train. They have a barber shop, a coffee shop, and a few other little things inside of here. I revisited this facilty on July 30th after coming from a few hours of shopping at Fox Valley Mall, and man, if I could give this place six stars instead of five, I most certainly would. INside the barber shop here, customers getting their hair done were watching movies played on a TV! Haha! You don't see that in a public transit terminal too often! Something else you don't see in a public transit terminal very often is, a large skyscraper-like shelf of books to read. I saw this tall shelf of books, and they were donated by the Aurora Public Library. I sat down in a comfy chair inside here and read a book while waiting for the next inbound Metra BNSF train. And something else that makes this place unique happened during my transistion from the train to the Pace bus to Fox Valley-there was a large festival in the parking lot, but I didn't get a chance to figure out what it was really about. I wanted to, and I should've, because when I got off the bus and walked towards the stationhouse, each of the 15+ tents and the festival attendees had cleared out completely. Pretty decent as far as a train station goes! I've never had issues grabbing a ticket. Parking can be a bit of a chore so get there early. I always try to stop at Two Brothers roundhouse for a beer or coffee before boarding. It's connected and easy to stop at! Jake's bagels across the street is also amazing! read more

Great service clean and a very cool old building. Parking was easy and the train ride to Chicago smooth. Had Jakes Beagles in the morning it's directly across the street to the west and Two Brothers for dinner it's on site at the station.
