Loved this place! Jason is a fantastic stylist! Going back in week for highlights. Met a lovely young Serbian women while breakfasting at the bodacious Stepping Stone & loved her shortish hair cut. She turned me onto Jason, gave me his appt card, I called & luck was with me. Got an appt for the same day! Love love luv my haircut, this dude really got me. I have thinish hair but Jason is an artist, I wanted chic, I wanted movement & a bit outside the box. I don't believe I could have gotten better in SF, LA, or NYC. I found out about Au Salon about a year ago. The first time I went in I didn't have an appointment, but luckily that was okay. The staff were very professional and didn't make me wait. I saw Jori who introduced herself, showed me around and cut/styled my hair. I loved what she did and have been going to Au Salon ever since! I love My Haircut - and I have Claudia to thank for making me look and feel SEXY again at 74 years of age. I live in Brentwood (Bay Area) CA and my husband works and has an apartment here in Portland, OR. This is my second trip to Portland since his relocation here 3 months ago and I make my visits here as long as I possibly can before returning to CA. My husband Bill started going to Claudia before I arrived for my second visit here a month ago and recommended her to me. I have not had a good haircut for many years and have been switching shops and hair dressers and have never been satisfied - forever living with constant bad hair day moods. Claudia has ended my quest for the look and style I have been wanting and I am sooo happy and feel so good about myself now because she took over and knew exactly what to do. I have very short and very fine hair and have had to fight it to get it to do what I want it to do because I never got a good cut - until going to Auric and having her cut my hair as if she had known me and had been working with me forever. Plus the fact she is a darling person with a wonderful and fun personality - a real sweetheart. I leave the shop feeling years younger and in a very light hearted mood after she cuts my hair. She is extremely talented and I highly recommend her - she knows what she is doing and takes charge. I will never get my hair cut in CA again - I will wait until my trips to Portland to see Claudia at Auric. So I wasted my evening getting over to nw for just a consultation. I told the assistant that I could only get my hair colored on a specific day because I work a ton then I leave for vacation. Instead of seeing if that day was still free for services she booked me for a consultation and told me we could book that day later. I get to the consultation and am first quoted 9 hours which is 900 dollars but we could do just purple for 500. I get that dye has to be lifted but I can do that on my own. So before I make the rash decision of laying down that kind of cash I ask her if the date I need it done is even open. Sad to say the answer is a resounding hell no. Booked the whole day and I can't fit in any other days. Needless to say I was not happy when I had to pay 20 bucks when her assistant could have told me she was booked over the phone. It would have saved me time stress and money. read more

I'm currently seeing Meghan regularly for a multitude of services as she handles my crazy hair changes with ease and even takes the time to give me more ideas and explains exactly what she's going to do with each step of the process. Meghan is absolutely amazing! I've never had a cut or color that I haven't liked from her. She gives lots of time and listens carefully during her consultations to make sure that you are getting exactly what you want. She also gives very helpful suggestions that I didn't think of or knew how/what to ask for but my hair always turns out exactly like how I imagined to to be (or better) in my head. Before going to Meghan, I bounced from stylist to stylist because I was never 100% happy with what I got (I'm picky) but will never be bouncing around again. I highly recommend Meghan! read more

Jori is amazing. She has done my hair for nearly 3 years and I've never had a bad experience. Jori even did my hair for my wedding in a very stylized retro fashion. I chose the wedding package so we practiced 3 times before the big day and... IT WAS PERFECT. Amazing, wonderful. I loved my hair on my big day. The funny part is... is that I always feel that way after leaving. She's high lighted my hair, dyed it, cut it... we've been through a lot together and she is amazing. Stylish, personable and laid-back. For as long as I started going to hair salons for a cut, I would always have to repeat to myself that my haircut was a good one. But after I paid the bill, I would always wonder if I would ever LOVE a haircut like other people LOVED thier new haircut. I've been going to Jason for about 5 years. I've converted my sister and multiple friends to come here as well and we all love it. I always come out loving my hair, even if I just tell Jason to do what he wants. I did a bright red washout dye over bleach blonde myself and it ended up not washing out after months, and not even bleach would pull it out, just made it bubblegum pink. Jason ended up doing my roots dark and did a bright pink over the ends. I loved it! I will never doing anything to my hair that Jason doesn't approve of ever again. read more

I have thick, naturally semi-wavy hair. It's unruly at times and unless your stylist knows how to take off weight and layer appropriately, it can feel like I'm carrying extra weight on my head as it feels like the hair gets weighed down. My last cut was stylish but the previous stylist at a diff. salon didn't take enough weight off. Not enough layers and there wasn't much shape to my hairstyle. My experience at Au Salon was great. I rec'd a referral discount (if your friend sends you here, you and your friend both receive $15 off) and found an experienced, knowledgeable staff. They were very conscious of informing me of every little thing they did to my hair, explained all the products that were used. It's a Bumble & Bumble salon and their staff seems to be getting all the continued education they can handle. It's a cute salon with fabulous staff members. I'd give it 4.5, half star off for making me feel like I had to book my next appointments but it wasn't too annoying. I'd be glad to come back in 10-12 weeks for another cut. I'm now contemplating getting a texturizing perm once this cut settles in. read more
