I was extremely impressed with the care I received while staying at Aura After Care. The staff is professional and extremely accommodating. I felt like whatever I needed was not only provided but several of the staff knew what I needed when I didn't because it was the first day after surgery and I was still heavy sedated and my body was still assimilating the invasive procedure I had undergone. I was able to have three amazing one hour sessions in their hyperbaric oxygen chamber machine. Which no doubt aided significantly in my recovery. Tatiana who is the lead technician is by far the BEST most amazing of all. She anticipates what one might need and has everything you could want or need prepared before you even arrive. Her sincere sweet genuine care was heartwarming and so comforting. Boris who is the Director of Services is the kindest gentleman who made absolutely certain I was treated with dignity and respect. He is a man with integrity that truly listens and also genuinely cares. He was approachable and actively orchestrates the facility with the utmost experience and professionalism. Prior to my procedure I didn't think I needed after care but my mother insisted and I quickly realized how necessary it was to be at Aura Aftercare. And I am so grateful for having been able to spend time there while healing. read more

The scenario I describe below isn't something I contemplated going into my surgery, or when deciding which recovery center to book. So I write this post hoping it may spare someone else. TLDR: if you're in pain overnight despite your prescription, they have no options for you. I arrived at Aura AfterCare around 6-7 pm, after a 2 pm surgery. Sometime around 2:30 am, an excruciating headache set in. 8 out of 10 on the pain scale. The nurse on staff said she could not give me more medication than what my doctor's office had prescribed, and that was it. From 2:30-7:30 am, I suffered. It came as a shock to me that a recovery center has no protocol to make you comfortable if you are in pain in the middle of the night. Perhaps I was resistant to the pain medication - I truly don't know the reason I was in so much pain. When I spoke to my doctor the next day, they confirmed that it would've been fine to give me an extra dose for the first 1-2 days postop. So yes, maybe they should've written my prescription differently, but Aura AfterCare had no backup option for me despite taking me into their care with the promise of comfort. Think about that: this is a post-surgical care facility with no one, no M.D., to call when a patient is crying from pain. I am now 2 weeks out from my surgery, and I didn't even finish the bottle of pain medication - so I think I just had a bad first night coming off of the anesthesia. An unknown reason for a bad first night is precisely the appeal of a place like Aura AfterCare. But it did me no good to be there. When I spoke to Aura AfterCare to share my experience, Basim's answer to me was: it was you who was resistant, we did our part by giving you your prescription. They kept my full payment. The facility was clean, and the staff the night of my stay and following morning was friendly, polite, and professional. read more

I had a very good experience staying here after a surgery in December. Christelle and Yana and Denise and Kat were particularly helpful during my 2 nights here, as was Boris with the HBOT. The care is excellent, and the food was healthy and delicious! My only advice is that the private room and bath I had does have a supply room/supply closet inside the bathroom so the nurses will need to be in and out of that room more often. Not a huge problem for me as I was I was post surgical and they needed to come in a lot to medicate and check on me anyway - but if I came for a longer stay, I'd ask for the room without that supply room involved. All in all, an excellent experience and I couldn't have done it without them! Christelle in particular was the standout for me, as far as really excellent and thoughtful care. Every single one of them there was very supportive, kind, knowledgable and helpful! The driver was wonderful too, who took me from surgery to Aura and then also to Dr. Dubrow next day for check-up. I had back surgery and came out of anesthesia altered. I went to Aura Aftercare and the nurses were very kind and sweet. I was having difficullty urinating due to the catheter being removed , so as a retired nurse I have experienced patients that have the urge to urinate but can only go a little at a time. My concern was, not only was I a bit out of it still, apparently they had given be one of my own valium, and later in the day a anti spasm med, then part of a pain med with my daughters consent when they called her. They said I was anxious and I am sure I was due to the urination issue. So between the anesthesia and all the meds (I am a lightweight) it didn't help So maybe more training for the nurses. Yes, yes, yes! I do recommend this aftercare center. My plastic surgery clinic gave a list of different aftercare options. This one was recommended the most. I checked reviews on Yelp, and they were pretty low. I tried to find someone else, but it was not successful. Other clinics were either more expensive, too far away, or had a lot of extra charges. So, I trusted my surgery clinic and I was picked up by Aura After Care after my surgery. Oh my God! Thanks to the whole team who worked with me. All staff were super positive, lovely, and so caring! I had surgery for BBL, all-body lipo, and breast adjustment. I was in so much love with everyone. They were super helpful, walked with me, and caught my vibe. Thank you, professionals. I had a bad experience here and wouldn't recommend it. The entire place seems run for the bottom line, rather than care for the patients. I booked a night here, with the option to extend to two, but I hadn't realized just how grueling both my surgery (it took three hours longer than expected) or recovery would be. I showed up in much worse shape than I thought I would be, with sky high anxiety and uncontrolled pain. While a couple of the nurses were caring and patient, others were not, treating my panic at some post-op care with callousness at best and irritation at worst. One night nurse was particularly unpleasant, telling me I just needed to get over my anxiety and answering my questions about when my next pain pill was with "I'll give it to you when it's time." (I think I may have overheard her even telling the other staffer on duty to not answer my buzzer.) I understand that anxious patients are really annoying, but come on. Some of the medical assistants did not speak fluent English, either, which added an extra layer of difficulty, since it's not like I was communicating particularly well. More than once, I had to repeat a request so the staffer would understand what I was asking. In general, it seems like staff were chosen for budget reasons, rather than competence, and the couple good nurses I got were mainly due to luck. Meanwhile, my room was next to the staff kitchen, so it was constantly noisy, and there were what looked like blood stains on the carpet and curtains. After my two days were done, I was in no shape to go home, and they did not allow me to extend my stay. My surgeon's coordinator had to scramble to find another place for me to stay, with no help from Aura. I was told that all this had been discussed with me by the owner and I'd agreed to it, but I don't remember being clearly told I had to go. Normally I'd chalk it up to just being on a lot of pain drugs, but with the poor quality of the rest of this place, I'm really not sure how clear that conversation actually was. read more

I stayed at Aura AfterCare for a double mastectomy. I was there for a few days. I am no stranger to nursing care and hospitals. After looking at their reviews here I was a little nervous, but I feel compelled to report that I never had such amazing after care in my life. My experience at Aura was exceptional not just good. Tatiana, Joanna, Alyssa, Cheyenne, Jen, Marina and I'm probably forgetting a couple-- were all superb. I have no idea who the chef was, but thank you also. The care was much better than over 20 other medical stays I have had throughout my life. To begin you have 1 - 1.5 private nurses to each patient. Each unit is only three patients. This makes for high level of care. While there I did have a medical issue that needed attention they all worked hard to help resolve the issue fast. There just is no way to really quantify that. It's words on a screen to the reader but if you are a patient than you understand. Healing can hurt. These people are lovely. The room was well appointed. I had a queen bed with lovely linens. Facts-- I probably would have slept well on a rock given my state, but this bed and the linens felt like I was a guest in someone's home. Of course I managed to spill my amazing smoothie all over them on day one! I also utilized the hyperbaric chamber a couple times during my stay. Highly recommend this. There is a reason elite athletes sleep in these. The process was smooth and Tatiana really explained what to expect. I'm normally a little claustrophobic, but there is a large window. Give it a try. Additionally the staff were exceptional with my guests. Having family and friends around during recovery is really important and the entire staff were lovely at accommodating them as well. Also the rooms are plenty big enough for multiple people. Honestly, I don't have a negative sentiment about my experience. Perhaps they are replacing some carpet soon?? This was just exceptional all the way around. I had drains post surgery and drains are-- not exactly fun. They were again attentive and made sure I left able to handle what I needed to. I would definitely stay here again. In fact one of my guests is planning a surgery and will be staying at Aura AfterCare. Thank you to the group for all the support. I stayed here recently for one night after my surgery (May 21st) and I just wanted to review the nurses. Toshi, Katia, Carrie, and Jasmine were SO caring, kind, compassionate, understanding, and helpful in every single way. Very on top of my meds, checking in, etc. I was so grateful to have them during this time considering my surgery was a pretty serious and painful one, and a night cost me $2k. THANK YOU!!! Definitely needed THAT kind of care! Please keep these four around...such sweet, compassionate, hardworking nurses. I'm very appreciative. The last two nurses I had morning of before checking out - I believe their names were Ojeri and Denise - looked annoyed, didn't want to be there, didn't feel like listening to my needs, etc. I wasn't even a difficult patient, they just looked annoyed in general and didn't want to be there. I had an 8 hr facial surgery. I used Aura Aftercare for my first night post-op. They get two stars total for the lack of general competence and experience in nursing and medicine (IMHO). I literally felt like I was in the care of a bunch of 1st year nursing students with zero real life nursing experience and zero "adult" supervision. At one point the "lead nurse" says to me, totally exasperated "I don't know what else to do" and I'm thinking, "exactly", then she asks me if I felt safe, and I honestly answered no. I didn't ... at all. Everyone was well intentioned, but I was worried that if anything the least bit challenging showed up, I'd be in serious trouble staying there. Maybe go here if your doing a minor procedure but this isn't for anyone that requires a serious aftercare environment. read more

From the minute I got there I had almost one on one care by a nurse and a CNA 24/7. The staff could not have been nicer and my every need was taken care of as if I was a celebrity! Just stayed two nights at Aura AfterCare and can not say enough good things about it. I work full time and am a mom of four so this was truly a little vacation for me. Every single staff member was so kind and knowledgeable and went above and beyond. Literally the NICEST MOST CARING STAFF I have ever encountered. The care given here is exceptional. They picked me up from surgery, drove me to my post op appointments, and took care of every single need. The delux room was immaculate, spacious, quiet and perfect for healing. The food was exceptional. My husband stayed with me and was eating short rib, salmon, omelettes, the works. He said everything was a 10/10. All of the smoothies, oatmeal, foods I could eat were delicious too. I loved that I was able to do red light therapy and the hyperbaric oxygen chamber while there too. When it was time to check out they made sure I was comfortable and knew how to do all my after care and meds. Phenomenal! It's been more than a week since I left Aura and I still can't stop thinking about the staff. I could NEVER have gotten through those first two nights without the skilled care, years of experience and expertise the team of nurses at Aura had. To be crystal clear to those reading the negative reviews some people have left: This is not a hotel. This is not a restaurant. This is a RECOVERY CENTER, and yes, its expensive. What you are paying for is the level of care, the YEARS of experience and the intense level of patience these nurses have. If you are recovering from a surgery that is so intense that you can't recover at home alone, the team of nurses at Aura are the highest level of care anyone could hope for. These women are healers. They have seen it all and they are unflappable in their professionalism. As far as the facility itself, yes, its very nice. It's impeccably clean. Its very comfortable. My room had a lovely view of Wilshire blvd. But all of that is secondary to the nurses. They stayed up ALL night with me. They checked on me every 20 minutes. I spilled an entire bottle of water in my bed at 3 am and they had to change everything, and they did it all with the most genuine smile and gentle touch and most positive energy. I will never be able to thank them enough. Miriam, Cheyanne, Kat, Marina, Gerri, and Blanca... I'll never forget how hard you worked and how you made me feel beautiful and healthy when I was at the most difficult point of my surgery. Thank you. Thank you. I would not recommend Aura aftercare. Definitely not worth the money. My surgery went long, so the transportation that was supposed to be included was actually $400 extra. I'm giving two stars because a couple of the helpers were good. But majority could do better. The first night the nurse was microwaving all of her personal food right outside my door for way too long. One helper had a major attitude with me, and one came in and grabbed me by my stitches. I stayed 2 nights, but should have left after the first day. Not the best after care. read more

I can't recommend Aura enough. They were prompt in transferring me from the surgery center with the absolute kindest and gentle driver and nurse. When I got there the room was incredible. Everything was very clean and neat. Exactly as the pictures show. The nurses were soo sweet and attentive. The food was well presented and available 24/7. Honestly, I should've stayed two nights! I felt very safe and my pain was well managed. I had an option between their facility and another and honestly I chose Aura because it was cheaper but I did not feel the least bit shorted of a 5 Star post op experience. I stayed at Aura Aftercare after surgery. I stayed for a few days and made daily trips to my doctors office for follow ups. I cannot say enough amazing things about the care that I received. First off, the unit I stayed in was spacious and lovely. My room was so comfortable and the food was very good. The nurses there were so kind and comforting. I am not someone who feels comfortable being taken care of and I had my eyes done so I couldn't see well at all. I was in such good hands! They drove me and from to my follow up treatments - were always there when I needed them. I received the royal treatment. My wife and I choose Aura Aftercare after her surgery as the primary care facility until she was ready to come home. We didn't know anything like this existed, but let me tell you, this business was so helpful and necessary for my wife's care, recovery and comfort. The facilty was impeccable and felt like we were staying at a 5 star hotel. The nurses was extremely experienced and attentive. They even put an extra bed in our room so I can stay with my wife. We felt loved and wanted and we didn't want to leave! They even have a head chief that prepared all of our meals just the way we wanted. When my surgeon asked me if I wanted to spend a night or two at a recovery house I was all for it it I failed to ask questions...big mistake! I got safely from my surgery center to Aura Recovery a little late I believe well after 10pm. I was given a button to push and someone came every single time to help me to the bathroom and administer a Demerol shot even. I was baffled as to why when I was helped to the bathroom why I was being wiped from back to front I mean really intensely and EVERY SINGLE TIME this was the case back to front and inside my vaginal walls I kept praying I didn't get a yeast infection. Breakfast was well prepared and I was given plenty of fluids but imagine my utter surprise when after only a few hours I was being handed discharge papers. I totally assumed for $2000 a night there was a 24 hour care and I was even more baffled when asked how was getting to my hotel and they weren't providing transportation there! Had I known then what I know now I would have told Dr. Obeng NO thank you on the recovery house suggestion. Never again Never ever again read more

I stayed at this facility overnight on 1/5 with a possibility of extending an additional night or two. I had extensive surgery, implant removal and tummy tuck and I wasn't sure on how mobile or immobile I would be afterwards. I arrived at the facility around 6 to 7 pm on 1/5 and the first couple of hours were somewhat uneventful, with two night nurses on duty. Unfortunately, my room happened to be right next to the kitchen and to say it was noisy, would be an understatement. The microwave kept beeping loudly and the door kept getting slammed all night. The phone was ringing continuously, and the two nurses were speaking so loudly, you would have thought they were at a concert and could not hear each other. Even when they came into the room, the head nurse was almost shouting, not sure if she's hard of hearing or what the issue is, but needless to say, every time I dozed off, I was jolted awake by some noise or another. I complained to them both several times and they just shrugged and said that I was next to the kitchen and they could not do anything about it. How about use your inside voice and not slam the microwave door or open it before it starts beeping, if you know it's keeping patients from resting. Then middle of the night, the most horrific thing occurred when the hospital bed, on its own started going backwards. As you know, when you have the type of surgery I had, you have to be in a "nest" position the entire time, so laying flat on your back is a complete no no. I started screaming as I was completely immobile and since I had breast surgery, I had no upper body strength to lift myself up. I was halfway out of the bed and almost on the floor in total agony, when the junior nurse came in and when she saw what was happening, became so frazzled, froze for a second and then ran out of the room to get the other nurse. She had no idea how to lift the bed even though the remote was on the table! The few minutes I experienced while they were gone, were sheer terror and pain, I shake even now just thinking about it. The other nurse finally came in and lifted the bed via remote and said "oh wow, that's never happened before". Nothing else. Needs less to say, it happened again several times through the night and every time I felt I was going to die. Imagine my position, groggy from anesthesia, on pain killers, in terrible pain and left alone with a malfunctioning bed. I spend the entire night crying, I have never felt more helpless in my life. Every time I called for help, the junior nurse would come in and then she would promptly run out to get the other one. Sometimes it took ages, and I'm not exaggerating. She would say she was with other patients and by the end she seemed highly annoyed of having to keep coming in. In the morning a different nurse by the name of Karissa came in, and she was a god send. She was in the room, comforting me while I was crying, when the bed started folding inwards right in front of her! She immediately sprang into action, grabbed the remote and then unplugged the bed. She was beyond shocked and wanted to know why the night nurses hadn't already done that and left me with a malfunctioning bed that could severely hinder my recovery. She ran out and called a supervisor who came over and apologized profusely and assured me that "this would be dealt with accordingly" as well as the fact I would be compensated somehow for what I had to endure. She offered to move me to a different room, but by that point I had already called my husband and there was no way he was going to allow me to stay there another night. He felt terrible at what I had to go through that and that he wasn't there to help me. Incidentally, the tv was not working either, it took a different nurse the next day to have a look at it and it turns out that the "box was not turned on" or something to that effect. Small thing in the scheme of things, but part for the course of this entire experience. When I got to my doctor's office the next day, he wanted to know why I hadn't been shown by one of our nurses how to empty my drains. I told him I had no idea that was one of the things that I had to do as no one at Aura had even mentioned that. He frowned and said he would call the owner in the next couple of days and speak to them about that, since that's a very important thing for a patient to do. What else can I say, other than this was a very traumatic experience. I came to this facility while I was in my most vulnerable state and instead, I was left with PTSD from a night of horror. What's worse, is that no one has reached out to me since to offer an apology or anything. I am shocked at the lack of care from a place who's sole purpose is to care for patients at at a time when they need it the most. read more

I stayed at Aura Aftercare after surgery on June 15th. It was very hot that day and the air conditioning in my room wasn't working. I asked repeatedly if it could be fixed or at least get a fan. I was in a total sweat all day and night. Nothing was done. There was carpeting in the room so the hospital style table wouldn't slide easily which meant if the attendant didn't leave the table near me I couldn't reach my water, call button etc. The light switch was on the bedside lamp which I couldn't reach and often I couldn't reach the call button when they forgot to move the table back over the bed and I just had to wait until someone checked on me which wasn't often. My room was next to the kitchen so it was noisy with laughing and talking and clatter. Hard to sleep through. My door wasn't clicked closed so I could hear all the clatter but they couldn't hear me if I was trying to get their attention. On occasion I had to wait fifteen or twenty minutes after ringing the bell so someone could unhook me from the leg compressor and help me to the bathroom. The food wasn't good at all. I was woken up around 6 to be asked what I wanted for breakfast at around 8:30. Most of the staff I encountered were pleasant but I would not recommend this facility. read more

I recently stayed at Aura for two nights following a tough surgery. I was highly impressed with the care I received. Nurses were knowledgeable, caring, and attentive. And this is 24/7. I needed help during the night and with the push of a button, you have immediate help. All meals were provided with options to choose from. The facility is like a luxury hotel. I had a king size bed and TV with a large bathroom. Extremely comfortable accommodations. My husband was allowed to stay with me which meant the world to me. Just left Aura Aftercare today after a mommy makeover & they took great care of me. I had a very bad experience at Pearl Aftercare in April so I was a little hesitant but the stay was very different. The nurses at Aura were very attentive & immediately available for anything needed. Very nice & warm demeanor, I definitely recommend them & would stay again. read more
