My niece sent me here while I was visiting and I shall forever be grateful. Best doughnuts and soft pretzels I have ever had anywhere. ANYWHERE! The doughnuts are double the size of most doughnuts and doubly good. The pretzels are huge, butter basted, warm and delicious. It's not inexpensive but the tastes will cure you of any sticker shock. I spent $40+ for 1/2 dozen regular-1/2 dozen chocolate dipped doughnuts and 6 pretzels with dipping sauces and didn't regret a penny of what I spent. Came back on my way out of town and got a pretzel dog and pretzel for breakfast as well as some doughnuts for later. The food trailer in some of the pictures has been replaced by a building on the edge of Troyer's parking lot. You order at the window and most times there's going to be a line. It's a takeout business so you are on your own if you want to eat right away. The folks are friendly and efficient and orders are filled quickly once you get to the window. If you want to get a preview just search Auntie Ruth's on YouTube and enjoy. It's how I learned that there are a bunch of them in East Tennessee. I just know that if I didn't have enough incentive already to visit my niece then Auntie Ruth's finishes the job. read more

If you're expecting a typical every day donut coming here you're very wrong... These donuts are huge and they're a little different than a regular donut shop. It seems that they glaze all of them and then they top it with which ever one you decide. I got the espresso one but ended up wiping off most of the frosting because it's just too sweet. But it was very good. I also got the pretzel which is also ginormous. Next time I'll ask for it without salt because even wiping off all the salt it was still very salty but it was very very good and soft. If you don't have time and your rush then don't bother coming here because it was probably about a half an hour wait in line. read more

Best doughnut ever let me just tell you my husband is a connoisseur when it comes to donuts and we'd love to try donuts from various different places and this place hands-down was worth the wait. We waited in a long line, but they moved quickly. They have super cute seating in the back to enjoy your doughnuts. We debated on which one to get and we ended up getting a lot of them and ate every one of them and they were absolutely the best donuts ever. You cannot go wrong with the glazed. It is so hot right off the line super Duper fresh. The cinnamon one was absolutely delicious. I think it was my favorite. The chocolate covered one is a little bit dark chocolate, some more cocoa powderIsh so my husband liked it more than I did but let me tell you we don't give fives and we definitely gave a five to this place hands-down, absolutely delicious. Best doughnuts and pretzels I've ever eaten! Was in town for a few days and wanted to visit all of the local spots. Everyone I talked to raved about Auntie Ruth's and it did not disappoint! There was always a line when I went but don't let that deter you-it moved fast and efficiently and my wait was only a few minutes. They have what appears to be a simple menu but once you smell the fresh bread and sugar, you'll have a hard time deciding what to choose. I went with the traditional doughnut and pretzel with cheese sauce. You can really tell that the items are made fresh and are homemade. Best huge donuts in east TN. The glazed are scrumptious and have a nice vanilla flavor. Usually closed on Mondays but they were open for Labor Day. Beware of long lines as this place is in the parking lot of Troyers and just down the street from Brights Zoo (with the no spots baby giraffe). But the line goes fast as the employees work quickly to fill your order. Feel free to eat your donuts or pretzels on the beautiful front porch of Troyers. I'm from the west coast and can't pass up anything dough related so my boyfriend and I went in search of the truck. You could smell the goodness coming from this truck over all the other food stands around it! We ordered a glazed doughnut and a pretzel with honey mustard sauce. They were both made to perfection! The doughnut was soft, airy and light but full of the sweet goodness I'd expect from a doughnut. It had the perfect glaze on it too! The pretzel was chef's kiss though! It was soft on the inside with a nice crunch on the outside of it. It was buttery and full of savory flavor that went well with some honey mustard dipping sauce. I have been a regular customer for the past 3 years. Quite refreshing to see how they continue to greet and serve the customers with a cheerful heart and always serving a delicious product, no matter how successful and how much they've grown over the years. There is a covered area in the back that just got built, but I think more for the intention to accommodate food fairs that are held during special occasions and weekends. It was the first planned must stop on my list. This java Junkie just had to try one of their limited Espresso donuts. It was light, fluffy, covered in a deliciously sweet & gooey frosting and kissed with espresso. I'm also a Pretzel fanatic & it's so hard to find fresh ones. The sourdough pretzels at Auntie Ruth's are also made on the spot! They're soft with just the right chewy texture and lightly salted to perfection with kosher salt.
