We tried this place for the 1st time last night.. Sat outside under a fabulous outdoor covered patio. One of the owners stopped by the table and brought a sample of the sausage and smoked turkey. Sausage had amazing flavor and not overly fatty or greasy. The smoked turkey was tender , juicy and full of flavor . Dinner we tried the lemon pepper chicken and spare ribs. Both were outstanding. The mac n cheese ranks at the top of my list. The daily veggie was squash casserole.. It was okay but not amazing. Overall we fully give it 4 thumbs up and will definitely be back again. read more

This almost hidden gem sits right off Hwy 280 between our Nations Oldest City of Childersburg and the quaint Marble City of Sylacauga Alabama. They serve smoked and BBQ meats with their own special recipe of BBQ sauce accompanied by homemade side dishes that include Baked Beans with ground beef as well as a Homemade Mac n cheese casserole dish among their most common of side dishes. You have a choice of take out with speedy service with a smile and a small town family atmosphere but just before you walk outdoors you realize the down to earth casual dining indoors with a small indoor bar. Outside they have lots of outdoor seating with darts and live music after 5pm. I think my 2 favorite things to point out about this establishment is the location that sits just up off the highway enough that it feels secluded and private and the design of patio/porch/ceiling fan along with large industrial fans used to help keep customers cool even during the Hottest and most Humid of our Lazy Summer Alabama weather days!!! And second but not last is the Homemade assortment of HUGE Cakes with my favorite of Strawberry ( with real strawberry pieces in the batter and icing ), Kiwi, Lemon, Caramel, Red Velvet And Chocolate each with batter matching the icing and a Flavor your taste buds will Long NOT forget!!! These cakes are now my "Go To Cakes" for Birthdays, Valentine's Day and other Holidays because when we think of Special Cakes... we think of August's !!! The establishment is Always Spotless, personnel and owner attitudes are above friendly and welcoming and the environment itself is perfect for a "Date Night", a Family Night out or Take Out Night But our local secret has also been discovered by Sports Fans traveling Hwy 280 between Birmingham and Auburn it visitors to and from Lake Martin in Alexander City Alabama!!! I was in Sylacauga on business and took some clients out for lunch. They suggested August's Barbeque. I love barbeque and have eaten it all over the south. August's may be the best I have ever had. It was Thursday which is the day that they have brisket. August was in the parking lot tending a giant smoker. My clients greeted him as they are regulars. I ordered the brisket and ribs combo platter. I was a little worried that they only gave me a fork to use as a utensil when I ordered brisket, but I need not have been concerned. It was so tender and perfectly cooked it was truly fork ready. I have never had brisket to equal it and the ribs were outstanding as well. If you are within an hour of this place you have to try it. Get there early as it is not large and fills up quickly. If you go on Thursday, get the brisket at lunch. Don't wait for dinner as I would imagine they run out pretty quickly. read more

I've got to say, the meat is great, but I'm not a fan of the sauce... Can't put my finger on what's in it but it has a weird twang to it. The people are really nice and the service is great. They save the bones from the butts and shoulders and you can buy them for your dogs (I have 2 that love them) A caution... The food is good, but they never can fulfill your complete order. They act like you're not paying for your food. They lie and say they are out of chicken whenever you want to buy more than one. Pathetic!!! Then, the owner tries to insult and attack me online about voicing my opinion. He acts like he knows exactly who I am and what I ordered that particular day when he doesn't. I was looking forward to trying this place. Visited about 11:45 am on a Saturday. Now I'm not sure I'll go back. I may if we're passing by and hungry. So many things wrong. But the good stuff first! Some of the best macaroni and cheese I have ever had! It was really good. I had spare ribs and they were average. Not very tender and very fatty. The rest of the family had pulled pork and it was good but not great. My family didn't eat much of theirs due to the fat. Now the bad. There is a sign outside right by the front door advertising chicken salad. My wife asked about it and they didn't have any. Hmm o.k. The vegetable of the day is corn on the cob. We were all going to order it. They didn't have any. They said it wasn't done cooking. Ok. Let's order a side salad. I think there were 3? dressing choices. None that I liked. Skip that. I would love some brunswick stew though! It's on the menu. Waitress informed us that was winter only. No where on the menu does it say that and why in the heck would it be winter only anyway? It's a BBQ place. I'm going three stars but that may be too generous. read more
