3 stars with 5 star potential. I see, in the coming years, a slight population increase for Downtown Augusta. The growth that the city experiences will impact property, local business, and government offices. This library will also experience an increase in demand for their services, but as I see it, this library doesn't look ready to welcome the changes coming. The building is nice and well organized. The facility is clean, the staff were nice, there were no urine stains on the carpets like they have in Seattle. It's clean, but too clean. There's too much unused space. First: The CD and Movie stock could be expanded. DVDs at thrift stores go for one dollar these days. If a customer damages or losses one, bam! charge $20. Second: There is space to expand book stock. Especially self help, business focused, and creativity books. 25% of those expensive tables on the floor can be stored away until another day. First you need to have something that will attract people. Third: There's too much wall and floor space. Show that your connected to the community. Show and display local art. Give your community something to get excited about creativity. Your library is big enough and nice enough for these things. Fourth: Theres already a Genealogical Society downtown. It may not be necessary to have one in the library on the 3rd floor (but I accept that I may be wrong). Wouldn't it be cool if there were an arts lab, whether it be music or visual, on the 3rd floor instead something redundant? Anyways...just a few thoughts from an outsider.

This was my first time in the Augusta Main Library. Because our society has been inundated with so much technology, I forgot about the many wonders hidden behind the walls of a public library. The library sponsored a book signing event featuring Author Daniel Black (a no-show) and Author C J Lyons. C. J. Lyons is an American physician and writer of medical suspense novels. She gave free autographed copies of her book Blood Stained. She is such a down to earth, free spirited, intelligent woman. C J Lyons entertained a question and answer for an hour and she held nothing back. The conversation outlined her childhood, college experience, career as a physician, and now decision to become a full time author. I am anxious to read her novel and hope to see her in the near future to discuss my thoughts.

I absolutely love the Augusta Main Library. As soon as I moved to Augusta, GA I was looking for a library that was open and equipped with the technology needed to get any work done. The old location, which is located directly across the street was nearing its extinction. This location is really cool. It is large and spacious. The space has a sizable computer area. Upstairs they have several seats for individuals using laptops. You can also hold meeting and mini conferences in the upstairs space. The kids space is amazing. It is bright and exciting. They have the cutest mural on the wall, which is a near a children's reading area. The children's reading area also has a room with a puppet theatre. The seating in the children's area is also bright and comfortable. The Augusta Main Library has tons of books on various subjects. They also have DVDs and Blu Ray for check out. These include the latest releases. The library hosts a Movie Night every Tuesday for adults. The library also does a Movie Night for children also. The staff at the Augusta Main Library are extremely helpful. When it comes to questions about computer, wi-fi etc. You can also rent the venue for events. The space has a few rooms for events and one is even fitted with a kitchen with a commercial size refrigerator and freezer. Additionally, they have audio books. I really like these. Even though there are apps like Audible, I still check these out while hanging out in the library from time to time. Having a library card is a must and the staff makes it quick and easy to sign up. The library has two private lots, but parking is also available on the street since it is located downtown. The location is close to downtown dining. If you could have food and drinks inside, this would be my hangout. It's against the rules, so don't try it.

Seriously, who put their feet on library tables.

Having lived here for a bit I thought I'd take a little trip to visit the local library. The building is fairly new (build in 2010). It's a very nice building with ample parking, and nicely landscaped. After entering the building and looking around a bit, we decided to go upstairs and see what was there. But I have to say I was a bit disappointed, it was hot and muggy. Seems the A/C was not working up stairs that day, never the less the place was packed. Over all it's a nice building with lots of amenities, but sadly it's been beat and road hard. Carpets are stained and dirty bathrooms stink like all hell. The computer areas need some sanitizing wipes. People just lounging and sleeping everywhere. Very disappointing.

The Book Tavern had that wonderful afternoon hum today, the kind that tells you a bookstore isn't…read morejust surviving but actually thriving. It was busy in the best possible way: people drifting between shelves with purpose, a small line forming at the register, and an author set up at a front table signing books while chatting with readers. Moments like that feel like a quiet victory for local culture, a reminder that #LocalBooks still matter and that Augusta shows up for them. I lingered longer than I meant to because the browsing here pulls you in. The front tables were stacked with new releases and staff picks, and the red dot discount display added that little spark of treasure‑hunt energy. The range of subjects is part of what makes the place feel so alive. Politics and gender identity sit alongside fiction and romance, sci fi and fantasy, table games, cookbooks, and a genuinely thoughtful section on Augusta history. It's the kind of curation that reflects a community rather than a trend algorithm. And of course, there's the upstairs. It's one of the shop's best features. Quieter, a little more contemplative, with shelves that reward slow wandering. A busy bookstore on a weekend afternoon is a small civic joy. The Book Tavern manages to feel both rooted and evolving, a place where Augusta's literary life gathers itself and keeps going. [Review 212 of 2026 - 913 in Georgia - 25401 overall]

Man was I lied to when we were able to PCS. Everyone I spoke with RAVED about Ft. Gordon, and there…read morewas virtually no wait, so we decided to make the move. I wish we waited for the other locations we had on our wish list. Applying for housing was easy, but they did not want to work with us. We spoke to different people, who gave us different answers. We had asked for specific amenities (i.e. a fence for our dog, one story, near other families with kids similar in age), but all we disregarded. I'm not paying three thousand dollars for a fence I'm not able to take when we PCS again. We decided to live off post which was the best choice we could have made. You can get a QUALITY rental for the same price of your BAH. I've made friends with a few families on post, and looking at their houses made me feel so relieved that we don't live there. Eisenhower is okay. I like my kids pediatrician and she always puts out referrals for us no problem. I'm actually relieved that their specialty care is out in the world and not there. However getting immunizations here is awful. It's -always- a long wait after you see the doctor. I guess I was spoiled at Bethesda, because they had about five stations usually with two people at each, at least when it came to the kids shots. It was so nice because they could do shots at the same time on the opposite legs. But anyways, scheduling future appointments at Eisenhower is always a PITA too. For parents with kids four and under, they have a program called NPSP, New Parent Support Program. I've met some really nice moms there and it gets you and the kids socialized. They usually have quarterly events, and it's always open to their entire family. The PX is actually pretty nice. We've always had no problem. The food court isn't terrible, but I hear they're opening a Tropical Smoothie in May, praise. The commissary is TRASH, and it's closed on Monday. You'd think that given how big Ft. Gordon is, that it'd be quality products, but it's once of the worst commissaries I've ever stepped foot in. Always, always, ALWAYS check the expiration dates and look for mold. ALWAYS. While I wouldn't recommend anything in Fort Gordon, there is so much to do in Augusta, Grovetown, and Evans. And if you can swing it, live off post. You'll be happier.

When I first moved here, I heard nothing good about Ft Gordon or Augusta. I really like this place…read more It's quiet, but yet has enough amenities to be comfortable. The base is pretty easy to navigate once you know the main roads. Gate 2 is getting a bit busy, but Gate 1 is atrocious in the morning. Apparently, Ft Gordon has the nicest golf course in the Army? I guess they feel they need to live up to the masters. Oh and the PX has a legit Starbucks! I like that I can still collect points on my rewards cards and it's not a main street. Gas is comparable to the rest of the town. I don't notice much of a difference.
