Needed a quick pick me up while I was studying at Geisel Library and stopped by Audrey's Cafe! Got the Matcha Latte (Iced and Less Sweet) for $4.75. It tasted more like milk with a hint of matcha powder, but to be fair I did order less sweet! Next time I would order extra matcha. Personally, I would give this matcha latte a 6/10. I tried Audrey's, located in San Diego's UTC area, today at a catered event. It was delicious! The pastries were huge! I tried both a supersized cinnamon bun and almond- brown sugar, stuffed pastry, similar to a danish. The cinnamon bun looked really good. Glazed and sprinkled liberally with cinnamon. My only critique is the outer swirl of pastry was dry and tough, but then again, maybe the pastry had been sitting for a bit before I got it. The inner layers were divine. Soft, not overly cooked, packed with cinnamon and brown sugar, and surprisingly light, given the size of this treat. The second pastry is something I have never tasted before. It was a flaky pastry, topped with almond slivers, that had a second pastry at it's center, a "basboosa"-like cake. A basboosa is a Mediterranean desert made from yogurt, a selmolina base-flour (almond based) with an almost doughy consistency, similar to a cake but less consistent. The combination of flaky pastry and the hollow center with the "basboosa" was a real treat. I love this bakery!! read more

Audrey's has changed hands. They used to serve decaf...no longer. I liked Audrey's because their baked goods were good and they would heat them up for you. I received a cold dry croissant that is probably processed. The final blow, I finally reached 10 coffees on my punch card and they no longer accept them. Very sad. Honestly, I'm not too thrilled. Located in Geisel library, Audrey's is a good place if you want a quick snack or drink when studying. Came here around 2 weeks ago and got the turkey avocado croissant. I took a bite, and it tasted like it was 2 weeks old. When I deconstructed the sandwich, the avocado was moldy, the meat was rotten, and the paste (or mayo?) that was inside smelled similarly to plastic. Such a waste of money. Hopefully, this business will make sure the quality of its sandwiches are a bit more fresh. Please-- for the sake of health. 2/5 Stars. read more

New coffee place in Geisel library (2nd floor East). Better than Fairbanks coffee carts but not as good as Art of Espresso by Mandeville. I would also say it's a little better than Starbucks simply because Starbucks is too sweet for me. I tried their white chocolate mocha, cuz its my go to drink and how I rate coffee places. The coffee was more creamy and sweet compared to art of espresso. And the taste was also pretty good, better than Fairbanks. In fact, my mocha kind of tasted more like a cupcake than a coffee. So a white mocha may not be the best choice if you're going for the stronger coffee taste. I have heard that their zucchini bread is amazing, personally have not tried it yet. My friend got their cold brew coffee and thought it was pretty good, better than Fairbanks and as good as Muir woods. She said it even taster better than Starbucks. The workers were friendly and nice. Place isn't super packed. they also have other beverages and yogurts, etc. I'll also upload pictures of their pastries and other items. I do recommend trying this place, especially if you're already in the library. And I would come back again, but only if I'm planning on going to the library. read more

Audrey's used to be a great place for me. It seems there might be a change in ownership at Audrey's, and the new manager's demeanor appears to be less accommodating. There have been instances of perceived rudeness and aggressiveness, and some find the pricing, particularly the 50 cents for a cup of hot tea, a bit steep. They changed their legendary mocha recipe and now it's garbage. It's literally so petty but I can't get over it.

If you're already in the library, Audrey's is a decent option. The have a fun variety of drinks, from lavender lemonade to cheesecake americano. Last time I went, I ordered a mocha, I tasted more like hot chocolate and was a tad too sweet. My friends swears by their cheesecake americano; I haven't tried it because they're usually out of cheese, but I'm intrigued. It usually takes them 15 minutes to prepare a drink, whether they have no other customers or they have a long line. I'd go to Audreys more often if they were faster and/or less expensive, but for now they will suffice for my late night coffee fixes. read more

It's finally open today! Right before the quarter I graduate. After the opening of Starbucks on campus, Audrey's cafe became the next one. If I remembered it correctly, this Cafe is built because of the $3 million gift made by Audrey Geisel last year. The operating hours vary from week 1-10 to finals week. This cafe is located in the north end of the building's most heavily used study area. I think for now Audrey's will open daily from 7:30am-10pm from Monday to Thursday, and slightly shorter hours on the weekends! A really convenient place to get snacks and drinks while you study. I mostly go here for the baked goods, I recommend the pumpkin bread and chocolate croissant. Compared to Starbucks, the baked goods are cheaper and I personally like the pumpkin bread here better. The mocha is also really tasty and helps me get through the day when I'm tired. The only other drink I've tried is the black tea lemonade but I'm pretty sure I was served straight up just black tea, so I don't think I'm going to be ordering that again. read more

Nice little cafe at UCSD. Has ample snacks, sandwiches, and pastries- perfect for grabbing something while you're studying. Their second-day pastries are always 50% off which is awesome. The drink menus is comparable to something like starbucks, just slightly shorter. They also have a lot of tea options and sell red bull and sodas. Audrey's is a more-or-less solid coffee spot that occupies a coveted spot in Geisel where sleep-deprived, stressed out students can get their caffeine fix. Most of the time I find what they make better than Starbucks and the prices are either similar or more economical (not to mention the line is so much shorter than the Starbucks at PC). Some of my favorite drinks from here are their butterbeer latte, inspired by Harry Potter and reminiscent to me of a molten cinnabon, as well as their cappuccino and British rose (an Earl Grey latte with a dash of rose flavor). read more

4/5= basically the same drinks and quality as all the other markets on campus. Food: 4/5 Like I said earlier, same as all the other markets/ coffee shops on campus. Not too many options, but not too bad. They have coffees, teas, blended drinks, breads, sandwiches, cookies, and power bars. If you get the matcha blended drink ( my fave) make sure you ask for extra matcha! Otherwise it's too weak. I also got the blueberry banana bread and it was really soft and moist (lol moist). Got a plain latte, as it's how I judge a shop's ability to pull a good shot and produce nice foam. It was okay. beans were ground too fine, felt like shot extraction could have been better. It may also be the an issue of barista experience.. Also, shot didn't have much of a presence in the drink as a whole. Milk was subpar. Almost no foam at all, the milk was only steamed to make it hot, but not stretched to give it smoothness, more like a flat white, or given the shot's masking, almost a cafe au lait. Overall, I'd get coffee here because it's convenient (don't have to leave the library), but more out of necessity rather than taste. read more

This is a convenient spot for getting food or drinks when you don't want to leave the library. It's not the absolute best, but you're going here for the convenience factor. I prefer their blended coffee to Starbucks and that's my favorite cold drink so far. Their (hot) chai lattes are a little bit on the sweet side for me (Art of Espresso is my go-to for that). When you order hot teas, they steep them for you so it's a bit of a longer wait than you would normally expect. As a lactose-intolerant person, I do appreciate that they stock almond, soy, and macadamia milks which is a nice touch. My biggest qualm is that I wish they were open more hours because they're not always open when the library is open (for summer I think it's 10am-6pm for Audrey's while the library itself opens at 7:30am and closes at 10pm). The ones on Yelp aren't right (at least for summer session) so be sure to check the library website. It can be disappointing to walk over just to see that they're closed. read more

I went to Audrey's yesterday for only the second time, and asked the cashier Jared to suggest something that would propel me through 4 meetings, 2 classes, a whole lot of studying, and life in general. Jared delivered and suggested a drink (the Kian Coffee, I think it's called) that was so stiff that I was wired 8 hours later, after only finishing a third of it. While the drinks are tasty I could have sworn that my gingerbread white mocha had no caffeine . Had to go to a different place on campus and get a black coffee right after. While the drinks taste good , not worth upwards on four to five dollars . Also , some of the workers are definitely friendlier than others. read more
