NORTHLAND HEARING CENTER, owners of the office that I went to located in Sun City, FL have a form for the patient to sign titled INSURANCE AGREEMENT, PATIENT RESPONSIBILITY, UPGRADE & DELIVERY AGREEMENT. Unfortunately I signed it and lost my discount amount. This review is to help others not fall into this company's shady, unmoral and unprofessional way of using wording that many people would not understand and rip you of your insurance benefits. The cost of the hearing aids was $5,498.00. CASH PRICE IS $9,998.00 (WHICH CANNOT BE USED AS INFORMATIONAL FOR A PATIENT WITH INSURANCE, THERE IS A FEE SCHEDULE). Northlands Hearing Center billing department billed my insurance for $5,498 USING A BASIC MODEL CODE, NOT UPGRADED SINCE THEY KNEW IT WOULD NOT BE COVERED PER MY INSURANCE FEE SCHEDULE. If you follow how this is going you know their is something to worry about their way of working. My insurance gave me a discount of $2,398.00 and the max amount allowed was $3,100.00. Anthem paid $1,000.00 and my health account paid $620.00, bringing my responsibility to $1,480.00. NOW I paid upfront, mandatory to get my hearing aids $4,698.00, for a billed amount of $5,498.00. They received from my insurance $1,620.00 having an overpayment of $820.00 BECAUSE based on the document I signed I renounced to my discount benefit for not understanding their wording and shady ways of working. Now this is the wording, LAST PARAGRAPH on the document I signed: "BY CHOOSING TO UPGRADE, I UNDERSTAND AND AGREE TO PAY THE UPGRADED CHARGE REGARDLESS WHETHER MY EXPLANATION OF BENEFITS DESCRIBES THIS AMOUNT AS A CONTRACTUAL ADJUSTMENT or the amount that appears as member/patient responsibility on the Explanation of Benefits." My sincere advice, if you are willing to lose your insurance benefits, go for it. If you are worried about your FINANCES, care about getting an honest service, not be taken advantage of, DO NOT GET YOUR HEARING AIDS WITH THEM. They will keep what you paid upfront and ALL THE MONEY THEY GET FROM YOUR INSURANCE. As of today I have not received a penny from Northland Hearing Centers a refund. I do this because they got me. Hope I can help others be able to get an honest service from start to finish.
