But on the evening of March 22, 2025 I was the recipient of exceptional, very exceptional service. Lazy Saturday it was until my teenager made the distress call- car not starting. Drove to her location and jump started her car then drove straight to Advanced Auto - short pump. Exceptional patient understanding service is what I received as I explained the situation. Team member was responsive enough to provide me with a much better battery than the.one.in.the vehicle. And the AA team was just beginning. I was in for a real treat when Mr Carroll wheeled out his tool cart and got to the new battery installation. I have been on several ends of auto personnel treatment- mostly different when i am with a 2024 year vehicle than with an older vehicle. As a matter of fact, in another automobile workshop I was told, boldfaced and all, that nothing could be done for my older vehicle. A statement I would file away as I, carefully, stayed clear of that shop - with the newer vehicles and same older vehicle they'd written off. 7years after that remark, the vehicle is still running okay. So Mr Carroll installed this battery meticulously. Not just dumping it in but carefully tightening the terminals, ensuring snug fitting, applying anti-corrosives and yes wait for it...ensuring that there was no red battery light on the dashboard after installation. Thank you team AA short pump. Thank you for being consumate professionals. This evening, by your unplanned actions, I have passed the AA baton to my teenage daughter. You have a new customer.

I was an hour and a half from home and I called a few local parts stores. The people at the Car Quest on West Broad Street in Short Pump came to my car, checked to see what parts were needed, went back to the store, and came back with the part. Alan (spelling?) went out of his way to help me, by putting the part on the car for me and explaining what he did and why. This was not something that the company normally does, to my knowledge, but it was so kind. It was myself and two other young ladies (daughter and granddaughter), we were in a though situation being so far from home, but Alan and the people of Car Quest really did a good deed and went out of their way to help! I offered to pay him for fixing it right there, but he refused to take any money and I was only charged for the part. I wish I could do something to show my appreciation to Alan, so I thought writing a review would be a good idea. Thank you Alan and the managers/workers at CarQuest in Short Pump. You good deed and it did not go unnoticed! I will certainly pass it on!

It was already dark, but I knew the forecast was calling for wet weather all week and I wanted to be prepared! Safety first! So I ventured in and asked the man at the counter, Bill, for some Rainex wipers. While he searched the computer, I checked out the store. It was incredibly organized and clean! The front aisle even had a display of toys, car accessories, candies and snacks. Bill pecked away at the computer and found the right size for my vehicle. He suggested the premium ones for my SUV, and although they were pricey, I was fine with paying for high quality wipers that wouldn't have to be replaced as often. Bill, and his co-worker, Ei, kindly donned their rain gear replaced my windshield wipers in the rain!! They were so nice and helpful! I was extremely impressed by their customer service! So the process started, selected the truck online and got the loan started. My sales rep Dan, called me with some good news and some bad news. The good news was the loan was approved, the bad new was the truck I applied for was sold. However, there was one just like it (except for the color) was just unloaded off a train in Petersburg and was on the way to the lot. As soon as the vehicle was on the lot, Dan texted my pictures, I Loved the way it looked and had all I needed. So I set up a time to get with Dan to take it for a spin. When I arrived at Rick Hendrick, Dan was parking the vehicle out front for me to drive. After the drive, decided that we wanted to purchase it, Dan went right to work. He got the truck prep then took my over to the business office to sign the deal. I met with Robert, who had a state of the art signing board, which meant you didn't walk out with a bunch of paper, but everything downloaded to a thumb-drive. I really liked that. Robert than took me on a tour of the dealership, showing me the service department, collision center, parts and gave me a few parting gifts to keep the truck looking good. This dealership was amazing, professional and was state of the art! I was thinking, that I would drive an hour for service, yes it was that amazing! Highly recommend buying your next vehicle at Rick Hendrick Chevrolet Buick! You will not be let down! Happing Yelping!

The oil change alone came out to over $200 -- significantly more than any other shop in the area. And that was before they tried to pressure me into four additional services totaling thousands of dollars, none of which were recommended or even mentioned in my owner's manual. This wasn't an honest mistake. This was a deliberate attempt to take advantage of a customer. To make matters worse, I was charged $250 for a diagnostic fee on a separate issue -- one that their technicians could not duplicate after less than five minutes of troubleshooting. Five minutes. $250. They did nothing, found nothing, and still had the audacity to charge me for it. When I asked to speak with someone about waiving the fee, I was directed to Donnie Atkins -- the line manager and the person who is supposed to be the face of customer service at this dealership. Instead of handling the situation professionally, he was rude, combative, and completely unwilling to have a reasonable conversation. If this is the standard of leadership here, it explains everything about how this service department operates. This dealership will overcharge you, recommend services you don't need, charge you for work they didn't do, and treat you poorly when you push back. Go anywhere else.

I called because I was looking to purchase a 2001 911 Porsche. Anyone familiar with Porsche is aware that the 996 era has a known issue with the IMS bearing and it is recommended to have the single-row bearing replaced. I see online that this a rather standard kit that can be done as a proactive measure to prevent an engine failure. I explained that I wanted to get a ballpark replacement cost so I could factor that into what I would offer on the car. The lady that answered the phone said unless I purchased the car and brought it in and paid $100 for them to look at the car and provide a full assessment of the car they would not tell me how much they would charge for the bearing replacement. It may be a policy they have to not give out information over the phone but to me, my perception is that they were more interested in getting $100 rather than just being a decent person and a decent business and providing little customer service and earning a new customer. I may or may not buy the car, but I certainly know where I am not taking it to get the work done if I do. I just wanted to pass along how I was treated. You can make your own assessment of how you would rate the customer service here. Good luck!
