The tartare, monkfish and duck filet were our favorite, the flavors were exceptional and the waiter suggested great wines to pair with each of our entree. The restaurant is located at the city center of Tours in a small alley, easy to find with Google map. The space is not very big but cozy and warm, the quality of the food is beyond what we paid for, highly recommended!

Thankfully we were able to get a table without a reservation as it was indeed excellent. It was also obvious that it was a local favorite with several tables clearly occupied by couples on a date night. We decided to have 2 courses each and share a dessert. For starters we had the foie gras and a warm salad with quail. Followed by entrées of fish and pork loin. And a dessert that was essentially a very indulgent Brioche French toast. Everything was quite impressive but I do think the first course and dessert triumphed over the entrées. In any case I'd go back again if I were back in the area. The service was also on point and friendly.

The setting and ambiance are beautiful, elegant and the service impeccable, yet fun and relaxed. Chef Faï was simply superlative. His cooking has the heart and soul of France and French gastronomy which has been kissed and painted expertly with nuanced Asian flavors and ingredients. A house cocktail of litchi, guava and white wine with a drop of vodka - I could drink pitchers of it all summer long... The starter of fresh crab cakes with fresh herbs and mustard sauce immediately set the tone for the evening. Fresh, sweet, delicate crab kissed with fresh herbs and a light mustard sauce was amazing. I do not like crab - but I ate every bit of Chef Faï's crab and wiped the plate clean with the delicious bread. The green salad with crispy fish skin, dressed lightly in a classic French style vinaigrette with classic Asian ingredients like Chinese or Japanese mustard, sesame oil and perhaps Japanese rice vinegar was just another level of culinary perfection. The dishes were all amazing, the bread and wine perfect, I could go on and on...but it's better to experience Chef Faï's artistry yourself - in person. I understand why people return again and again to his magical restaurant. I know that we will return any chance we have when in France because it is definitely an experience to enjoy again and again!! Thank you Chef Faï - incredible, incredible and 5 full stars at minimum - and deserving of a sky full of stars to be honest.

It seems very typical of French restaurant to not begin serving food until around 7:30p so mistake on our part! When we came back at 7:30 half of the restaurant was already full but the owner gestured to a table which was reserved for us. I think what was most impressive is this restaurant is a one man show. The owner is both the chef and the server and is able to do everything for the restaurant at the same time. While we were dining, many locals stopped in to get to-go salads or tabbouleh which really shows that this is one of the best spots to go to in Le Mans. For food we ordered a charcuterie plate, gazpacho, vegetarian salad, and an aperetif. All the food was extremely delicious. My favorite was definitely the gazpacho which had the perfect amount of kick to it. I'd also never had melon with my salad with spices on top, the mixture of the sweet and savory was amazing. I will definitely be back here if we are in Le Mans again. The service we received was amazing, the food prices were reasonable, and the food was impeccably delicious. The owner spoke some english and we were able to order with my limited knowledge of french, he stopped by many times throughout the meal to ensure we were liking the food and to see if we wanted anything else.

We learned that the name of the restaurant means "kitchen in the middle of the room," which is literally the case here. We were served some hard salami as a complimentary treat with our drinks. The menu is minimal with only 2 options for each course (starter, main course, dessert), but this is not surprising as it's a very small kitchen with one cook. We shared a starter of crispy phyllo filled with stewed pork, veal, chicken and onions and each ordered duck and turkey parmentier as our main course. The food was so cozy and comforting. It was definitely more rustic than some of the other dishes we had eaten on our trip, but we really enjoyed all the flavors and would definitely come back. Olivier in particular was delightful. Even though he was cooking all the food, he checked in on us multiple times and ensured we were enjoying ourselves. This is a small restaurant and reservations are definitely required.

We had no complaints about any of the courses. The prix fixe was great value, and the ambiance of the restaurant is small and special. Service was friendly and efficient enough. No complaints there. I chose the plate of the day, which was a steak in red wine sauce. The dish was visually appealing, with artfully diced and presented squash, asparagus, and carrots, potatoes, and the sauce with shallots. However, the flavor was lacking, and the meat was unevenly cooked and tough in spots. The appetizer of 3 shrimp in a carrot-cardamom purée was good, but not exceptional. The presentation was outstanding. I also had a glass of very average house wine. My companion's fish with coconut-lime sauce was better, with nicely cooked scorpionfish. Verdict - this sounds terrible, but while the value was good for the meal (e29 total), I wish I had stopped at the bakery-cafe down the street instead as I expect the dishes would have been more flavorful. Either that, or my palate was just off during the visit. I've never touched the salt shaker in France before but this time, the flavors needed a boost.
