I did some research ahead of time and found la Maison d'a Cote and made a reservation, not knowing what the menu would be when we arrived. Neither of us are particularly adventurous when it comes to food so we opted for the a la carte option. We both chose the main course of wagyu beef with potatoes four ways and a dessert. My husband chose around the honey with genoise, almonds, and fresh cream sorbet. I had the chambord liqueur hot souffle. We were also served four smaller courses prior to the entree and a few small desserts after our main dessert choice. We opted for a bottle of cider to accompany our meal since we'd just been in the Normandy area the day before. A couple of the small starters were seafood based and I didn't love those (not a fan of most seafood) but it was fun to try something new. Everything else was perfect and delicious. I've never had such a beautiful meal in such a nicely decorated ambiance. The meal felt particularly special because we were seated adjacent to the chef's table. We were fortunate to have a nearly front row seat to watch the kitchen work their magic. I'd never seen the inter-workings of a high end kitchen like this and spent much of the meal watching in awe as each chef flawlessly executed their part of the meal. It was amazing how quiet it was! The staff spoke in hushed voices and the sound of the food cooking was the loudest noise coming from the kitchen. Everyone we interacted with - all of the cooks, the head chef, the waiters, and waitresses - were perfectly polite and kind to us. We really appreciated that each dish was explained to us in English as our French is abysmal. One of the waiters even quipped that this was a great opportunity to practice his English. La Maison d'a Cote absolutely lived up to the expectations I had going in and I would love to go back one day. 5 stars.

Everything was excellent, beautifully plated, and quite unexpected. Our favorite dishes? A Loire fish served with eggplant and ananas - super unconventional, and what we thought would be a diet dish was actually explosive in flavor. Also the Parmesan cheese served with aged balsamic vinegar - so, so good. The only things that were a bit below average were a foie gras and mushroom dashi (a bit too watery and bland) and the second dessert, melon-based and unfortunately using an average melon. But overall, it was super, super good - and the wine pairing options were a hit too. The restaurant itself is very relaxing - all white paint and wood, with super cute lamps and a magnificent red kimono as only eye-catching decoration.
