She was a great communicator and kept all her commitments and promise dates (in my experience, a real rarity). In addition there were thoughtful bonuses like an online folder for the design that included a couple handfuls of additional information about native plants, care, and design. Very nice. The added bonus is Michelle's long standing and trusted relationship with Manuel and Austin Gardners. They delivered the install on time and on budget with a full crew from start to finish. And it looks great. Small details like not burying tree root bulbs, not overmultching, twisting ivies thoughtfully...they did it all. This is just a well run company. Thanks Michelle, Manuel and the rest of the crew!

I can't recommend Austin Gardeners enough! Manuel Soto, the owner, truly has a gift. His artistic…read moreeye and deep understanding of landscaping completely transformed our yard into something beautiful and functional. They rejuvenated our side yards, completely transformed our backyard, and built a stunning outdoor kitchen for us. We've been struggling for years with tricky elevation and irrigation issues along the sides of our house, and Manuel really understood the problem and offered a great solution. His design was not only practical but also visually stunning. We had a pool put in the backyard by Cody Pools and alone it would not be the paradise that it is! The pool is beautiful, but the landscaping truly created a personal paradise! We can't forget about the outdoor kitchen. They built exactly what we wanted and precisely installed all the appliances. What a dream! His crews showed up each day ready to work hard--they put in long hours with care, efficiency, and professionalism. Every person on the team was skilled, respectful, and clearly took pride in their work. If you're looking for someone who combines creativity with technical expertise, Austin Gardeners is the team to call. We're beyond happy with the results!

I hope everything is ok and it is sad if they actually did go out of business, but the way greg handled this was cowardly and highly unprofessional. The initial consultation Brent and Kate came by my property and walked the entire lot with me. We discussed the style I was looking for, plants that I liked, and I agreed to have Kate provide a design. Kate schedule another visit where she took a number of photos, and added details to her survey to aid her design. Kate and Brent returned this week with the design and we were extremely impressed with the work that went into the design. The lot is over an acre with significant elevation change. Kate provided two different proposals taking into account my desire for native plants, and a natural look. She provided photographs of all the plants she selected and has made herself available for additional questions and updates as needed. I am looking forward to Brent, Kate, and their team executing her vision in the coming months. I can't say enough good things about BDW Landworks!

Good design work / overpriced maintenance…read more We hired Ground & Garden to do a large (to us) landscaping job for about $70k - new sod, masonry, new decorative plants, etc. We worked closely with Kate Higdon and were generally happy with the result. One small complaint is that the plants they selected to frame our front walk have been yellowing/dead-looking all summer. At the end of the project, I realized they didn't install weed barriers. So I asked Kate about it and she said they don't do that and our beds would have to be hand-weeded. Ok, I thought, they're the experts. She recommended we get quarterly or monthly gardening care (weeding, pruning, mulch, fertilization, aeration, ant control, irrigation adjustments, etc) and their maintenance crew could get us a quote. Getting a quote from their maintenance crew was a bit of a pain, but when I eventually did, I learned that they, in fact, do NOT offer quarterly or monthly gardening service unless we ALSO hire them to also mow and blow our lawn weekly... total price $644 per month. For a 2,000 sqft yard. In case you didn't fall over upon reading that, that's a lot. On the plus side, they have uniformed technicians, I guess.
