This company is completely incompetent. It's as if your business inconveniences them…read more We have a small business and had a large order of screws to place. My business partner called in the order, faxed them a copy, and sent an email with what we needed. I showed up the next day to pick up the order, and nobody seemed to know what I was talking about. Finally, a lady came to the desk and had found the fax. They were able to partially fill the order and said they'd need to order the rest. Two weeks passed, and I returned to pick up the rest of the order. The man at the counter looked at us, confused, and had no clue what we were talking about. He pretended to look us up in his computer, talked to his coworkers, and finally admitted defeat and said he didn't have our order. We had to go home and retrieve our own receipt, drive back to Joplin (we live in Pittsburg), and refresh their records. Unsurprisingly, the screws we needed were never ordered. Another couple of weeks passed... still no call with the remainder of the order. The main reason we chose to drive to Joplin over simply ordering everything online in one shot was to save time on shipping. At this point, it's been two months since our first visit to Shamrock Bolt and Screw. We just ordered our screws online, and they are scheduled for delivery next week. If you just need some standard screws, you're probably good. Anything else, though, you're better off to just order online.

They don't always hve what I need when looking for obscure parts I can find at specialty hardware…read morestore, Ace or True Value. But for the regular stuff the prices are fair and the staff here always seem to be on the ball, hustling but not racing, they have time to help and they all seem happy to do so. Often many of them don't know anything about the how-to of things. Don't bother asking something like if this carrier bolt stronger than that one, which gague wire is right for a specifi project, or why a screw has a steeper twist and rotation. They don't seem to know. But they do want to help and they do know what they do have on hand most of the time. Occasionally we will come across someone who is passionate about the department they work in. I would give them four stars however they often mis the mark on services. Like having tiles installed, siding, or an applaince. The contractors are all subcontractors and not Lowe's employees. Sometimes this ties thier hands form doing a better job beacues they have to confomr to Lowe's rules. Other times the store struggles to get the dates right or offer services they don't even sell and you don't learn about it until no one shows up for a job and you have to chase them down. This has happened to us several times on projects often wasting days or weeks.

Like the glass doors that came in without glass and then we found out our style of cabinets didn't even have glass doors that size, and that is just one example of many. Other people at Lowe's reluctantly took time out of their busy day to deal with the issues once we forced it. Not blaming the person that started the process, although they made mistakes and omitted information. I'm blaming the company for not having a system to follow through with my purchase.

Well, it could be worse. There is no Northern Tool Co. (do a google for their website) around…read moreand so this is the cheap tool place to come to in town. Sears, I think still has tools but as we all know, Sears is a mere ghost of what it used to be. For the size, nice selection and nice prices. But, it's still Harbor Tool and on most of these things like power tools, I wouldn't want to buy them if I were in construction and such tools would be getting heavy use. I find the staff friendly, when you can find them. Often they're understaffed creating long lines and frustration that it took you 15 minutes to find what you wanted but 20 minutes to pay for it. Management has a problem, not sure what it is. Hope they fix whatever is causing the staff to go off. The other problem is part of the store is used for storage and they have a big door that connects the store to the storage area. Then they'll start up some paint gun or something that has fumes and likely says DO NOT USE INDOORS flood the air that the customers would kind of like to breath. So, I would say the ability to read is not a high priority for becoming a manager of this store. Horrible, horrible parking lot. Rangeline is a busy, somewhat suicidal street to turn left on and turning right isn't a picnic either. Narrow parking lot and then if you start to back out, factor on some idiot coming off Range Line at 45 or better MPH. Parking is a challenge. Avoid parking if possible. Occasionally, they'll have a sidewalk sale with a bunch of junk set out at a bit of a discount. Maybe 5% or whatever to get someone to think "Wow, what a great deal!" One of the worst things I've seen Harbor Tools try to push off on the unsuspecting public is a stupid generator that I believe is rated around 800 watts. Well, that's enough to run lights but you have to mix it with oil like you'd do with a weed eater. That is a bother. All it's going to take is your brother in law who's had a couple of beers and probably isn't too bright to start with, to fill it up with regular gas and seize the little engine that likely sounds louder than a leaf blower at max. Good and cheap I'll say. Good and good, well, define good.

The staff is very helpful, although extremely busy. I don't mind the wait time, because for me it is like a kid going into a candy store. I always allow plenty of time to shop when I visit Harbor Freight. I have been a mechanic for over 40 years. I also do woodworking, home repairs, yard-work and a bit of welding. I have spent more more for similar tools at other stores, but have not been convinced that the expense meant higher quality. In reality, all of the stuff, no matter where you buy it, is made overseas and probably at the same factory. My Brother (the one who must have the Best of everything) buys only Name brands. My Harbor Freight stuff usually outlasts his yellow stuff. If my stuff breaks, Harbor Freight replaces it, usually on the same day. Try that at the Big Box store. The parking is a problem, but no more so than just about any business along Range Line road. Plenty of parking in the rear of the store, even when I am pulling my Utility trailer. When exiting the parking lot, turn left to the next corner, left again, and that will take you out to the traffic light across from Target. Look around, think about where your car is going, and enjoy Harbor Freight!

I brought them back their own sealed pouch that they had sold them to me in which showed the count as 16 along with my register receipt. The young lady at the register, who is awesome btw, handed them to an associate, who was also terrific, to take them down to hardware to be counted. He then opened the sealed bag and heads downstairs. Apparently the guy in hardware, big, middle aged guy who's always there, didn't count them but dumps them back into the bin. So when the cashier calls down to confirm the count he hesitates a bit and replies "around seven". So we go back and forth with rude hardware guy basically calling me a liar. Now these weren't cheap screws at $1.19 each so I wouldn't let it go. I said either you have no idea how many were in your bag you just dumped out or you screwed me on the count when I bought them! Finally an older gentleman said to refund my money and then proceeded to tell me in the future when returning an item to go directly to hardware and watch them count. I replied that won't be necessary, there won't be a next time. You lost my business for good and I suggest you work with big boy on his customer service skills, or send him packing.

An associate brought them down from storage and put them in the back of our truck. It wasn't until we got home that we realized one of the middle chairs arm was completely broken. The manager came over, looked at the chair and said, "Nope, it wasn't broken when you left here" and walked off before I had a chance to say anything. The cashier said he wasn't going to do anything...no refund or exchange. So my only option was to just take the broken chair and leave. I left it behind just like I will this store in the future.
