Based on this assurance, I proceeded with the appointment under the impression that there would be no associated charges after checking with them three times. 1. I called his office and was confirmed "The consultation is free." 2. When I was at his office, I was asked to provide my insurance information. I asked why since I was there only for a consultation. I was told, "It's for the purpose of the cost estimation." 3. The doctor asked me to do an x-ray during the visit, and I asked his assistant, "I didn't have to pay for this right?", and she said, "No." However, I was informed by my insurance company that he filled a claim for both the consultation and the x-ray. My insurance only covers the consultation but not the x-ray. I've checked with them step by step and was shocked by their unethical behavior. As a patient, I don't know what to do to avoid unexpected expenses in the future. Asking doctors and their staff to write down everything they say?????

I felt serene as soon as I walked through the door--I've never felt like this at any dental clinics before. We were happy to see Rouba, our favorite dental hygienist.
