By far the most incompetent staff that I have ever encountered at any business in my entire life. DO. NOT. GO HERE! First off, I very rarely take the time write bad reviews. I am not some "Karen" who goes around searching for things to get offended at. I have simply had so many consistently terrible experiences as a visitor here that I want to warn you so I can spare you the agony of dealing with these people. Without fail, every time I've come here, the staff has made some sort of MAJOR mistake that has inconvenienced me, wasted my time, caused me frustration, etc. Here is just a sampling of some choice highlights: 1) They ordered me the completely wrong contact lens prescription. (Then when I call to tell them about this major mistake, instead of profusely apologizing for the embarrassing mistake like you might expect, the lady on the phone instead rudely argues with me, and tells me that I'm wrong, that I don't know what I'm talking about, and that that is indeed the correct prescription. So I was only even able to finally get around to getting the correct prescription ordered after I had to keep arguing with her about the matter until she finally put someone on the phone who cared enough to look into it more carefully. Not exactly the ideal customer service experience.) 2) They gave me the wrong "lookup code" (or whatever it's called) for a pair of glasses I liked, so I could reference it later and buy them. Instead when I looked it up online, the code they gave me was for a totally different pair of glasses. 3) After my last visit, I decided to switch to a different contact brand after discussing some eye issues I was having with the doctor. The staff at the front, when they were going to order my year's supply of contacts, was about to order the wrong brand that the doctor and I had just agreed to switch away from -- and it was only because I double-checked what brand they were ordering that I caught the mistake and didn't get stuck with a year's supply of the wrong contacts that I didn't want. 4) The previous time I had ordered contacts through them.... the contacts just never even arrived. Not sure if they got lost in transit, if they never got ordered to begin with, no clue -- but I had to get them re-ordered after several weeks of waiting. 5) After they screwed up, ordered the wrong contact prescription, then re-ordered the correct one, I called to confirm if they were there or not, they put me on hold, said they'd check, then returned and said "Nope they're not in yet." Which was strange because I was set up to get shipping tracking notifications for those contacts, and I had an email right in front of me which said they had arrived 4 days ago. I let her know about this, she checked again, and the contact lenses somehow magically appeared in front of her after she had just told me they weren't there. 6) As a bonus, one of their employees who works in the key customer-facing position (ie the lady at the desk, answering the phones, etc) is consistently very rude as well. She'll be rude on the phone, she'll be rude in person, she'll give pushback, she'll have an attitude and clearly seem annoyed with her tone and her body language when you're just asking basic questions -- it makes you want to just *run away from this place* to avoid having to deal with her. She was even loudly badmouthing some of the other customers to her coworkers while I was browsing glasses like 8 feet away and could clearly hear what she was saying -- LOL. Every single visit, without fail, the staff here will screw something up, and they'll leave you feeling frustrated. That has been my experience every single time I have come here -- and I could not more strongly recommend that you avoid this place. read more

I've been going to Dr Atteberry since they opened. He knows his stuff and is great with customer service and care. He's funny and helpful and more importantly he's very receptive to you as a customer/patient. He won't let you walk out of there feeling confused or unsure. He wants you to be happy and comfortable. The office's staff is fun, happy and kind. I really appreciate how they talk with you like a friend rather than a customer. Everyone is top notch. I'm trying contacts again for the second time. The first time I had a horrible experience with a careless optometrist that didn't explain things very well. This time, however, with Dr Atteberry's help, guidance and patience everything worked out great! I left feeling confident and sure of my decision. I have no regrets! Give Dr Atteberry a try. Dr. Atteberry's office is in the same building where TARGET is located, although his practice is not affiliated with TARGET in any manner. Unlike most optometrists, he does not market or sell eyeglasses or contact lens': He strictly makes his living doing eye exams. I'm an older person and have been wearing glasses for over 55+ years. I was reared in a snobbish environment such that optometrists were viewed as 2nd class when compared to ophthalmologists (M.D.). However with age comes wisdom: The optometrist receives far more training in the art and science of refraction (glasses and contacts) than the ophthalmologist. Serious eye disease requires the M.D., but most everything else can be handled by the PhD optometrist. Dr. Atteberry is such an optometrist. My appt. was at 10am and it was 10am when the doctor greeted me and had me go into the exam area. He was beyond thorough going through all the routine tests and some more advanced tests and such given my age. He was professional in his demeanor and at the same time friendly and engaging. It was great not getting hit with the sales pitch modality that pretty much all the others here in Lawrence hit you with. Frames are a huge racket, bordering on a mark up better than that of drug dealers! Not with Dr. Atteberry as he's just not got that going in his practice. I suspect he may some day (he's a younger member of his profession), but he doesn't now. Dr. Atteberry made certain I understood what shape my eyes were in and what I might anticipate over the course of the next five or so years. He was reassuring and patient in fitting me for the Rx I was seeking (I like to have a couple of Rx: One for distance; one for sitting at the computer; and one for bifocals. I'll never get the Rx for bifocals filled, but it's nice to have....particularly given the price of on line purchased Rx glasses and frames. Check your insurance and advocate for the best rate for the exam you can get. AARP has a great exam rate. (I realize the utes (youths) of the college crowd aren't eligible or interested....but....hey....they'll figure out a discount is a discount....). The exam took a little more than one hour what with checks for cataracts, glaucoma, dry eye issues, and other eye problems for us seniors....but if you're getting contacts and all the other vanity eye stuff, you'll be glad you went to Dr. Atteberry given his attention to detail and thoroughness. I'm glad I gave this doctor the opportunity to exam my eyes. (I had been going to a another "full service" optometrist on Mass. St. in Lawrence and that guy and his wife simply have gotten too big for their britches moving the focus from eye care to frame and doo dad sales....). I'm going to be sticking with him from this point forward. Even when he graduates to a fancier office filled with $400 Gucci frames, I'll keep going back. He knows he isn't going to make any money off of me on the retail side and he'll still provide a beyond thorough exam of my eyes. I'm really picky about who I see and where and how I spend my money. This money was well spent. Do yourself a favor and give Dr. Atteberry a chance to win your business. You'll be glad you did. read more

My visit to Dr. Atteberry's office was smooth and enjoyable. The office was quiet and clean, the initial paperwork was gloriously short (one page!), and Dr. Atteberry himself has the talent of being friendly and engaging while also working professionally and efficiently. He seemed to genuinely enjoy his job and even thanked me for trying out his office. I was in and out in less than an hour, which included a contact lense consultation. read more

I saw Dr. Coleman today and was so impressed with her knowledge, her ability to convey that knowledge and her professional but friendly manner. I actually had fun getting my eyes tested. I was equally impressed with the staff. I was able to get an appt quickly and Dr. Coleman didn't make me wait. The initial paperwork is, as noted in another review, blissfully short. I understand Dr. Atteberry is wonderful, too, so you can't really go wrong. This is a great office. By the way, it's no longer located in Target. It's on Bob Billings Pkwy and the new offices are great. They have a selection of frames or you can take your perscription elsewhere. I found frames I liked and the price was competitive so I purchased them there. I also got sunglasses. read more

I went in this place for a contact exam/fitting which I may add cost me 120 bucks. This was 8 MONTHS ago...I was told that the particular contacts that I needed would have to be ordered. That I would receive a call once they were in. That was 8 months ago. About once a month I would call to check...at no time did someone call to update me AT ALL during those 8 months. When I would call I was alway told I'm on some list to be called back or someone will call me back within the business day. So today I called and was told they have some trials for me to try, to come in before 5. When I get there there was an attitude. Telling me the trials are not my exact prescription but try these and see if I like them! The female optometrist there totally acted like I was bothering her! As if I didn't pay my 120 bucks for this service on top of that still 8 months in with no prescription! If this is how you conduct business fine, but know that I will file a complaint!
