BEWARE. This is the worst experience I have ever had with any professional service whatsoever…read more Timothy was hired for a tax return on 2/6 after he assured me he would respond to emails or calls within 24 hours. If Timothy had just disappeared then, it would have actually made my life much easier. But instead he strung me along for three months giving me every single excuse in the book and missing every single scheduled call. He claimed to not receive over 50% of my emails even though we have proof of delivery and, in many cases, proof of him opening the emails. Timothy never answered a single question via email so we got him to commit to a call on April 10. Eight minutes before the call he cancelled. Timothy then ignored approximately 30 emails, phone calls, Upwork messages, and even Facebook messages over the next month. Finally on May 5 he answered, apologized, and agreed to schedule a meeting once he was at the office in under an hour. Over 24hrs later, after claiming he never received an email with my scheduling link which had been sent to him over 10 times, he scheduled the call for May 8, which of course he did not show up to. To this day I have absolutely no clue if Timothy has done taxes for my business, if he has sent the IRS information on my behalf-- nothing. Nearly 20 hours was wasted attempting to communicate with and locate Timothy and we are still completely in the dark.

UPDATE: January 27, 2025 - Being 78 years old and wanting to get records of my personal income tax,…read moreI called this place today to download my complete tax records on my PIN drive to transfer to another tax agent. I was told by, I assume, the owner of Downriver Incomtax that ALL of my tax records were deleted. I believe deleting my tax records from their files is illegal since they must keep records for the IRS for possible auditing. I believe any reputable company would keep tax records for at least 10 years. Is something illegal happening that I am not aware of? Did this company cook their books to avoid paying taxes on my payments over the years? Those are questions that popped up in my mind. Anyone in their right mind may have the same thoughts, along with the IRS. My right is to post my beliefs without being condemned and taken to court. This guy said that he talked to an attorney. I believe that he wouldn't have to talk to an attorney if he did nothing wrong. The beliefs are simply beliefs every American is entitled to. The following was posted on Aug. 20, 2024: Retired with fixed income. DON'T WALK AWAY. RUN AWAY. If I could give minus five stars, I would. I wanted to enter tax-deductible info in my 2022 and 2023 personal income tax DURING THE 2022 & 2023 YEARS, but this company failed miserably. This company failed to enter this info, causing a loss of A RETURN FOR over $300. I notified them after I realized THEIR mistake and asked for a revision to be filed at their expense since it was THEIR MISTAKE. They said I would have to pay $75 each year to file the revision. Are they sick? It was their mistake. They received the info on time during the respective years with their cocky attitude. IT IS EASY FOR THEM TO TAKE ADVANTAGE OF A RETIRED 77-YEAR-OLD.

I had dropped off my taxes later in the season than I had wanted, so they said they would file an extension. Great! I wasn't in a hurry. I called to ask for an update a few days after tax day. Just an update to make sure things didn't get lost. I wasn't not in a hurry but I do like to make sure I'm still on the books. Office staff again was accommodating and pleasant and said she would talk with Tom and leave him a note. Sounded good to me! I get a call from Tom a few minutes later and he's short with me, asking me questions, cutting me off, and is downright rude. I'm not in the habit of letting anyone talk down to me, especially when I provided all the paperwork necessary, along with an extensive excel sheet with totals clearly labeled. He wanted me to access the same spreadsheet and read him all the same information he was holding in his hands. It seems like his first reaction is to get frustrated and angry, which doesn't make sense to display to a paying customer. Our second phone call resulted in swearing. Look, when you're in a professional setting and you don't know the person on the other end of the phone, professionalism should be the default. Not only this but he called my job a hobby. He can take his opinions and shove them because I will not be returning. He seems to have a patience issue that he needs to work on. Therapy can be very helpful for this.
