On the way home I saw the Green man, and decided to visit the next week. I'm so glad I did! It has everything that the Ropsley fox has, and more, but most noticeably the food. On arrival, I was greeted by some wonderful locals, which give the pub a great atmosphere in its own and pub it's self has a great traditional feel to it. I didn't expect a small friendly pub such as this to serve great food, but on trying, WOW, it's so much better that the Ropsley fox! I had a Chicken meal, which was presented well, tasted delightful, and was surprisingly inexpensive. Brilliant pub/ restaurant for everyone! There is only one point that lets the pub down a tiny bit, is the bar, it's very small, and because of this fact it seems that only one staff member can man the post, meaning long waiting at the bar waiting to be served. Somewhere with friendly locals, an unpretentious vibe, plenty of character, reasonable prices and no lager louts trying to pick fights. Also somewhere that had atmosphere but wasn't so busy that you had to wait an hour to get served or were packed in like sardines. We don't ask for much, do we! The minute we walked through the door, we realised we'd come to the right place! Everything about this small pub we liked - the quirky characters, the fab decor, the Kiwi and Aussie influence, the secret doors (don't want to spoil any surprises here though!), the crazy photographs We will definitely be returning!

I'm sure that the locals probably don't appreciate me and my American (and a few British) friends crashing their pub, but I like the atmosphere, the reasonably priced drinks, and the jukebox. It has character and probably isn't very politically correct... but that's what I like it. I'm not sure if they have found a cook yet, but they used to do some fantastic chips, although the burgers weren't quite as good. The bar staff have always been really friendly and pleasant. First off I say that I went for dinner but all I'm going to say is it was lovely, the reason being, is upon a quick chat with the manager he said he was stopping meals within the next week or two. So stopped back in with the intention of participating in a pub quiz... Earlier in the day we had…read moretried to call the pub to find out if the pub quiz was on and what time, however the number on the website (and consequently on here) was not working. I was pretty sure the last time we did it, it started at 8 p.m., so we decided to chance it anyway. When we got there, besides the bartender there was absolutely no one there. Apparently there was no pub quiz, but there isn't any notice that there was no pub quiz. Since we were already out, we decided to have a drink. The lager tasted fine, but it smelled funny, wasn't sure if it was the glass or the drink. We went to sit at a table by the window, but none of the tables were cleaned... still had what looked like lettuce and mayo on it. And the amount of gnats was ridiculous and we had to cover our drinks to prevent them from going for a swim in them. Eventually more people started showing up and the music was good... but this experience made me a little disappointed.
