You can choose from a selection of menu items or you can build your own sandwich or salad. My friend had the turkey and Harvarti sandwich with the Asian salad and he loved it too. This place is on the way to the U of I hospital so it is a great stop off before or after a visit. If you are looking for a yummy quick lunch this is the place. It will not disappoint! Thank you YELP for recommending this place!

This restaurant has started shrinking portions on takeout, and messes up at least one ingredient in the salad every single time. I always get the asian chicken crunch and it's usually the chicken is missing. I know it gets confusing with chicken being so hard to see and all.... The two stars are generous since this chain obviously is cheap and lazy on takeout orders simply because they think can, and I've ordered enough times to have a good idea!

I came here with my group from the conference. We're all experienced attorneys and tomorrow is the last day, so we all hung out tonight. The place is divey and very pub like. That's fine and what I expected. The server was a young guy and he was fine. He did his best with a group of 7. However, there weee things ordered by a particular person on another's bill and there was food that never came on a bill and food that was an app delivered after the meal. The space itself is large and looks to be separated into two halves. I entered on the one side, ordered at the counter, just like you would at any coffee shop and waited. This place serves a full-service breakfast as well if you're looking for something more substantial (eggs, panini's, pancakes, etc..). I was just here picking up and bringing it back to our room. The coffees were fine, but there was only one gentleman working the counter, and he was a bit overwhelmed. He forewarned me that he had 4-5 drinks ahead of mine, so I ended up sitting there waiting for about 15 minutes for our two drinks. I wasn't pressed for time today, but if I was, this would've been an issue. I ordered a raspberry chocolate scone and a cinnamon roll. The scone was delicious. Not too sweet and was definitely made this morning. The cinnamon roll was delicious as well, but it was extremely sweet. To the point where it hurt your teeth. It would also have been better if it were warmed up. Lastly, they gave me this big cinnamon roll in a bag without any napkins or utensils?!? I had to stop at the free breakfast at our hotel to get a fork, knife and some napkins. So kind of a mixed-bag at the Encounter Cafe. I would give it another shot and try some other things, but it didn't blow me away.
