Michael is a breath of fresh air. As a renter, if you call him and a prospective place ends up not being a fit, he takes the time to talk to you and see if he has anything else that is a FIT. Note-not just something to sell you on. An actual fit that makes sense. As for owners/landlords-My boyfriend and I came home last week to an entry with burst pipes. The OWNER of the building was out of town and had his heat way too low in his unit on the first floor. The entry pipes were part of that, had burst. We heard water and called him, and he walked us through shutting off the water main valve and was on site within 30 minutes, had a repairman there the same day. That is hard to do in January in a huge freeze! But he has an established network of professional service people. If we had just gotten voicemail who knows how much damage would have happened. He really takes care of things and protects landlords when they don't know they need it. Highly recommend!

Once we received our application acceptance, (which was almost immediately) our leasing agents were very prompt with our responses and helpful with questions, particularly Amber and Morgan, the two women I have been the most in touch with. In terms of quality this is definitely the nicest apartment I've ever lived in. The appliances are all modern and clean, the paint colors really bring the space together, and the neighborhood (west end) is so idyllic. My boyfriend and I chose not to have a parking space, so I cannot speak to the parking situations, but it seems like everyone in my building sticks to their space and are friendly with one another. Above all else I love that we can pay rent online. My last property management I went through, you had to pay in person which required a lot more planning. I love that I don't have to worry abut making an extra trip to drop of a check. I always feel safe with my mail and packages, everyone in my building seems to respect everyone else's privacy and information. I have even had neighbors put packages safely inside for me that were left outside, just to be safe. I recently emailed Amber about our heat actually being a bit too warm and she emailed me back within minutes saying she'd put in a work order to the maintenance team ASAP. I am sorry to hear others have had negative experiences with Port Property, but it sounds like they are listening and really have an attentive, kind staff now.

Congress Square Park has received a few decent…read morereviews being that it is home to the Union Station Clock as well as lovely out door area with a ton of seating and free WiFi, free entertainment, etc.. But the square is a LOT more than just the park. There is the Children's Museum, The Museum of Maine, Congress Square Gallery, First Friday events, The Art Walks, The Pride Parade, Political Rallies, where the fantastic wheel chair riding street politician/comedian sits with his Trump Sucks Sign and waves to traffic.. There are also the small niceties, Starbucks, Congress Square Restaurant, two amazing hair salons, a tattoo shop or three, Otto pizza, Wild Burritos, Flea For All, the Westin, and of course the State Theater. I live in Congress Square, the park is magical during the winter covered in snow and beautiful holiday lights, and an amazing place to read or drink coffee alone or with friends, or catch an outdoor movie on Sunday evening. We even have a taxi stand.. A rarity in a smaller city.

My friends and I had a really unpleasant experience with the security officer here. We stopped for a moment in a well-lit area near the building's porch so she could calm down. The security guard came out and asked us to move, which we understood and immediately did -- we stepped onto the public sidewalk in front of the building. A minute later, the same guard approached us again and told us to move again, even though we were no longer on private property. When I politely asked him to give us a minute, he responded that he didn't care about our personal problems. I tried to deescalate by wishing him a good night, but he continued to be rude and dismissive. We were five girls alone at night, and instead of offering help or at least showing some basic human decency, he made us feel unsafe and disrespected. I understand he has a job to protect the building, but his behavior was completely uncalled for. The worst part is that right after forcing us to leave, he went to stand on the same sidewalk to have a smoke break with his girlfriend. If this is the kind of person representing the building, it says a lot about their standards and lack of empathy.

From the perfect started studio on Congress, to a beautiful and spacious one bedroom on State St I've only every been extremely pleased! Madi in particular goes above and beyond to make sure that the apartment they are renting to you is perfect. The properties I have lived at have been well maintained, heat and hot-water included, fairly quiet from city living, and centrally located. Maintenance issues are resolved in timely manner and periodic inspections to maintain the property are done in a well informed and respectful manner. The rental costs are fair, and up front, and the leases never have weird loopholes that leave you confused. If you have a question, they are happy to answer. Honestly I can't think of another agency I have had more pleasure in working with and renting from. Thanks a bunch!

I was hired for a restoration project in Portland, and upon finding severe hidden damage, the GPM project manager explicitly directed me to complete extensive out-of-scope work with the promise of full compensation. After I put in hundreds of hours of labor, GPM refused to honor their verbal directives and tried to hide behind the initial flat-rate quote. I was forced to file a Mechanic's Lien and a civil lawsuit just to get paid. Ultimately, GPM refused to take financial responsibility for the work they ordered. The distressed property owner had to step in and pay me thousands of dollars directly out of his own pocket to clear the title to his building. Don't hire GPM as your property management company! They do NOT have your best interest! If you do contract work for GPM, do not lift a hammer without a signed change order! Even then.....beware! Dishonesty in the ranks is enabled from the top.
