Tim the owner is great at working on guitars. They did a refret on a vintage Gibson Archtop, and repaired a finish damage on a very expensive PRS Private Stock guitar. In both cases the guitars were repaired expertly and on time. I wholeheartedly recommend Atomic Guitar Works for your guitar repair needs. read more

I have been using Tim @ Atomic Guitar Works for over 10 years (Harry was there also). I have had superb service at reasonable rates on the over 20 guitars I have had serviced. They provide regular and custom work (I've used both). This is a reputable business with quick and outstanding work and customer service. read more

Excellent craftsmanship! Fairly priced too! Highly recommend them! They have restored my telecaster to original state!

My youngest son inherited a guitar that needed lots of loving care. We dropped the guitar off on a Thursday afternoon and picked it up on a Saturday morning. It was good as new and so reasonably prices, I was shocked. In the days of inflation, it was amazing. I highly recommend Atomic Guitar Works for all of your guitar repairs. read more

A while back I brought a Gibson 335 to get setup. Open chord tuning was off even after perfect open string tuning, the nut needed to either be replaced or fixed. Bought the guitar from Sweetwater and the repair was on their dime. I told him this. Expensive guitar really wanted to get it setup, fixed and playable. The guy returns the guitar to me with the action so low it sounds like I'm slapping a bass. $89 - did nothing I asked and dismissed my concerns. Literally worse than when I brought it in. My bad for not playing it before I left. But honestly, I just wanted to get out of there, because the guy is obsessed with politics and literally won't stop talking. Just stick to guitars, bro. I was referred to the place, but I think Atomic was based on a partnership, and the other partner left, so who knows, maybe it was good at one time, but I think the talent left. read more

He offers advice and thoughtful responses to questions. His timelines for work are often spot on. His prices are very reasonable. He is the only person I trust going over my guitars. An asset to the music and guitar community here in Phoenix. Thank you read more

Zeb is great on a guitar, no doubt talented in that skill. As a person, mixed ideas but can't say the positive outweighs the negative. Definitely needs to build his communication skills and seek humility and learn to apologize for not being a healthy leader or gentleman. I'm not sure I'd use the word "narcissist" but the verdict is still out on that. read more

This place is top notch. Took a couple of guitars for a set up and after a quick turn around I can easily say they're the best place to get your stuff worked on this side of town. Fair pricing, nice environment, knowledgeable and professional through and through. Don't waste your time taking your treasured instruments to other places with sketchy work and ridiculous turn around time, they will take care of them as their own at AGW. read more

Atomic raises your expectations on how your instrument sounds and feels. Warning, once you get one done the others will follow! Highly recommended! read more

This place is great and Tim is great to work with and very knowledgeable. Whenever I have a problem or need a setup on a electric guitar I come here to Atomic Guitar Works. Tim's done fret work, guitar setup and general maintenance on a handful of my electric guitars and has done a great job. read more

so i have an ltd dave mustaine custom axxion guitar so its already a pain in the a$$....i bought all new parts for it including pickup rings, tuners, bridge ( and all its fixings), 3 way toggle, nut, pentometers, ferreals, literally everything but the pickups that come with that guitar which are the black chrome 18v custom dave mustaine seymour duncans. long story short i couldnt get the pickups to work so brought it in to atomic he quoted me 30$ to wire it all up would take about a week. fine that was cool....come 9 days later and i called and he said it was ready but it was gonna be 80$ and not the original 30$....i was like wtf ever just give me my baby back....i paid the 83$ or whatever....get home and noticed some weird shit done to my guitar. remember i bought all new stuff for my guitar he switched the inner knobs for all different ones that were smooth were you would put a volume knob .....the g and the b string were switched which i found odd as f**k, the battery wires werent going thru the holes that were made for it....and its still not wired correctly for 18v.....kills a battery in less than 20 minutes!!!!very very displeased with this service..... read more

I can't say enough good things about Tim and his shop "Atomic guitars". Being new to the area and it's climate, I called Tim after searching online. My acoustics had dried and were unplayable. Tim spent at least 15 minutes on the phone with me making recommendations and we had never spoken before. A true professional and great person. I have since had a number of repairs perfected by Tim's almost supernatural touch and am always overly impressed by his more than reasonable pricing which he attests to "volume!" He's a rare find in an industry that notoriously takes advantage of musicians. read more

The best guitar shop I've ever been to. Tim & Harry are consummate professionals. I've been bringing guitars to them for 10 years now, ranging from 5-figure custom shop instruments to imports, and they treat every one of my guitars with the utmost respect and consideration. They're master certified to work on Gibson and Taylor acoustics, which is an important variable to consider when bringing in non electric instruments. Over and above the quality of their work, they're just great guys. Always kind, conversational, and sharing their wisdom in areas that are helpful to players and owners. Highly recommend. read more

My guitar guru recommended Harry at Atomic to set up and service my guitars and I couldn't be happier. They have now worked on three of my instruments, my Les Paul, my Taylor and, what brings us to this review: my brand new Paul Reed Smith! I thought it sounded amazing when I brought it home but after Harry set it up it's incredible!! This is my new home for any guitar issue and I highly recommend. read more

Atomic Guitar Works was recommended to me by Bizarre Guitar, and a musician friend who good experiences here. AGW is about a 3 hour round trip for me, but after some unacceptable experiences with local Prescott repair I decided to give them a shot. So far I have had them do a repair on a violin with a cracked head, and a setup on a short-scale electric bass. I found AGW to be knowledgeable, customer service oriented, and quite capable of performing quality work at fair prices. I feel I have finally found a shop I can trust. read more

I cannot speak highly enough about the service provided at AGW. As a working musician for over 35 years, 17 of those here in Phoenix, I've found THE place that serves my needs and exceeds my expectations. I primarily perform as an acoustic soloist. The setup of an acoustic guitar requires a different skill set from a luthier, versus setting up and electric guitar, and the guys at AGW have it down. I take all my fretted instruments to Tim and always know that my guitars are in good hands. Bill D. read more

I have a 1982 Fender Strat that needed to be restrung and set up. I bought the guitar used quite some time ago and it had some customization done to it. I couldn't get it set up right since it has a Floyd-Rose bridge. I originally took it to Musical Surprise to see if I could have it set up. The tech at Musical Surprise recommended Atomic Guitar Works. The guys at Atomic Guitar Works were great! I wasn't sure if I even wanted to keep the Fender. But once they set it up it was great!!! I've taken my Eastman Jazz box to them for the initial set up with heavier strings and it is nirvana to play. I was took the jazz box in for a few quite adjustments that were done on the spot. read more

I bring my tele and Les Paul to Atomic for everything. Reasonable prices and professional service

Tim is so kind and really knows his stuff! We will always bring our stringed instruments to Atomic Guitar.

Great work, from setups to electronics. Harry silenced a hum in my Silhouette that the factory missed and did an excellent job installing custom Seymour Duncan pickups in my Thinline Telecaster. Highly Recommend read more

Excellent, these guys are experts at repair, set ups etc.... I had to wait a little because they are so good, they are busy. People told me they were the best, they are RIGHT, none better! read more

I brought 2 guitars in for different issues. I had fret buzz on one fret and one string on an acoustic and dead pickup in an electric. They were able to help me with both issues without charging me anything. They determined the acoustic needed to be humidified and the dead pickup just had some dust in the volume pot. Lovely people working there. I will be back for all future setups, repairs, etc. read more

The gentleman at this shop was very knowledgeable and offered me good advice on caring for my guitar! Seemed very honest and trustworthy. I would recommend him for guitar repair and will return for any other work I need! read more

I am totally impressed. Fantastic setup. I messed with other guitars but made this one unplayable. A first. Took forever to find a place like Atomic. Highest recommendation. Harry gets it too. Treated instrument with great care. read more

I needed at least one guitar I have to feel like the old 60's/70's Gibsons and Fenders I used to own back then. Brought in an Ibanez AF-155 and asked if they could get me that feel-like-butter vibe. The premium set-up they offered did the job. I love it. I'm new to the state and these guys came very highly recommended from a gear head I met. I'm extremely pleased with their craftmanship and quick turn over time. I will certainly be bringing in some more of my instruments to Atomic Guitar Works. read more

Took my acoustic in here for a crack repair, full setup and cleaning. Overall, I was very satisfied with the crack repair, they did a good job refinishing the crack so you can barely tell it's there. The setup and cleaning was a joke. When I got the guitar back there was absolutely no way that they cleaned it, there was still dust and spots on it. I had to take the guitar back because one of the strings was completely buzzing. I ended up taking it to another shop to get re-setup because they did such a crappy job (while charging a high price). I wouldn't recommend this place. Side note: they completely ignore you when you walk in - very bad customer service. read more

Just had my new guitar set up at Atomic. My guitar now plays and sounds awesome! Highly recommended.

Another awesome job to report. This time, I needed a MAJOR modification done to one of my other (prized) guitars. This actually involved routing the pickup cavities deeper on a guitar that is brand spanking new, so any minor mishap could be disastrous. Atomic pulled it off beautifully without a single scratch on the paint, nor any wood tearout, or any other mishaps. Love this place. read more

Great experience my first time in, they event lent me a case to ensure safe transportation back home. Thanks, I will be back soon.

I won't go into the whole rambling story of how I came to use this store (another store effed up a leveling job). Atomic Guitar Works are pros at guitar repair and building. They are custom builders of guitars. Harry is very friendly and helpful. They did an ace fret leveling and crown job on my brand new Stratocaster. So I'm spreading the news, this shop is good, very good, and I'll be taking more guitars to them for maintenance. Update: Ok I took a Fender Jaguar in for pickup replacement, new pickguard, a new bridge, and a set-up. Work was done very timely & Tim at Atomic was helpful in explaining what they did and how to maintain the bridge. Great experience again! read more

This is an excellent place, with fine people, great prices and professional grade guitar setup. I shall go there again!

Took a battle damaged 25 year old Carvin V220 to them. In summary, this is now not only My go-to repair shop, but also that of my friends, as well. If you want to read about the full experience, including before/after photos, you can see my post at the Carvin forums; http://www.carvinbbs.com/viewtopic.php?t=36614&postdays=0&postorder=asc&start=0 Suffice it to say, Harry & Jim do outstanding work and they have great dedication to their customers. One hopes to never need to see them again, but if I do, there will be no hesitation. read more

These guys are the only ones in the valley that I will let work on my guitars. Always a reasonable turn around time as well.

I recently acquired a 67 Greco Electric Guitar that needed some work. Two of the pickups were not working. I took it to a "Center" that shall remain nameless. Their solution? Gut the wiring and two new pickups to the tune of $400. Wanting to keep the guitar original I decided to get a second opinion at Atomic Guitar Works. Tim was helpful. He took the time to go over what could be wrong and how much it would cost. Turns out there were some wiring issues only with the pickups and for less than a 1/3 of the cost, this guitar is up and running awesomely. Its all still original. Don't waste your time at other Guitar places. Bring it here to these guitarsmiths and they will do you and your axe right. read more

Brought a Partscaster Telecaster in for them to do some neck and set up work. The guitar had a few issues. They were friendly, informative, and willing to spend the time to get to know the needs. What I really loved was the great communication. When they experienced an unknown issue they called, gave me a rundown, explaining in full the problem and solution, expected costs, and a new timeline which they honored like champs. They actually called me on the days they said they would! Other places are like dropping things into a black hole with very little communication through the process. Not these guys. Obviously love what they do and the Tele plays awesome! Real professionals! Definitely recommend! read more

Phil McKnight recommended that I go to Atomic when I said I wanted an unusual bass made. After a couple of phone/email contacts, where they weren't quite picking up on what I wanted, I went in and spent some time talking to Tim. As the conversation went on, he got what I was after, and was getting excited by the possibilities. In the end, he made me a great looking instrument that plays great and sounds even better. read more
