After attending a few weddings (after ours) and experiencing the music and performance from the DJs and hearing the couple and guest complain about their DJ playing a setlist that was not customizable and completely not what they discussed, I cannot help but always look back and be extremely grateful for Atmosphere Events. They were so amazing!! Atmosphere Events are hands down the best! They provide high quality lighting, logo lighting, spotlights and special effects that completely change the atmosphere of an event venue. The initial DJ we worked with since the begining at Atmosphere abruptly quit the company three weeks before our wedding leaving me anxious and nervous but Eric jumped in and made such an unforgetable experience. We had all of our guest requeat a song via our RSVP's and submitted the eclectic list and Erick, our DJ, definitely did not disappoint. Eric customized his set especially for us and it felt personalized. All our guests were excited when the song they requested played (as he even played even the non-mainstram, indie songs!!). When most wedding DJs seem to be sharing the same basic '70s, '80s and 90's hits playlist, Eric blew us away! Our dance floor was full all night and we got compliments from our guests. We are a very large celebrity makeup artist company called "The Masterclass" This company was the worst company we have ever hired in our 10 year history of organizing these very successful events. We hired this company for lighting. They brought the wrong lights to the event after 3 weeks of explaining what lighting we need for makeup. The owner Joe Paxton then texted his lighting technicians that were with us in the theater the night before our event which was taking place the next morning. "Take the lights and leave the theater now". I asked them where they were going when i saw them take the lights and they showed me the owners text. He then texted me which i have in my phone. "Im done" And after this have never heard from him again. They then walked out and we were left with no lighting fo this celebrity event of 1700 people, we had to spend over 7K last minute to hire another lighting company. He has never refunded us. He charged us $3800 for work that he did not even start and now will not respond to any emails or text messages for weeks. We will be suing this company not only for the money they took from us but also for the costs we had to incur due to this company walking out on us. Please see the attached photo. In this case it was a special and important occasion and I am more than willing to share my experiences and why the 1 star. I invite any yelper to personally DM me and I will share my +/- experience working with Joe and staff (and you can be the judge). As an avid and reputable Yelp reviewer (feel free to read my other reviews for legitimacy) I have no reason to lie. I did hope Joe and his staff would come through on all that was confidently promised, and maybe things would have been different if Joe (the owner) was there to cover the event. But it was far from what was discussed and our experience with Joe's staff/DJ was sub-par to disappointing. We had a follow-up meeting with Joe afterwards and all that ended up being discussed were circles of "he said, she said, blame game, excuses" no apologies. no accountability. no retention when asked for. If you do end up choosing Atmosphere, I really hope they live up to the hype to all the positive new Yelp reviewers give. Joe DJ'd my wedding back in July of 2015. At first, he was not my favorite vendor-he liked to communicate via email and I like to talk in person. Well, even after 8 years he still sticks out as the best vendor we had. I would recommend his services to anyone looking for a DJ. Although our wedding was in July it poured rain the entire day and our venue was outdoors. Joe took total command, rearranged the lighting, moved his equipment around and made it all work. He did not ask a bunch of questions, wait to be told what to do or add stress to anyone's plate. He played great music, worked well with the other vendors and wedding planner and made our day memorable. Our dance floor was packed the entire night. He was one of the first tables as we walked in, so naturally, we walked up to him. He was having a conversation with a gentleman from another booth, and I couldn't help but hear his conversation go on and on and on about how he knows which one of the attendees are serious about discussing and contracts and what have you. All the while, we're standing there. Staring at him. Waiting for him to acknowledge our presence, to offer us pricing, to tell us what on earth he does. And what do we get? Nothing, continuous ranting and raving instead of actually trying to get a customer. I only took his business card (and even then he didn't acknowledge us) so that I would remember to write this review. I hired Atmosphere Events for my wedding and they were WONDERFUL! Joe is a true and thorough professional. I was not Bridezilla at all (Bridechilla) and I didn't really have a lot of songs that needed to get played at my wedding. I told Joe that I wanted a dance party and to feel out the crowd and get everyone to dance. He did just that!!! I heard from a lot of people that it was the most fun wedding they've ever been to. He also did the uplighting and he even through in a monogram for us for free, just because. That is some great service. He handled the drunk (read: insulting) wedding guests like a pro and kept the pace of the wedding. We also got the photo booth which was fun and easy to use. Joe was our phenomenal DJ/MC at our wedding this past weekend at seven-degrees. He was very open to our wants and needs, played music that everyone loved, and made working with him very very easy. He went along with all of our crazy requests, provided guidance when we needed it, was mindful of the crowd and energy at our wedding, and also gave the time and attention needed to make sure everything was done the way we wanted. He was aces from start to finish. Also, he was very attentive and accommodating with the names in our party. Honestly, I'm surprised by some of these negative reviews here regarding Atmosphere Entertainment, and Joe Paxton in general. We have had nothing but great service and professionalism from Joe (and his team). Out of all of our vendors, he was definitely one of the most prompt when responding back to emails (often within the hour) and when we needed to add additional services/amend the contract. Further, our venue is very particular about the vendors it selects as the preferred/recommended vendors and Atmosphere was the only one selected for DJ services. In addition, our catering manager is very familiar with Atmosphere and had nothing but great things to say about Joe and his team. At our initial meeting, after discussing music options, Joe took us to the back where we were able to see all of our different lighting options and other add-ons, such as draping. It's one thing to see it in pictures but it was very helpful to see all the different uplighting options in person. Joe himself is a super nice, personable guy who is very laidback and goes with the flow, without losing quality and professionalism. He was definitely in sync with what we wanted in terms of music choices and promised us that he wouldn't play the traditional wedding music (e.g. YMCA, Electric Slide) which we absolutely 100% didn't want. We wanted a more "club" feel with a lot of contemporary/house/trance/hiphop music and he was able to deliver! A lot of our friends that regularly hang out in clubs in LV and LA asked us for his name because they really enjoyed the music. Even our parents/family members liked the change of pace from the usual dance music played at other weddings. He also was able to work with our budget and helped us create a great atmosphere and event without going overboard. We didn't have any problems with name pronunciation and everything went off without a hitch. My coordinator and photographer enjoyed working with Atmosphere and they were all able to be in sync to make sure everything went smoothly. All in all, we wouldn't hesitate to recommend him to anyone else needing a DJ for their event. We've gone to other weddings where the DJ was MIA half the night or played terrible/boring wedding music all night and Atmosphere definitely was not like that. Atmosphere entertainment was so helpful! We originally met them at a bridal expo and after receiving an email from them with some great offers we decided to make an appointment with them. I went on my own with a friend since my fiancé (now husband) couldn't go with me and Joe had this awesome office where he was able to show us the DJ set up, lighting etc. Super helpful and really wanted to make it our special day. I relayed the information to my fiancé and Joe was nice enough to set up another appointment to show his everything which was awesome. So we ended up booking with them and the package we got included a DJ, uplighting, cake pin spotting, a photobooth and book with all the prints! So much for a great price and the service was awesome. Throughout the entire process they helped us decide on music and the timing of things. They gave us a packet to fill in so that we could make better decisions about our music choices. About a week before the wedding, our DJ Richard Wayne contacted us to discuss our choices and made some suggestions for how to make things flow better for the ceremony and reception. He was super helpful. The day of was a whirlwind but Richard was awesome. The ceremony was delayed a bit but he just rolled with it. He was great at making sure we were happy and our guests were happy the entire night. He would check with us throughout the night to see if we were happy and keep us on schedule but we never once felt rushed. The photobooth was a HIT!! Everyone just kept saying how much fun they had in the booth. My only regret was that we didn't get to take more photos in the photobooth but I loved the ones we got. And the photo book they gave us was awesome! There were some awesome pictures in there. I can't say enough good things about the crew at Atmosphere entertainment. Professional, helpful and super fun. Awesome! 2 thumbs way up! Joe Paxton is very organized and thorough. My wife is an organizational freak and loves when people are on top of their stuff and experienced. Joe had some paperwork we had to fill out that basically went through the entire ceremony and wedding so we can see where music is needed. If we didn't know what song to play, he had good suggestions. My wife and I are 80's babies so grew up with old school west coast hip hop, boy bands, and pop. We are also from the Bay Area so wanted yay area hits. My wife is filipino so we also needed oldies classics and line dancing music. This is a pretty strange mix of music but Joe pulled it off! All our guests commented on how much fun they had and complimented the music. If you're on the fence about getting a professional DJ vs having a friend do it or using iTunes, spend some money on the DJ. My husband took the lead in this one area for our recent wedding on June 24, 2018 and he managed to chose an excellent vendor! We met with Joe awhile out before our wedding date to discuss what we were interested in and what our vision was. He was very down to earth and was able to demonstrate the lighting and extras he had to offer at his studio. My husband loved him and I felt good about him too so we went ahead and booked him that day. He sent us home with our music sheet to fill out and a contact email as well as number, which I used frequently and he always responded. As it got closer to the wedding I got more anxious, and reached out to Joe again. He responded quickly by saying our DJ Max, would be contacting us that week and also provided us with Max's phone number should we want to contact him sooner. I was very stressed before our wedding and I contacted Max several times and he always answered and was always kind and patient with me! He even called the night before to go over music one more time and to check in on me, since he knew I was little out of it! Max took our music list and played everything we wanted, when we wanted it, and was able to play music that fit in perfectly with who we are! I love these guys. My office was looking for someone to DJ and Light a corporate event and so I began asking around. I asked a friend of mine who had recently gotten married who they used and they said Atmosphere Entertainment. The music and the lighting were great at their wedding so I decided to give them a try and man am I glad I did. Got the number and I called the office. I spoke with Joe and he was great. We discussed ideas and what I was looking for and he was spot on. On the day of the event everything was as planned. We had over 300 guests at our event and everything went off without a hitch. Joe said a simple request would have resolved the issue. I asked 3 times to have the music turned down. How many more times did I need to ask? Since I had expressed how important this was to me I should not have to had ever asked. Joe should have checked with me if it was ok. I wasn't seated very often I was walking around the room visiting with my guests so to say it was where it was where I was seated that made it too loud is incorrect. I have a hard time believing any of my guests asked if he would turn the music up since so many of them had to go outside to talk. In the days following the wedding I have had way too many of my guests tell me how beautiful the wedding was but the music was too loud to be able to visit. Joe is right communication is key. I did communicate with him 2 times before the wedding and 3 times that evening. I was there to enjoy my son's wedding. I should not have had to interrupt my evening to make my request. I am sorry Joe doesn't like my review but I am also not happy that he felt the need to contact my son on his honeymoon and complain about MY review instead of reaching out to me first. I have given an honest review on how I felt about my experience with him. It would have been nice if I had received an apology that it didn't go the way I expected instead of accusing me of not communicating with him. read more

Joe was great. Our Wedding planner Linsey recommended him to us as she had used him for other events in the past. When we first met with him he was very courteous and his show room was amazing. He first went over all of the packages that he offered and he also had a deal that month that was to good to be true. We decided that his services were in our budget and signed the contract. He went over other options that we could add on such as the photo booth, monogram, extra lighting and speakers. We didn't have an idea of how much more we could spend since we were in the beginning stages of planning so he suggested that we think about it and when we have our final detail meeting we could add it on. We did decide to add the monogram, extra speakers, and an L monogram (for Lopez) since he already had it pre cut. The day of the wedding everything was great. He arrived on time and played all of the songs we had requested for the ceremony and played variety of music at the reception. He came up and checked in with us before he announced our bridal party then came up as we were settling into our seats with his assistant who would be helping with the Spanish music. Our guest had such a great time and no one ever wanted to leave the dance floor because the selection of music was great all night. He really kept the party going and really made sure everyone was having a good time. Even my 90 year old aunt was on the dance floor and had a great time. The lighting of the room was great. Joe allowed us to pick out our colors during our meeting and showed us all of our options as far as pin lighting and extra "club like" lighting. From these examples we were able to make our decisions and were able to see how everything will come together. all in all in we had a great experience with Joe and his team and would recommend them to any of our friends read more

Even though they were MCing and playing the secondary music (to the band), they made the night come together. The lighting was amazing and totally set the mood for each event. Hello everyone let me tell you atmosphere events did my wedding reception and besides the DJ being intoxicated the whole time. My Bride and I could not even hear the music or any of the speeches that were given. The first dance we have ever done as husband and wife well like I said couldn't hear the music. We had an appointment with Joe and we showed up a few minutes early and Joe was gone and another employee was there. The first thing he said to us was "Your appointment was at 3, it's 3:30" and we knew for sure it was 3:30 because I don't get off work until 3. He told us Joe had to leave unexpectedly and he had to be in Long Beach for a wedding set up and couldn't talk long. We were so turned off by the unprofessionalism. We felt like we were wasting his time during the 30 minutes we were there. His phone rang 3 different times and answered it every time and had conversations as if we weren't even sitting right in front of him. After that we quickly knew we wouldn't be hiring them for our wedding. They're a popular entertainment company for weddings but they act too good. If you are looking for a quality DJ company and want your wedding to run smoothly look for another DJ company. Carlos our DJ provided by Atmosphere Entertainment was not very prepared for our wedding on 9/21/13. Music during our ceremony was not played in the order that we requested. Carlos played the wrong recessional song before changing it so we had an uncomfortable pause at the alter before exiting. There was no transition from music to speaking, only awkward silence and stoppage of music during dinner. The night before the wedding Carlos said he could not find one of our songs on iTunes "Little Talks by Of Monsters and Men" and said every download he had was bad but if you look on iTunes it is there and I have downloaded it and the quality is great. The biggest complaint is Carlos DID NOT have the Atmosphere Entertainment reception profile time line that we spent hours completing. When meeting with Carlos 2 days before our wedding he said he had it. We spent numerous hours on the time line since Joe the owner of Atmosphere Entertainment said that the DJ would follow it exactly. I had to personally break down items with Carlos to be completed during our wedding. I am disappointed that I had to spend time out of my wedding to micro manage the DJ. We even had to print a copy during the reception to give to Carlos. He ran about 40 minutes behind schedule and we had to cut things short or completely remove it from the reception. I had a confrontation with Carlos about starting the next event and his response was he was running on someone else's schedule. I had to remind him who's wedding this was and who paid the bill before he would budge. I was not looking forward to spending my wedding coordinating the next event and having issues with the DJ. The microphone would cut out during the speech which we had to personally coordinate with our speakers since Carlos said there was no one to manage the music and the microphone. I am very upset with the service of Atmosphere Entertainment and lack of preparedness of our DJ. When I look back at our wedding the only thing I would change is our DJ. The thing that bothers me is I addressed my concerns with Joe the Owner about Carlos and his lack of communication with me. We did not meet our DJ til the week of the wedding since Carlos spelled my fiance's name wrong on her email and we never received his email for a meet and greet, that is just an example of lack of paying attention to the customer. I had to make multiple contacts with Joe and he promised that Carlos would perform and pull through, which he did not. I would never refer Atmosphere Entertainment to anyone. Above is the email I wrote to Joe and Joe contacted me about my review email on Carlos. I informed Joe that I was writing only to inform him about the poor quality of his DJ. Joe offered to give me a refund if I would conference call with him and Carlos so I did. That was the worst decision I made. I spent 30mins defending myself as Joe and Carlos teamed up to defend themselves. The conference call went no where and I had to excuse myself from the phone discussion since it was clear Joe was going to believe everything his DJ said and the whole time he had no incentive of giving me a refund. read more

Unfortunately, Atmosphere was the only vendor we were truly disappointed with out of all the vendors we hired for our wedding. Initially, it looked promising. We wanted lighting at our wedding and looked at a few different companies. Atmosphere had solid reviews and the meeting with their sales guy Joe was professional. We ended up narrowing the selection to 2 companies and ultimately chose Atmosphere because they did lighting design for our venue before. Email correspondence after signing the contract went smoothly and I submitted my gobo design a month and a half before my wedding. Then two weeks before my wedding, my husband received a call that they couldn't order the gobo design we selected and asked us to submit another request. No problem, we sent a new selection same day. Fast forward to day of my wedding, I walked into the reception room when the uplights had been set up and I was very pleased and made an indirect comment that it looked great. There were still working on the other half which were the pin lights and gobo - neither were turned on yet. I was then whisked off to the ceremony so the next time I walked back to the room was when the reception started. This is when things went wrong. When I sat down, that's when I noticed the gobo design wasn't what we selected. Instead of the rustic nature design, it was a space cosmo pattern. I looked more closely at the tables. Only 4 pinlights of the 14 were turned on, the rest were pointing in other angles and the room itself looked odd because of it. I later synched up with my coordinator and found out the following: -The lighting guy said it was his first event that he was taking the lead on, the venue coordinator said they'd never seen the guy before (disappointing since we hired the company not only for their experience but their experience at our venue). -He was told to wait for approval from the coordinator but ended up taking off before this. -When he returned at the end of the night, we found out he was double booked that night which is why he probably headed out before the approval. -The pin lights had been pointed at eye level and when guests came in, they complained that the lights were blinding so the wait staff had to move them. I expressed my disappointment to Joe and this is what I learned. The lighting guy took my indirect comment as final approval - despite the fact that only half the room was set up and he was informed in advance to wait for final approval by the coordinator. The gobo design we selected did not come in on time and we were informed that it takes one month to order. I had to tell him we ordered the design a month and a half before the wedding and when we were told two weeks prior to make another selection, we were never told there was a chance it would not come in on time. Joe admitted this was an error on his part and offered a refund for the gobo only, nothing else. (I still have not received my refund check. He's lied and said he sent it and I cashed it.) I think I'd remember doing that. Joe blamed the pin lights on the mirror centerpieces on the table. Guests had complained of the direct lighting in their eyes not the reflection bouncing off the centerpieces. Overall, I was disappointed with their services but more so their lack of accountability. Had they admitted that their lighting person was more green and that they should have definitely waited for approval, I wouldn't have felt the need to write this review. I'd think carefully before hiring Atmosphere as the sales pitch does not match the actual service. But if you do, only get the uplights, don't bother with the rest. read more

Update: I received a call from Joe this week to go over my experience....Only AFTER my less then stellar review. He was extremely defensive and even proceed to fabricate lies. He said that I gave my paperwork/discs late. I proceeded to tell him I gave him my info before the deadline and he responded with a childlike "No, you didn't" "You were late" "You gave it to me Wednesday" and pushed back on every experienced we had on our wedding day. After the phone call with Joe, I forwarded him the emails we exchanged to drop off my information and discs- Friday, July 12 at 3pm, three weeks before my wedding. I never received a responds or an apology from Joe for insinuating that I was a disorganized liar. Joe also stated that he had never received contact from coordinator- another lie. She reached out on July 22nd- I have those emails as well. My coordinator called Joe after the wedding to express concern over our experience: vendor to vendor. He was also extremely defensive to her as well. I would like to think if Joe cared about the quality of service he is offering, he would have called me after my coordinators call to just "Follow-Up". So far three (my husband also got a call) people have had conversation with Joe after our wedding....at which he was plain and simple: a jerk. He has alienated the other vendors at my wedding as well, at which they will not be referring other couples to Atmosphere. At the end of my phone call with Joe, I did receive a half-hearted apology for how I felt about his services. If Joe and Richard had simply apologized from the start, a review would not have been written and neither would this update. I just want to say MAX was amazing!!! The best DJ ever!!! He kept the party going all night!!! he even SANG at my wedding! He was the best dJ I could ever ask for!!! If u want someone to keep the party going u need max!!! I have no words on how he made my day so amazing! Thank u max for everything!!! U were the best DJ ever!!!!! Pleaseeee never stop what u do because I even had people ask were I got u from!! I hope that u continue because u are the the best dJ I ever encountered!!!!
