The good news..... the packing crew was fantastic. Very professional and respectful. Everything arrived from LA to St. George, Utah in 3 days, same truck, NO BREAKAGE!!!! Everything that mattered arrived in perfect condition The crew rebuilt and antique lamp that had come apart in transit. The not so good....responsiveness with the office was terrible. We had to struggle to get any communication. Also disappointing.....we paid for unpacking and debris removal. When the delivery crew left we still had 60 boxes to unpack. We could not get the originating office to respond for debris removal. Thankfully, the corporate office put me in touch with the St. George office. They were very good at coming to remove the boxes. This company screwed me over royally. Stay far away. Atlas Van Lines and their agent, California Moving Systems, along with the contracted day laborers they hired (who are not actual Atlas or CMS employees), completely destroyed my belongings and my trust in the moving industry. I started the process optimistic, having been strongly referred to California Moving Systems by my realtor, Terri Chapman of Chapman Realty Group in El Dorado Hills, CA. Not only did both Atlas and California Moving Systems take zero responsibility for the damage they caused, but my own realtor -- after collecting her full commission and repeatedly pushing me to use this company -- completely abandoned me the moment problems surfaced. Her slogan, "I've got your back," now just conjures images of betrayal. She orchestrated the entire move, managed every detail, and then vanished right alongside Atlas and California Moving Systems when the disasters started piling up. My story is unfortunately not unique -- it mirrors the majority of the negative reviews already posted about these companies. The move cost me $34,000, and working with Atlas Van Lines and California Moving Systems was an absolute nightmare. They broke well over 120 items -- I literally lost count. Most shocking was how they managed to destroy a massive quartz rock that requires 2-3 grown men just to lift, pack, and move. Among the broken items: my $23,000 couch, my $2,000 Jensen Leisure Swing, yard art, nearly all my dishes and glassware, a shattered wood partition, and countless holiday decorations (Christmas and Halloween). The list goes on and on. They also lost items, including a lamp shade. Their so-called "guarantee" is completely meaningless. The customer service is nonexistent. Avoid Atlas if you care about the furniture they will be moving and don't bother with their insurance, they won't honor it. They broke a table, scratched up MOST of our matching wood furniture, ripped the seat cushion on a chair, and ripped a mattress topper. While they were packing up our furniture, we made sure to let the mover in charge know. However, when we got to the new place and made a claim, according to Atlas, the movers told them that they didn't damage anything. Our daughter was hurt walking down the ramp Atlas placed on our stairs and they didn't care enough to even reach out and make sure she was okay. Over the summer, our family moved across county so we decided to use Atlas moving company. Their sales representative was nice and kept us up to date with everything happening so we felt comfortable with letting them move a majority of our furniture and boxes. It's understandable that items can be broken on accident, so we opted for the extra insurance Atlas offered. On moving day, the movers placed a ramp on the steps from the house to the garage. However, there was no grip tape on the ramp and it was very slippery. Our daughter, needing to place her bag in the car on moving day, went down the ramp as it was the only access to the garage from the house and slipped backward, hitting her head and back and breaking her laptop (which was in her bag). We took her to the er to make sure she did not have a concussion, which luckily, she did not. However, she was in pain the whole trip to our new house. We let Atlas know about this and they did nothing, not even email or call to ask if she was okay. The house we had planned to buy fell though, so we had them place things in a storage unit instead of a house, big mistake. It cost extra to have them put things in a storage unit instead of a house. Since the storage unit was so packed, we were unable to check to see the full damages until after we were able to start moving things into the new house. We kept track of everything that was scratched and damaged by their movers and sent in a claim when we had a full list like their coordinator asked us to. After, she ghosted us for TWO MONTHS until we reached out to the sales representative that we initially contacted at the start of this. After emailing the sales representative, she suddenly got back with us. Our claims representative with Atlas had advised to wait to make a claim until after we had a full list of what was damaged, so that's what we did. This apparently was also a mistake. After making a claim, Atlas said that since we PAID extra to have them place things into a storage unit none of the damages were covered even though we had opted for the extra insurance Atlas offered. The only thing they gave us a settlement for was the table that they ripped the top off the base/legs when moving it from our house into their van. All the scratched up matching wood furniture that we loved, nothing. The ripped-up chair and mattress topper, nothing. It's hurtful to see how little care and value Atlas placed on the people and items they took responsibility for during our move. They didn't care for the injury our daughter had on moving day on their equipment. They didn't care for the damages to the furniture that has been in our family for years, helping us make our previous house a home. read more

I would love to give them a negative star review. Ace Relocations lost my entire master bedroom of $10000 worth of possessions. This would be all my clothes, shoes, makeup, hair items, photo albums, many treasured books and personal mementos I have had since I was six and collected for multiple decades. They told me they could not trace the items. How does a company loose an entire room full of things? This has been a nightmare of a move. For one, my customer service representative was horrendous at communication. She didn't tell me until the movers had been at my place for multiple hours when they were coming. And when the movers did show up they had been given the wrong weight for my apartment and had to find another truck and more help since they were told a lower number than the actual estimate. My customer service rep also didn't reply to my emails unless I had a second person tagged in the email. Or she would just be mysteriously gone all the time when I attempted to call her. Then there's the missing of an entire bedroom. The big items came like my bed, but all of my boxed items from my master bedroom did not show up and they said they couldn't trace it. They sucked and lost or broke multiple items not to mention that the crew failed to follow strict instructions on what we wanted to take and not take. To make matters worse they packed things with 0 reasoning or organization so we found silverware inside boxes full of clothes and canned goods in crates with books and electronics. I have had such a bad moving experience with Atlas Van Lines, Imlach Movers, and Ace Relocation Services that I really regret using them for my move. Days after a very tiring cross-state move, the driver simply texted that delivery would occur the following morning at 8am. With less than 24-hours notice from the driver, I ended up arriving alone to a remote storage unit, where I repeatedly felt rushed and very uncomfortable with the delivery. The four-person crew quickly packed and stacked items in the darkened storage unit, despite my repeated requests to fully inspect things in daylight. Some furniture appears to have been placed without protection from scratches, dents and moisture, even directly on the concrete slab. The crew moved so quickly with so many items that I was basically reduced to just checking off their item numbers. My complaints were met with mocking and aggressive behaviors, including a threat to leave. Once, the driver forced the crew to take a break, but then the process started all over again. I now wish I'd recorded everything from the moment Atlas Van Lines, Imlach Movers, and Ace Relocation Services arrived, to have a video record of the movers' words and tone, their gestures, and the overall rushed and unfriendly experience. I expected my move would be done with delivery, but troubles and frustration continue more than two months later. The claims process been very tiring and frustrating. I have communicated with multiple representatives and their supervisors at the companies, yet my time spent on calls and emails to Atlas and Ace hasn't helped. Ace and Atlas advised filing a claim for damages but then also said they'll only accept a single, once-and-for-all claim. How could I possibly know the extent of all damages before being able to inspect everything? I still haven't seen all my possessions. When I have offered to meet at the storage unit and finally inspect everything, they have simply refused and offered no productive steps forward for inspection. It has been extremely frustrating trying to work with them. Instead of being able to get on with life, I'm having to spend time communicating with attorneys and hoping I'll eventually get fair treatment from Atlas and Ace. This isn't what I needed from my move. I seriously regret my choice of Atlas Van Lines and Ace Relocation Services and will never make that choice again. read more

I have moved 36 times in my life so I am a very experienced move consumer. Never again will I hire Atlas World Group/Atlas Van Lines, Inc. Our international move from Washington State to British Columbia was, by far the worst I have experienced. Please hire anyone else but this company (I've worked with ALL of them in the US and Canada at one point or more in my life). Just to name a few of the issues: * Left boxes randomly in rooms in our new house (despite every single box being label with room and contents - this was an international move) * Dragged our mattresses uncovered through dirt * Rolled our Ethan Allen high gloss cherry table across the gravel driveway * Left heavy carpets unrolled two stories above where they were supposed to be * Left chairs broken and left for dead * Had to put a significant portion of the load outside on our deck due to hugely inefficient unloading and placement inside the house * And then to top it all, leaving a trail of garbage across our property and our neighbor's - now that's how to introduce yourself to a new community! :(((( The worst part of the experience is they have been dragging their feet for over a year in responding to our concerns. If I could leave 0 stars I would. If you are in Canada, get Tippet Richardson or AMJ Campbell. In the US, Allied and Bekins have been great for us in the past (as has Atlas but never again!). Moving is super stressful - your movers are supposed to handle your belongings and your home with care and professionalism. Our boxes were busted up, and delivered on their side or upside down. They lost several boxes. We are still discovering things that are missing. A box of my favorite handmade paintings! Several other boxes missing, and we received 2 boxes that weren't ours. They refused to replace anything, saying that we should have told them upon delivery what was missing. That's ridiculous! Atlas was a train wreck: they lost and ruined tools, furniture and appliances. When we made a claim for $3,000; they offered $100. After multiple complaints they made a concession offer of $500 wrapped in an accusation that we were fabricating the loss and couldn't prove it. Not happy with Atlas! They did our move from Ohio to Wisconsin. Things were more or less jammed in boxes. Some heavy on top of light. TV was packed in original box but no cord to plug it in. Must still be on wall. Asked them to pack up bathroom and hallway closet. Things just tossed in box. Plus did not do closet at all. Have to replace some of my medical supplies. Instead of hiring this company, I would strongly advise that you throw your stuffs away; they would not be usable anyway when they will be delivered to you. Also, please don't sign anything unless you are absolutely certain what you are signing for; otherwise you would regret big time. I had to use this company as part of my relocation move. First, at the origination location, they made our mattresses dirty by not bagging them and then dragging them through dirty floor. Let them know right away and were told that those will be cleaned before delivery. Kept those mattresses in a storage facility for a month and then were delivered without cleaning on a Friday afternoon and we had to live through the weekend without anything to sleep on and finally were able to talk to them and they send somebody to clean it; who drowsed those with water taking 5 days to dry. In the end, mold grew on them and we end up buying new sets of mattresses. I could go on and on. We could not find one single piece of furniture without damage. Our washer and dryer were broken. Then they play all dirty tricks available to deny our claims.Two months of unbelievable ordeal; I just wondered how these people sleep at night working for this company. read more

Things break during moves, of course. But be fully aware of Atlas's approach with reimbursement! I submitted a request for full reimbursement when the movers broke my television and smashed two tables and a bookshelf to pieces. Several more smaller items were broken, but I assumed that given how badly my things had been damaged, the company would just quickly finish the process and cut the check. Naive. I provided links to each of the items online, thinking I was being helpful. Instead, the claims adjuster waited until the items were on sale, and then offered the sale price for the items as the settlement amount, even though she knew the sale would be over before I'd be able to purchase the replacements. When I asked her to check again on a date we agreed upon the following week and send an updated settlement, she waited 5 days past the agreed-upon date, until the TV model they had decided was close enough to mine was on sale, and sent a settlement offer lower than the first one. This felt vindictive and childish at best. Really one of the worst experiences with any business I have ever had. We did a cross country move for a 3 bedroom house with a Bouch moving, who contract with Atlas. Here are the numbers: - 3 bedroom house (no couches, no dining room table, no dining room chairs, 1 bed, 1 baby grand piano (about 500 lbs), 1 washer/1 dryer, no other appliances, lots of other stuff) - Cost: $16,300 - Days to deliver: 25 (didn't even get picked up for 14 days) - Calls from Atlas to update us: 0 Absolutely horrendous experience. The only calls we received for updates were from the drivers wife, the first about 22 days after our stuff was picked up. I highly recommend using another service for a cross country move. read more

MOVE FROM NJ TO VA: DISASTER! This review is to save anyone who wants to avoid having their personal property and old and new home damaged and or destroyed by this unprofessional company that claims to be professional movers. 1. THE COST: Their price is on par with moving companies that actually move you themselves. Atlas Van Lines outsourced the move to a local company in NJ called Santiego Worldwide Inc. Moving & Storage, which turned out to be a bunch of local hires that ripped my couch, left scuffs on the walls and ceilings, and left me feeling nervous the entire time. 2. THE MOVE: Where to begin...the staff at Santiego Worldwide Inc. Moving & Storage, changed my delivery date 3 times! We didn't see our property for 2 weeks after pick up. And when they finally decided to deliver the items, they forced delivery on a day that worked for them, not us. I had just started a new job and my boss was furious that I was already taking a day off in the middle of the week, But Atlas Van Lines and Santiego Worldwide Inc. Moving & Storage didn't care. 3. THE MOVERS: On pickup the movers, who appeared unprofessional, spent hours tagging every item with a number and writing the numbers down on an invoice. On delivery day, the movers disregarded the number system and dumped everything off their truck as quickly as they could wherever they saw an empty spot. We even found other peoples items and are missing items of our own. The movers on move out day and move in day also damaged ceilings, damaged walls, and trampled over our plant life on the outside of our house. They slammed down boxes, scratched new floors, and broke many valuable things. Somehow they even carelessly broke my framed diploma and tore my diploma from 15 years ago. 4. OUR BELONGINGS: It all started when we noticed that the truck that delivered our belongings to Virginia was not the original truck that Atlas Van Lines and Santiego Worldwide Inc. Moving & Storage packed our things into back in NJ. This means they unloaded all of our things and carelessly jammed them into a new truck. No wonder so many things were damaged, broken or dirty. This company damaged irreplaceable antique furniture, destroyed modern furniture, broke glass in boxes that were properly packed with bubble wrap and paper, lost some of our items, and even gave us items that didn't belong to us. We also found MICE in a box that must have been stored at their facility. We had to call an exterminator to get rid of the vermin. Over $10,000+ worth of destroyed furniture and valuables, damages to both homes, contractor repair costs, and exterminator costs and Santiego Worldwide Inc. Moving & Storage had us work with a claims adjuster from Atlas Van Lines who actually ONLY wants to refund $451 dollars, because they only pay 60 cents on the dollar per pound. They care nothing about how they handled themselves or the actual worth of your property. I'm not sure what else to write other than save yourself the trouble. We will be taking legal action against this company for proper restitution and so that hopefully others do not have to go through the same ordeal. read more

When my furniture and belongings left my house in Arizona they were all in one piece. So far so good right? When they finally arrived in Massachusetts 2 long weeks in a hotel later, everything had been taken apart including my bike. When they tried to put things back together it was a disaster. My desk now wobbles, as do the book shelves. I had to bring my bike into a repair shop to the tune of $180.00 in repairs. My beautiful coffee table has a big crack across the top. There were numerous issues relating to customer service such as extremely poor communication and each person I spoke with told me something different. But the worst part is most of my items were damaged. I paid extra to have Atlas pack my TV, which arrived shattered and crushed. Two pieces of furniture were broken into pieces. Numerous other items were scuffed, scraped or dented. Some items were missing. Every box that was unloaded from the truck was torn or crushed. I have been trying for 2 weeks to get resolution. I have asked to escalate to a manager about the situation but they are always unavailable. Any other business would try to resolve a poor customer service issue, but Atlas does not care. They have already collected their money (charging extra the day before the delivery to boot) and have no intention to make it right. Absolutely would never deal with this company again! read more

Terrible experience since the beginning. Unresponsive, difficult to decipher misspelled emails, couldn't give me an update about my shipments whereabouts. Quoted me with the wrong "shipping rate tax"? So they took my stuff then added $1000 onto it, and oh yea, and its day 47 (don't let them give you that "extenuating circumstances" excuse) and still waiting for my stuff. We have moved several times without incident. That changed this past month when we transferred across the country and entrusted our entire household to Atlas. For starters, they hire untrustworthy contractors. Secondly, many of our items were damaged or completely broken due to packing negligence. For example, one box had an office printer with bathroom chemicals thrown on top along with loose lightbulbs and my unwrapped candlestick lamps. When I say they did a terrible job it is not an exaggeration. The worst is the theft of one of our guns. It was the only one we packed in a safe along with a few other things. It was a Sentry Safe and I had no idea how easy they are to open. It doesn't matter. The expectation is that every item should arrive at the new destination. They stole the gun and left the original box it was still packed in. Atlas refuses to accept any responsibility nor hold their contractors accountable for the damages and theft. Beware. I will never use this company again. After reading some of the reviews here we came out luckier than most but it is still outrageous to allow theft of your customer's items without compensation. read more

If I could I would leave 0 stars, we spent 34000$ for disassembly, relocating, and reassembly and when they were putting our furniture and items on the semi they were very rough with all boxes including the ones with fragile stickers on them. But the worst part is when they came to the new place instead of reassembling everything they threw it in the house with only 1 piece of furniture reassembled and over 5000$ worth of damage done to the furniture and in one of the rooms they chipped of a huge part of the wall trim and also damaged the front door and when we contacted the company they said they had no clue who we were. Not sure if they were making things up or if they leased there moving trucks to somebody else but we are very mad and ready to file a lawsuit for fraud, and damage to property! read more

Delivery was 3 weeks late - packing at origin was terrible with broken, lost items, disorganized labeling - 21 days of expenses for Atlas arranged lodging/meals due to delay has still not been reimbursed (as promised) - Atlas contract for claims Susan King does not return calls and has her email disabled (website is obviously designed to block customers). These folks are terrible if you have a claim. They denied my claim because they said my stuff was delivered to a mini storage unit but i did not sign nor did i received anything stating such, matter of fact i was told by their agent no problem, they all knew of my situation. I paid over $3,000.00 for packing and i tell you my grand-kids could have done a better job. Atlas did not even offer me a couple bucks in good faith... I had all of my paperwork, signed and ready to go and again i was lied to and simply not worth fighting.... Be careful if use these people and the be careful on who they use as their agent... Phils transfer & Storage in LA CA was a joke, from under estimating my weight to throwing and jamming my items in their trucks... I have attached a few pictures but the biggest one was the chandelier, no packing just thrown in a box with a blanket... broken, duh.. who does this ? certainly not someone who cares ! read more

This review is for both Gentle Giants (Los Angeles-Hawthorne CA) and also Atlas moving company as they are the ones who ultimately moved our household items (Gentle Giants packed our house up, then it was transferred to an Atlas truck, and Atlas unpacked our stuff into our new home. This was anticipated and expected. Well many people have far worse experiences, but ours was bad enough. The Gentle Giants packing crew did an ok job, but in a couple cases where I specifically said "this is very fragile and expensive and you please need to pad and pack it very well" to the vperson who was about to pack that very item ... I discovered later that they only put cardboard around it, with ZERO padding. Yes some of these items were damaged. Also a few things were packed in a way that they were guaranteed to be broken (and they were) Also Gentle Giants came and an expert estimator gave an estimate, but the actual cost was 10% higher. They said "it is because of the weight" Yes the estimator saw ALL of the stuff we were moving. So beware of that possibility. On the unpacking day, the Atlas driver (and person in charge.. this is normal) hired a local Atlas crew of about 4 young men. This is normal. First thing - the driver/crew chief/person in charge taped cardboard on the hardwood stairs to protect them from the dollies used for moving boxes, and that was good... however his local crew was removing tons of boxes from the truck very fast as he was doing this. There was lots going on, and I didn't realize what was happening 'till about a little while later (just when the driver had finished taping cardboard to the hardwood stairs) and I heard the driver/crew chief/person yelling loudly outside by the truck "You guys are way ahead of me and I have no idea what has come off the truck so the inventory is useless!" So basically the paper inventory of all the boxes #'s with nice check marks as to the box arrived safely, was useless. We had (and have) zero assurance that nothing went missing. So the Atlas driver/crew chief/person-in-charge didn't manage this important part of the job at all. So there were about 13 items (some valuable) that were damaged. I pointed out what we knew was damaged at the end of the move, and the driver/crew chief/person took photos with his cell phone and told us "these photos have now been submitted to Atlas" but during the long and frustrating "repair or replacement value" coverage these photos never surfaced. ( I didn't expect them to, realistically) The frustrating "repair or replacement value" claim with Atlas was ridiculous. I submitted the form, with photos, and Atlas kept coming back (many, many times) with what they called "fair and reasonable offers" that were a tiny fraction of replacement cost. All this was clearly documented and photographed by both me, and also they sent a local Atlas contracted claims person to look at and photograph the damaged items. Atlas claims literally just kept offering tiny fractions (or nothing) for damaged items. I'm a polite, professional reasonable person, and their conduct was outrageous. On one phone call I simply and politely said to the claims person "all i expect Atlas to do is to honor the terms of our contract" and the claims person seemed quietly shocked... as if I was one of the first people ever to state this so clearly. I strongly suspect that Atlas claims is simply playing the game of hoping the claimant will simply give up, and settle for far less than they are entitled to, by the terms of the "repair or replace" contract. (yes I read it carefully) After many months of this game Atlas was playing they finally just said ok we will pay you for the full amount of your claim... and they mailed a check. So - is moving a unpleasant experience? Yes. Could it have been far worse? yes. However - could the Gentle Giants packers have done a better job, especially on (but not limited to) valuable fragile items that I specifically indicated, to the person who was about to pack it? YES. Could have the Atlas driver/crew chief/person-in-charge of unloading the truck into our house ..... actually managed the local crew, delegated the cardboard taping to protect the wood stairs in our house, and actually DONE the box and item inventory as he was supposed to do? If I could give zero stars I would, my company used this company to move my family from St. Louis to Richmond. They first won the bid because the estimator under estimated the job and was going to pack the house up in half the time vs the other company. They were still packing the morning the truck showed up which then lead to them packing the truck till 10 pm. They then promised a date to deliver the goods and flight plans and hotel rooms were set up accordingly. Well they could not actually could not deliver that day so had to push it back three days. I argued and got my company to authorize overtime pay to get them to deliver on a Saturday which then turned out the truck breaks down. So they delivered Sunday. After they riffled the stuff in the house they have the 60 pages of inventory they want you to sign off on. I asked where was the fancy iPad they used to scan all the boxes they took out of my old house. The driver responded I am the one who unloaded and reloaded it, it was just one trailer. Ok fine I notice a new dolly I had just bought to help move these 6000 boxes is not here. The driver states I will note it on the file. I start a claim for a couple damaged tubs and the missing dolly for about 150 bucks. I did not claim many other things that have rubbed in the back of truck, two back pieces of couches, stainless steel fridge with dents on it now outdoor propane heater that the metal roof got all bent up. I figure it is part of moving. I get a call that they will only pay half the 150 claim because the driver did not report anything missing. That is when I lost it, I said ok I understand I will submit a claim for all the other stuff that I was living with. She tells me I can only make two claims which I have only made one so far. She then leaves me a message that she talked to the driver and he did verify the dolly so they will pay. Onto claim two they now state you can only submit one claim even though previously she said I can submit a second one. If you want to use a company that is very unprofessional and liars then these guys would be your best pick. As for me I would not recommend this company to any one that I know. Moving is supposed to be a exciting thing for you and your family and this company managed to ruin that for me and mine and I would not want that for you. read more

Do not use this company or any of it's contractors. They quoted me a price of $6500 to move my family across country -- after they got to my new home they tried to extort almost $8200 and threatened hold my goods hostage in storage for fees. I refused to play ball and asked why they bothered to send their "professional" to look at my household goods if their estimate could be so far off. I negotiated w/ them to pay only 110% (an additional $652 +) and they delivered my household. A month later they had the audacity to send me an additional bill for $1,078.99. Amazing that these people think they can extort people after they didn't even do their job. Just like other's posting their horrible experiences I had same problems -- broken things, furniture not put back together, dents in my $3k+ refrigerator. Please do not read negative reviews and assume they are an exception and your experience will be positive. We are currently nearing the end of a hellacious journey with this company. Or so we hope. This is a corporate sponsored, cross-country move, so options were limited. Atlas claimed they could fulfill an earlier date than the others could. I now realize they were making empty promises in order to make a sale. They changed the pickup date 3 times. This was majorly inconvenient as we already left and had to repeatedly make arrangements. To apologize, they gave us a $50 gift card. Seemed sweet then, but not anymore considering it can't even buy a bed bug infested motel room here for 1 night and we still don't have our bed. After an entire month "sleeping" on a deflating air mattress, our backs and minds have suffered. Instead of enjoying being newlyweds, we are dealing with this torturous process still. They have now changed the drop-off date several times. At minimum, they have used the "trucks broke down" excuse three times for being late. For not being clear on the timing, they claimed there is not a lot of cell service crossing the country. My husband and I drove across the country ourselves to get here in 4 days. We had cell service plenty and no car issues. My dad is an experienced truck driver. We're really not buying it. If iWe are full of regret for not seeking alternatives. TL;DR - Take out loan and haul your stuff yourself if your company does reimbursements. You'll get your stuff and your reimbursement for it sooner than from these people. I wish I could do ZERO stars. This company is horrible. We moved from Austin to DC. We got everything on the truck on June 11. We were told that the latest date that we would get our things would be June 23. Well, I'm writing this on June 28 - and our things are STILL in a warehouse in Texas with NO plans of shipping it out. They've been uncommunicative, rude, and unaccommodating. In short, they lied to us, then stole from us, and then complained to us about the fact that there are no drivers IN THE ENTIRE STATE OF TEXAS. We regret using this garbage company SO MUCH. They were late, disorganized, dirty, extorted money from us and conditioned the delivery of our goods to paying them extra money and caused over $13,000 in damages (and counting) to our goods. I delayed writing this review. Would definitely not recommend Atlas Van Lines for any commercial or residential move... in fact, avoid them. I hired their franchise in Lompoc, CA, for a 1,500mi, large residential move. Very large... 2-trucks. (Big $$). At both pickup and drop-off, I handsomely tipped and fed the men. With that many boxes, I knew it would be 100% impossible for my wife & me to unpack and inspect everything in short time... and told Atlas this. When finally done... there were many broken items. Boxes labeled "Fragile. Don't Stack" were crushed. Boxes labeled "This Side Up" were upside down. There was broken-damaged furniture. Broken picture frames... which Atlas packed! 1 worker saw he had just broken at item, and simply walked away, failing to notify his supervisor. Atlas Van Lines was completely unsympathetic, hiding behind timely filing deadline. At both pickup and drop-off, the hired muscle descended like a swarm of bees. With no supervision, things quickly got out of control. All my Warning labels on the boxes were ignored. As a result, much got damaged. This is what happens when the job is contracted flat-rate. Atlas' financial motivation is to move the boxes & furnishings in & out of the truck in the least amount of time possible; stacked as high as possible. F--- it, if anything falls over or gets crushed. All the while the driver-supervisor tells me, the paying-customer (who is trying to provide some needed oversight) "You will need to get out of the way." As the customer, Atlas expects you to be nothing but a silent spectator to all their mayhem. read more

There were a number of little things that didn't go quite right that ultimately made the experience very poor. I've moved across the country and between the US/Canada multiple times, this has been my worst experience. 1. The quote originally provide and reviewed did not clearly call out the extra cost of insurance which resulted in a surprise $300+ added to the bill at the end. I would have gone with another moving company if I had understood the full cost upfront. 2. We had trouble getting the moving truck into the pick up community, the driver went straight to telling me I would have to pay an extra fee because of it and when I called the representative he said he would look into it. Eventually we got the truck in and started the move but the representative never called back to check-in to see how things were going, understanding that the day did not get off to a positive start you would think he would check in again. 3. The representative told us there was no problem moving our 380lbs hot tub, when the truck driver got there he was not happy to find out he was moving a full-size hot tub and said he was told it was a blow up on. Very poor communication. 4. The truck driver insisted on taking apart all furniture, even pieces that were purchased already put together. We insisted on a few pieces of furniture not be taken apart, he only listen to some of it and still took apart others. 5. On arrival some of the furniture was put back together wrongly or not well and we had to reassemble. 6. On arrival pieces were missing from a TV stand, the driver said he either left them at a warehouse he was at the day before and if not he would replace the pieces for us. He ended up replacing some of the pieces but not all and when we requested he replace the rest of the missing pieces he stopped communicating with us. He did not write down the missing pieces on paper work because he did not want it to go on his record and I trusted he would stand by his word of replacing them but ultimately I was wrong and will never do that again. 7. We paid extra for two TVs to be packed for us, they did not get damaged but the packing was poor and not worth the money. read more

Worst moving experience of my life. And that's saying something. I've waited over 25 days for my stuff to move from Austin to LA, and my stuff is still in Texas! This is a nightmare. Customer service is a nightmare, they never pick up the phone and have been avoiding my voice mails. Now I am stuck without my stuff for the foreseeable future. Stay away from this company. Avoid these guys at all costs. They "lost" a $7,400 painting measuring 5 feet by 5 feet, a child's toy and a box of important files. Filed a claim a day after they delivered other stuff (three weeks late) with pictures, receipt and proof that we had taken out full insurance on the move. Denied. Claimed there was no proof they even took the "high value" item out of the house and that insurance was not insurance. Really?? So all that stuff magically disappeared? They also charged a third more than the binding estimate despite giving them a full accounting of the items to be shipped. Local affiliate in the Bay Area is Peeters Transportation. Want to bet that painting is hanging in one of their mover's living room? Use them at your peril. They WILL steal your stuff. read more

I hired these people to handle my move from the Sacramento area to Boise. It started off really rough and just got worse from there. They charged me for services they never preformed, the broke or damaged nearly $10,000 worth of our stuff, they stuffed 3 TVs into one crate destroying 2 of them, failed to inventory items until they loaded and damaged them, loaded items that are totally illegal for them to carry and then refused to unload them, damaged the home I moved out of as well as the new one, and now, after all this, they are refusing to repair the damage they caused my home and are dragging their feet honoring the insurance that they charged me extra to obtain. Their owner blames everyone else for the problems his company caused and is forcing my hand on both legal actions to resolve this and formal complaints with the FMCSA as well as the insurance commissioner for bad faith. I should have checked their reviews better before hiring then but I bought into the "family owned business" crap. The truly ridiculous part is that all of this could have been avoided had the owner and the claims people just of honored our contract but instead they have done nothing but blame everyone else, including me for the mistakes they have made. 5 weeks after the move was done they still have not even aut I can't stress enough people, watch out if you are looking for a moving company. If you don't mind all of your stuff being destroyed/damaged then this is your company. read more
