An example of the messy and inefficient unpacking. These are the contents of my filing cabinet, dumped into a box, ripping many of them.
    Jenn L.

I have moved 36 times in my life so I am a very experienced move consumer. Never again will I hire Atlas World Group/Atlas Van Lines, Inc. Our international move from Washington State to British Columbia was, by far the worst I have experienced. Please hire anyone else but this company (I've worked with ALL of them in the US and Canada at one point or more in my life). Just to name a few of the issues: * Left boxes randomly in rooms in our new house (despite every single box being label with room and contents - this was an international move) * Dragged our mattresses uncovered through dirt * Rolled our Ethan Allen high gloss cherry table across the gravel driveway * Left heavy carpets unrolled two stories above where they were supposed to be * Left chairs broken and left for dead * Had to put a significant portion of the load outside on our deck due to hugely inefficient unloading and placement inside the house * And then to top it all, leaving a trail of garbage across our property and our neighbor's - now that's how to introduce yourself to a new community! :(((( The worst part of the experience is they have been dragging their feet for over a year in responding to our concerns. If I could leave 0 stars I would. If you are in Canada, get Tippet Richardson or AMJ Campbell. In the US, Allied and Bekins have been great for us in the past (as has Atlas but never again!). Moving is super stressful - your movers are supposed to handle your belongings and your home with care and professionalism. I could have hired two teenagers for a case of beer and 2 pizzas and had more care delivered than I did in this $14,000+ USD move! Don't ever hire Atlas! Sincerely, Woman with 36 moves under her belt

Huge forklift holes in dining table

Oh how I wish I would have read these reviews before I hired Atlas Van Lines to move our household furnishings from MN to AZ,,,our dining room table arrived with 2 huge forklift holes in it!! A piece of granite cracked in half after I paid extra to have it crated,,,and working with their claims department took years off this senior citizens life,,,and I sort of expected the owner to contact me personally to apologize and make things right,,,guess he's hiding,,,

they called the day before to say when they'd arrive . They would be here between 8 and 10 AM at approximately 8 o'clock they arrived On the scheduled date. The driver and 3 other crew members! So polite and efficient...we were thrilled with how quickly they removed our belongings and covered furniture to protect them. we had NEVER used a moving company before, but we're so impressed!! we would highly recommend them again and again! thank you John Lutwyche for the referral....

A full month since my move, and still haven't received an acceptable settlement offer from Atlas.
    Cassie G.

Things break during moves, of course. But be fully aware of Atlas's approach with reimbursement! I submitted a request for full reimbursement when the movers broke my television and smashed two tables and a bookshelf to pieces. Several more smaller items were broken, but I assumed that given how badly my things had been damaged, the company would just quickly finish the process and cut the check. Naive. I provided links to each of the items online, thinking I was being helpful. Instead, the claims adjuster waited until the items were on sale, and then offered the sale price for the items as the settlement amount, even though she knew the sale would be over before I'd be able to purchase the replacements. When I asked her to check again on a date we agreed upon the following week and send an updated settlement, she waited 5 days past the agreed-upon date, until the TV model they had decided was close enough to mine was on sale, and sent a settlement offer lower than the first one. This felt vindictive and childish at best. All this is to show that if you are going with Atlas because of their reputation and for the belief that they'll take care of you if anything goes wrong, think again.

Fun fact-- our couch always creaked when you sit on it and once they took it apart to move it and put it back together, it didn't creak any more! Wow! We compared the price of other movers in the area and they were by far the most cost effective. I would absolutely recommend them to a friend and wouldn't think twice about using this company again.

From misquoting, to not having the right size trucks that they tried to shove our belongings into. To all the damaged, lost, or stolen property. This was also back in July. We submitted a claim, still nothing. The person that came to our home, tried to bully us, now to find out he is no longer there as he has been arrested. The new person wants us to start all over, they have all of our information have had plenty of time. This is already two months out. They even raised our price during the move! Day one, packing! Thank goodness I did the bulk, but let them do some stuff. Lets just say I found glass jars thrown in a box with canned goods. I went through each kitchen box they packed and repacked. Also found one cabinet was still unpacked. They wanted to wrap 65" tvs in blankets. I went and bought boxes and we did it ourselves yet they had charged us for them! Seriously. Then they destroyed the boxes in the move. So much damage to furniture. They brought two trucks but one was not the correct one, ended up getting a third truck and then they switched the two smaller trucks for a big one. Am adding a few pictures of their damage, again this is only a sample. Yet they don't want to pay anything, one excuse after another. Do not trust this company. Weird as I look at reviews, I have an email from Andrew stating they have never had a bad review. I see several.

I am a real estate agent & refer Shetler on a regular basis. 5. We have never taken out extra insurance. Our experience has been good & it never warranted it. We were told the crew they had now was the best they have had in years. Spending thousands of dollars with a reputable moving company should serve for something, right? The crew we had worked hard, were very respectful & we tipped them well. Moving is hard work & it was hot. But the negligence this time we thought had to be lack of training? Nothing was wrapped. Floors were not protected. Dolly's were not padded. A completely different experience from our last 2 recent moves. This is obviously the reason for the extensive damage to our furniture, walls & flooring. Negligence & lack of training. I really couldn't believe all the damage once it was truly able to be assessed. We were told we had to fill out a claim (I have over 60 photos of damage). The time I have spent on making my furniture look presentable & filing a claim is countless hours. I was told a magic eraser could take a lot of that off. I was told vacuuming could do that to the base of the furniture. Again, we did not take our extra insurance. Obviously their mojo is deny, accuse & turn any accountability around on the customer no matter what the history- our history was good. The treatment we have received has been complete disrespect & denial of any wrongdoing, questioning our integrity & saying we were slandering them. Instead of being empathic, they accused us of having prior damage. Let's not forget that Shetler has moved us every time. I have continued to ask what standard protocol is for a move? I even asked this question on a video of their Facebook page . My comment has been deleted & I have been blocked from their page. We spent thousands on this move going 10 minutes away($4400) . Nobody would ever tell what a basic move should include. I was told that each move was different. Again, no accountability. They decided to offer us a $500 good faith gesture & give us the .60/pound for the damaged items. The total of $1211 was comical. They said they could recommend a furniture repair person because we didn't take out the extra insurance. If you go to Two Men & a Truck they clearly layout what is to be expected & how the furniture will be wrapped & flooring protected. The treatment that was given to us as loyal customers was unacceptable. They want us to sign a release & take the money. This is not about the money. This is about doing what is right & hoping nobody else has this experience. We will not be signing any release or accepting a penny from them. I had really hoped Shetler would make this right & I would just not refer them anymore. It saddens me that our experience made me feel that I had to share.
