Landscape and Drainage Services - Playground

Landscape and Drainage Services

We had some drainage issues around our house, particularly with all the rain we've gotten over the…read morepast few years. Tim was great to work with, providing valuable info about aspects of the project I hadn't considered, and explaining everything thoroughly along the way. Landscape and Drainage extended downspouts, added French drains and drain boxes, and took down two trees. They also offered the best price of the three companies I got estimates from. I was so happy with the results and the experience working with them that I sent Tim to my parents' house, where he did additional drainage and tree work. Before and After pictures were all taken after significant amount of rain; you can really see the difference!

My wife and I moved into a 70 year old house on a hill. The previous owners had done quite a bit of…read morework - french drain, waterproofing the basement, 3 sump pumps, steel beam reinforced walls - but we spotted some water along the basement wall. Tim came out to look at that and a bunch of other stuff (future work), and gave us a plan to resolve the immediate issues. On the inside, his guys came out and jackhammered along our foundation, installed a new system to collect and direct any water seeping through the wall to our existing sump pump discharge line, and laid new concrete. They even worked around a bit of a curveball without needing to deviate from the estimate. Outside, they dug a 22-ft trench and installed a french drain to alleviate the hydrostatic pressure on the basement wall, routed our HVAC condensate line into the french drain, installed 2 new window wells which allowed them to grade the yard away from the house, and installed another french drain on the far end of the garden to help mitigate the flash flooding we experience there. They finished up by laying fescue sod over the affected area, making it look nice and clean. All of the work was done in two days, with some minor cleanup work on the 3rd day after the concrete had cured in the basement. The price was good, the guys worked hard, the work was done on time, and the final product was excellent. We will be using them again for our retaining walls, landscaping, and whatever else comes our way.

In the mist of the COVID pandemic, plants have become a thing. Houseplants, especially the exotic…read moreand rare varieties, can cost a pretty penny. Greenstreet Gardens is one of the few plant shops I physically visit for my gardening needs. Staffs are friendly and knowledgeable, and they carry some of the more common cultivars of Alocasia, Ficus, Philodendron and other Aroids. If you know, you know. As with most nurseries, the indoor tropical plants and succulents are displayed inside the vicinity. There's a small greenhouse across the main building where you can find some of the larger indoor plants. Outdoor in the back, you can find annuals and other seasonal plants. In the summer, they occasionally have succulents out in the back as well. FYI-- If you're loyal a plant parent, who tends to frequently shop for plant supplies, make a rewards card!

Greenstreet Gardens is a good, local nursery serving the DMV. One of the smaller nurseries I…read morefrequent in the area, Greenstreet operates year-round. They have a good selection of plants, however, as a smaller garden the selection of larger plants is not vast. In fact, it seems that aside from their young trees, their focus is on smaller plants which makes sense due to the limited space. I do appreciate that they offer young trees and have a good selection of hydrangeas in the spring. They have a good selection of hydrangea trees. The customer service is generally OK. Overall a good experience and I will continue to visit.
