I took on this company based on an amazing recommendation...and after talking to the salesperson Tony, he convinced me to go with them - good rate (decently priced, professionalism, and timing). i won't even get into the hypes as there are so few - but gripes - i have plenty: my GRIPES with SCAM-io: 1. They didn't come to do a walk through to see what all we had - and gave us a quote of 1500 dollars for the entire move ( we had a 2 bed 1.5 bath) 2. the quote was 1500 dollars but they ended up charging us MORE THAN 3000. 3. There were HIDDEN CHARGES which we argued we were not told upfront - bc they couldn't finish packing all in time, they required to keep our stuff overnight and move us the next day - there was a $200 OVERNIGHT fee for this. 4. They said they were sending me 4 guys to pack - they sent only 3 the days of. The guys did an OK job packing but WASTED a lot of material that didn't need it (used unnecessary amounts of paper to double wrap things that weren't delicate or needed it), picture boxes for things that weren't glass or fine paintings). 5. we were charged $800 in PACKING MATERiALS - like boxes and paper (note: most of the boxes were not full to the brim and paper was double wrapped as I discovered when unpacking) 6. TRAVEL FEE: like WTH is this. They charged us 100 dollars for a "travel fee" of the time it took to pick up their truck from their place to come to our apartment, and another 100 for the way back. So for two days that was another BOGUS $400 charge. 7. and in the end we had to get SCAM-io'ed and pay them bc they refused to deliver our stuff unless we paid them in CASH before they delivered. YOU SUCK SCAMIO. PLEASE BE CAREFUL IF YOU DECIDE TO GO WITH THEM.

During the Thanksgiving holiday window they picked up several roomfuls of furniture and art from my Grandma's house in New Jersey and delivered the property to Virginia without leaving behind damage or packaging. As I am active duty in the USN, it is difficult to coordinate with service providers during g work hours. Lou and his guys met me on a Saturday morning. They delivered a truckload of furniture in just a couple hours. As an added challenge, my (basement) apartment is down a narrow, steep, concrete staircase and the entrance is through my kitchen. A two part review…read more.. Met up with Lou Pensa back in April to get a free estimate for our moving needs. First off was what we were taking from our home. Then I had to escort him to the storage unit that we've been using since last November. Our move took place over a couple of days. An hour and 1/2 with four guys for the storage unit on Monday. It was two offloading the 12 x 10 space, while the other two uploading their truck. Then this past Wednesday 5 guys took care of our home. The key here is getting that Parking permit that was recommended by Lou. It only cost us $30 for the day. If you don't have a driveway and or garage this is definitely the way to go. It was right in front of our home and good from 8-4. Only took them another 3 hours total to empty out the house and delivery to our new condo. Butch was the chief both days and did a fabulous job with his crew along with Carlos, Carlito and Mike. Thanks guys for making this an easy move.

The fact that I'm a repeat customer says it all -- Katz has always been professional, transparent, fast, and efficient in a category that is generally not these things. Katz has always made the terrible process of moving better for us, even when something does go wrong -- in our most recent move, the movers were very delayed in getting started, but Bjorn (head of operations) made it right by giving us a discount right away, and showing up on site to get things started himself. And Vincent, Wade, Robert, and Mike (the crew of movers) did an amazing job caring for our stuff, all made harder by moving on an absolute scorcher of a day (over 100 degrees). In fact it was the second time Vincent and his crew moved us, and he (and all of them) were great. Highly recommend Katz for your next move -- we will definitely use them again if we happen to move down the line!
