All the theatres include exquisite architecture. From detailed lobbies, to unique art, they have it all here. Grooving through the Allen theater for the CPH performance of A Christmas Story, I was throughly impressed with the cast, sets, and audio quality. The show was full of energy and the cast executed the plot wonderfully. I hope all those cats make it big. The only negative to my experience was the two women who drinking wine in front of me. It was quite strong and stimulated my gag reflex during the show. One would get tipsy just by sitting in their section. And they kept purchasing the drinks from the concession stand. Maybe CPH should consider having an "Friends of Bill W" meeting room if they continue to serve alcohol. Speaking of the concessions, buyer beware, it's cashless. In addition, and most important, they still have the soft pretzels from my childhood . Bottles of water are expensive, so bring your own, or maybe just plan on being dehydrated. Regarding the comfort of the Allen Theatre, specifically the seats in Allen were much more comfortable than the nasty red tiny velour ones in the large Playhouse Palace Theatre. There's enough room in aisles to stretch your legs and not feel like you need a knee replacement, after sitting through a show. The Allen Theatre is the perfect sized theater, with great angles from all seats, not too small, or too big. Dancing back to the lobby, you will find some rather tacky white pleather sofas... similar to the pants you may have owned in the 70s. These sofas look clunky & out of place, and I feel these need to be removed immediately to preserve the old time feeling of the building and historic culture of the venue. I understand the importance of providing seating, but these don't match. Whoever approved these sofas, killed the vibe and is trying to eliminate a natural historic element of Cleveland. It's a disgrace to all architects and historians. But with great history, comes great responsibility, and if you review my photos, you'll note each photo is blurry, probably due to the theater ghosts. (Except the photo "Stinky Wine.") personally, I felt a positive theatre ghost presence, but wanted to set the scene. In the lobby, you'll also find various awards, which I'm not sure what they all are, or if they're real, but it's cool. Additionally, there was a family room, located near the Facenmeyer Lobby, but I'll be darned if I could find an entrance. But to be fair, I didn't want to see Uncle Joe or Aunt Millie so I didn't bother to look around too much. I also like to run in the other direction when children are near. Accessibility wise, Playhouse and CPH are great, with a plethora of elevators, ramps, rails, and seats, making the trek a little easier for folks. I didn't bring my tape measure to ensure all the ramps were 10' and 2' but the incline didn't seem as nuts as other ramps in town. Bathrooms are also plentiful, with vanities and stalls to ensure large intermission crowds. When I visited, it was Christmas season, thus everything was adorned with holly and most people were jolly. Redcoats are available to guide guests to their viewing throwns and ensure etiquette in the theatre. They were very kind and passionate for theater. Overall, great night out, but watch out for women obsessed with wine, theatre ghosts and ugly sofas.

Kudos first to the Science Center staff, from Xander at the ticket desk to the folks working exhibits, the security guards, and finally the corporate staffer who opened the door after hours to help me find an object I'd forgotten, this is a group of friendly, competent, kind people who embody customer service. What a treat! The movie itself was enlightening and entertaining and the interactive exhibit further enhanced the experience. Returning to the Science Center will be a pleasure, made even more affordable thanks to the annual membership I decided to purchase. I look forward to going with friends and will encourage them to bring students, nephews, nieces, and grandchildren for a fun (truly fun) time.

The space was until used amazingly and there was so much more room to walk around. I was happy to see the facility was well taken care of and clean, and equipped with hand sanitizers throughout the building. The bathrooms were well maintained and the staff for both the convention and convention center were a lot nicer than the other cons I've been to. The food court and marketplaces were open though some stalls were going to open tomorrow and Sunday instead of today. I loved the dumpling stand and recommend the vegetable dumplings. The food was pricey but that's to be expected for conventions and other events like this. I didn't get to any panels this evening because there was SO MUCH to look at but tonight hosted a lot of really interesting cosplay panels such as foam crafting and materials. I also saw some panels that included tabletop gaming which is awesome! Note: some panels require an additional ticket not included with the wristbands. Now on to the artist alley! Oh. My. God. There were so many new and interesting artists that I know weren't there years ago. There was a delicious fudge shop and cashew stall and some really amazing comic stalls. The artists were fabulous and I made some new friends. I would like to recognize Literary Alterations for some of the coolest fandom jewelry and Macbath for their Shakespeare inspired soaps. I think the most disappointing aspect of this convention was the guest lineup. I'm not much of an Outlander fan and I've met the Princess Bride lineup at a previous convention. Many of the other attendees and booth owners also were disappointed by the lineup. In the past we've had Billie Piper, David Tennant, Jason Mamoa, and William Shatner just to name a few. No hate on the guests themselves this year but I just didn't see the big names that other cities are receiving. I feel like Cleveland Wizard World got cheated this year. Overall I am so thankful to Yelp for giving me the opportunity to go this year. I actually hope to be able to attend more Wizard World conventions because I was so pleased with how it was run. We…read moregot there pretty early and there wasn't much of a crowd although some people were hanging around the Browns tent for meet and greets with some of the players. I think these sessions were $50 apiece, you couldn't just walk in and get an autograph. Bands took the stage later on -- Uncle Kracker was the big draw but that wasn't until Sunday . I like the idea of this festival, but overall there are some kinks to work out. On the food side, they had a solid offering of BBQ vendors - Smoke Ring, Old Carolina, The Proper Pig, Over the Moon. I was very excited about the Smoked Mac & Cheese from Smoke Ring but disappointed in the portion size. It was basically a large handful's worth of food for $5. The bacon on a stick from the Proper Pig was definitely the highlight - also $5, but it was the thickest, juiciest slice of bacon I've ever had the pleasure of devouring. That is one food truck I would definitely chase down if I happen to spot them on the road. The main problem, then, was the booze. Drink tickets were 5 for $5. I believe all the beers were 5 tickets apiece, but there was a serious lack of local beers. When we were there they had a few different brews from Goose Island and Shock Top on tap. Considering Willoughby Brewing was literally right next door it seemed like they could have made more of an effort to get Cleveland beers here - it's not like we've got a beer shortage in this city. "Whiskey Row" was the center of the confusion, however. Each vendor had a menu displaying what kinds of liquor they were offering and they number of tickets each costs. They ranged from 5 to 11 tickets (there might have been a 12 ticket whiskey, I can't quite remember) and you basically got a shot's worth. Or maybe a little more. Every tent had different sized serving cups, so we really had no idea what we were supposed to be getting. Now, why would someone who isn't familiar with a whiskey (or any whiskies, which I think was probably the case with a lot of guests) want to pay $11 for a glass of something they aren't sure if they like? I know entrance was free, but how much money did they think people were going to drop on whiskey? The point of going to food/drink festivals is being able to sample a bunch of stuff you wouldn't normally be exposed to, or want to pay full price for in a restaurant/bar. That was not the case here. At a few of the tents, we asked to pay less for a smaller amount - like 2 or 3 tickets for a smaller taste. A lot of the volunteers weren't really sure what the policy was, so we got a way with a few, and then others refused. So that needs to be clarified, and hopefully next year they'll do sample pours. Obviously a pour of 10-year aged whiskey is worth more than a pour of Bacardi (um, why bother, btw?) but it just made deciding on what to a drink a hassle when every single thing was priced differently. If people want full-size pours, fine, but just make everything the same number of tickets so people don't have to mill around trying to figure out what's what. Also, most of the whiskey offered was bourbon, which is cool because yay America - but the even among the bourbon selections there were only a handful I hadn't seen before. People can walk into any bar and try Jim Beam if they wanted to. It would've been nice to see a few more small-batch brands and international whiskies. But the pig was fabulous!
