Public storage is doing fraudulent business practices. I reserved and paid for a unit that stated…read morethe last one available. I paid a total of 197. Including a 21.34 fee for a lock. The next day, I called and asked about the 1$ move in special. I was told, " I don't do that," yet on this site, they are advertising it. I canceled my pending reservation via online with a live agent using the chat feature. I was told I would get a refund in 5-7 days back to my card. The charge was still pending at that time, and the next day, I saw that I was refunded 21.34 only. (For lock) I called customer service and was once again told I would receive a refund via CC 5-7 days. Today, I called AGAIN, and after a 16 min wait, I got a customer service agent that stated I would receive a refund VIA CHECK IN 6-8 WEEKS. I have disputed with my CC company and am in the process of filing a complaint with Attorney General of SC and the FCC for fraudulent advertising. I strongly advise anyone not to patronize this company. There unwillingness to assist consumers speaks volumes as to the integrity of this company in Beaufort SC!

I rented my current Public Storage10x20' unit on March 27, 2023 for 181.00. In July 2023 was…read morenotified that my rate would be increasing to 248.00 in July. This 37% increase seemed high to me. I reached out to public storage and was granted a 3-month extension of my 181.00 rate. The rate then increased to 248.00. Then yesterday I received another rate increase notification from 248.00 to 302.00, a 22% increase over my current rate. I then requested an extension of my current 248.00 rate and was denied by our local manager. I then called the customer service line and was denied again. I am sure that I will receive Public Storage's canned response of this being a fair and reasonable rate in our area. I personally feel this is price gouging. They know that I cannot afford to move the 10x20' unit to another location and I need the space I rented. I have spoken to other people renting from different locations around the nation. Though rate increases are common for this industry a 67% increase over my original 181.00 over 15 months is unheard of among those I have spoken with. I have enjoyed working with the Public Storage local employees. However, I look forward to removing our items from Public Storage and hope to never use them again. I understand why they do not warn of these increases on the front end. If they did, I would not be using them currently. Buyer be warned.

Warning! Anyone who has furniture stored near unit #309 in the temperature controlled building…read moreshould be aware of termite infestation. I stored my possessions with ABC for 7 years expecting they would be protected from termites and pests. When I recently emptied the unit I discovered several pieces of wooden furniture were actively infested by termites. The tops and insides of the furniture were destroyed. It was evident the infestation had been going on for some time to result in the amount of damage. Immediately I left the unit to find the manager, Pat. She returned to the unit with me to see the damage. She was astounded, as we all were. She assured then me she would contact the management at once. My son and a mover took the infested pieces of furniture out of my unit and placed them in the hallway in front of other storage units. We assumed the manager would call the termite company for the items to be removed immediately and for the area to be treated for pest infestation to protect other units. When we left our empty storage unit three days later, the furniture was still in the same place we left it. I have photos and video of the damage and live infestation.
