He has been a blessing. He didn't take lightly to just jumping on meds, but we had an huge file from school of reports and incidents, we had seen and was seeing a psychologist and OT. We had already tried everything but meds. He was patient in helping not only find the right medication for my daughter but taking the time to look into the costs of the medication, our insurance sucks. He always asks if i'm ok with our course of treatment, exactly what I needed. He returned an 8pm call after leaving an urgent message, when we had a bad reaction to one of her meds. And he doesn't push meds, we are in the process of being able to wean her off some of the meds. He's helpful and he listens to your concerns. He makes you, as the parent, feel less crazy. I recently suffered through a series of traumatic life events, and so I attempted to reach out to Dr. Joel Shuy in my time of need. I wanted to to see if it would be possible to continue having sessions with Dr. Shuy, via telehealth appointments, while I'm living in the California area. Dr. Shuy was just as kind, caring, and understanding as he always has been. He permitted me to have sessions with him via long distance, and we've already met for several long distances sessions, via the phone, since I recently reached out to him. Dr. Shuy is truly one of the most gifted and knowledgeable Psychologists that I've ever had the pleasure of being a patient of. Dr. Shuy has helped me so very much in life throughout the years, and now again, he has helped me, substantially so, just in the few sessions that we've recently had.
