I hadn't had a good cleaning in two years & was frankly terrified. Dr. Conte is a GREAT dentist for someone like me who's scared of the dentist. He's friendly & immediately puts you at ease by chatting with you about your life, your job, the weather, whatever. Upon my first visit, he apologized profusely for running behind; he repeated over & over that the office tries hard never to do that, & I believed him. Usually doctors don't give a damn about wasting patients' time! He also asked me why I hadn't been to a dentist for so long, & when I confessed my fear, he talked me through WHY I'm afraid - it was a bit of a mini therapy session! - & reassured me that I could talk to him at any point if fear set in, & we'd work through it. It's not just him, either. His staff is great, too! They call me by my preferred name instead of my given name (most doctors' offices don't have the patience for that or any way to note it in their systems), which set a great tone for me. When I decided to have a tooth extracted in the upper back area of my mouth; they presented me with a multi step treatment plan (many thousands of dollars) at which point I communicated that I had no intent to get implants etc because the gap would not be visible. Come surgery day, my surgeon went ahead and did a bone graft anyway. At the end of my follow up appointment a couple weeks later, the office manager pulled me aside and demanded over $800 additional for the bone graft. I communicated that I did not agree to that, had communicated my intentions earlier, and had only scheduled the appointment for the extraction. She quickly offered me a discount on the next step of the process (which hints to me that she knew they over reached) and I instead stated I should be discounted for the bone graft that I didn't ask for. She didn't budge, so I just paid up and found a new dentist immediately. Going to the dentist is stressful enough, the office shouldn't cause their patients undue financial strain on top of it. I was up front that I wanted extraction only and they performed extra work anyway. You can shake me down for the $800 since it's advisable to get a bone graft anyway, but it should be at a time of my choosing, not yours. If SDA reads this - a little communication and not making assumptions goes a long way!

I had considered going to a dental office nearby named something like "The Apprehensive Patient," because that was the perfect word to describe how I felt prior to my first exam. This office is located in small shopping plaza, and the interior isn't anything to scream about, however my overall experience there so far has been great! My first visit was to get an exam and cleaning, after years of not seeing a dentist I thought I would have numerous cavities and other problems. However, I only had one small cavity, so a follow-up appointment to get a filling was in order. The actual cleaning was great, the nice dental assistant did a great job explaining what she was doing and talked pleasantly with me throughout. Everything was great, then the nice doctor,Noelle Signoriello, came into to give me my actual exam. She was extremely pleasant and helpful. During my subsequent visit to get a filling, I was not as apphrensive, partly because I enoyed my first visit to this office, and partly because the last time I had to see the dentist, I was a young nervous teenager, but now I've grown out of that! I again had Dr. Signoriello, a nice young dentist who is probably in her mid to late 20's. Some people may take her youth as a bad thing, but I thought she was great and her presumed recent training likely means she was educated on all the latest and greatest dental techniques, procedures, and technologies that more seasoned doctors may have not been educated on. But then again what the heck do I know about dentists' training patterns. Dr. Signoriello was nice and since I had a minor cavity offered me the choice of Novacaine or no Novacaine for my filling procedure. I chose no Novacaine with the caveat that if I was in pain I would let her know, and we would then shoot me up with the numbing agent. However, I felt no pain and thus never needed Novacaine which I would associate with Dr. Signoriello's skill. Aside from her skill, my wife who is also a patient at this office, told Dr. Signoriello that she has the best "bedside manner of any dentist she's ever been to." I totally agree with my wife, she not only had skills with a drill, but also made me feel at ease throughout the whole process. I see that this is the first review, but this five stars is well deserved! I went there feeling apprehensive about going to the dentist, but the next time I may actually look forward to going there!

She wanted me to come in for a 15 min appointment when I live 3000 miles away and was not compassionate, kind, or understanding or the situation. Today My father called me and told me the Dr Shecklian called him and said I was rude which is an exaggerated tale, and I really wish I had the call recorded. This is not normal behavior for a grown women working in a dentist office. I talk to people all day long from around the world and rarly have any problems with anyone. Anyone who knows me, Knows I'm beyond reasonable and never rude or judgmental to anyone but the way this women dealt with me was not polite and I would never hire someone who can't communicate with customers. I run over ten companies and rarely have problems with anyone and when I do I immediately resolve them though empathy and a loving heart. However, there are no facilities in my area (jersey city) that provide sedation dentistry while also accepting my insurance. I have been dealing with ongoing dental issues for over three years and have made continuous efforts to find a provider who can accommodate both my medical needs and insurance. Many offices do not accept my plan, others have closed due to personal problems in their, and some such as Rutgers University, have waiting lists of five years or more . Your office is one of the only providers available to me that accepts my insurance and allows transportation through my plan. Being told that you are not comfortable performing a procedure that my insurance covers has added unnecessary stress and hardship to an already difficult situation. your response Clearbrook Advanced Dental Care (Owner) We genuinely empathize with the physical and emotional trauma you've endured. Unfortunately, I have not been able to secure care elsewhere due to limited access--many offices do not accept my insurance, one have closed, and Rutgers University has extremely long waitlists. At this time, your office is the only option available to me that accepts my insurance and works with my transportation coverage. Since my last visit, my condition has worsened. I am now experiencing food getting trapped in my mouth, and it feels like there may be a hole forming near one of my teeth. This is causing increased discomfort, stress, and anxiety.
