The restaurant is underneath the main shop, but it feels cosy rather than basement-y, with white walls and plush blue velvet curtains. We had some french people stay with us once, and they really wanted to try proper fish and chips, so we brought them here. They weren't disappointed - who could be with light, crispy battered haddock and fluffy golden chips on offer, with proper mushy peas and gravy that tastes like it's been made for a roast dinner? They were quick behind the counter, though. They had a lot of options with fish cake, pies, and all the different sides and sauces, but I got a standard fish & chips. The fish was huge, flakey, delicious. It came as a set meal with the chips an even with mushy peas so you don't have to order separately. I also got my favorite chips with curry sauce, which was nice and the sauce came on the side and kept really hot and nice over my trip home. Overall, quite pleased. If you're in the West Bridgford area and looking for some good takeaway fish & chips, head over to George's. I may even go again during my stay here, especially since they also put a buy-one-get-one-free coupon in your bag :)
