However, my first surprise was when the crew showed up and no one spoke English. The crew only spoke Portuguese except for one person who spoke a little Spanish. We were able to get Pedro to stop by and help to make sure the crew understood what was to be done. However, after they had the flooring installed, we immediately had problems with the quality of the installation. We contacted Pedro and the company agreed that the flooring was improperly installed and took up the entire flooring and had it reinstalled by another team. I had purchased leveling material for the first team and told them to put as much down as necessary to to ensure that the floor was level. I was not happy with the leveling done by the first team so I purchased 20 more bags of leveling material and again told the second team to use as much as necessary to ensure that the floor was level. The team did put some more material down however, as you can see in the pictures, the mixture was too watery and the next morning when we returned there was areas where the leveling material was still wet, even after setting undisturbed in the house for approximately 18 hours. During this time unbeknownst to us, it had worked its way through some cracks into the unit below us. After the flooring was completely installed, we came back to inspect it and noticed several areas where the planks did not seem to be joining properly, and we noticed some flexing in the planks, indicating that there was space between the floor and the concrete underneath. I checked to see how many bags of leveling material they had used and determined that they had only used another 10 bags of leveling material. I ended up returning 15 of the 20 bags I ordered to the store. I made a complaint to Harold, the owner, and he at first refused to do anything and he refused to reimburse me for any of the cost for the damage to the condo below me where the leveling material had leaked through the roof. I believe because it's sat on the concrete for too long, because of the improper water to material ratio, and had not only damaged the ceiling, but also the carpeting. After repeated attempts to contact Harold, he finally agreed to send an employee out to my home to inspect the flooring. The employee told us while he was inspecting the tile that he agreed that some of the planks did not appear to be installed properly, and that there were voids between the tile and the flooring in some areas that was allowing the tiles to flex and separate. After not hearing from Harold following the inspection, I called him, and after several attempts, he finally answered and stated that the employee had told him that the tile was properly installed, and that the issue was a material defect. Again, this was the opposite of what the employee had told us while he was at our home. Harold refused to do any repairs or provide any reimbursement for the repair work to the unit below. This complaint process started in December 2023 and finally ended in January 2025 where Harold declined to respond any further. I feel I did everything I could and was as patient as possible and worked as diligently as possible to resolve this issue between myself and HLD Tileworks however the owner was not willing to do anything. I would not recommend using this company for anything. Although Pedro was very competent and helpful, it came down to Harold, the owner and his lack of cooperation to resolve the issues, and the company sending personnel who are unfamiliar with the proper installation process and then not being willing to reimbursed any of the damage expenses to the unit below or to fix the tiles that we found separating almost immediately after the installation, and Harold unwillingness to even answer the phone when we called him.

All brand new base boards were damaged, grout work was sloppy, stained doors, hole in wall. Very disappointing when we walked into the house to see this and now we have to fix their mess and deal with the stress they have given us. They did NOT clean up their mess and left layers of dust all over the house. A cleaning company had to hired to clean after. Their work is very sloppy and careless. BEWARE.
