Biggest plus is how fast everything is…read more Easy on and off from freeway, very manageable size, and short trip from downtown Burbank with lots of shopping, fast food, grocery, and entertainment. Airport does look somewhat dated but not that bad. I would prefer flying to BUR versus LAX as less crazy experience overall. The dropoff & pickup area at BUR is relatively small but it seemed to move fine. The path into and around the airport for cars is a little odd and missed a turn once so went back around.

I love how they have consolidated areas for the different airlines, and food and shopping are all available in each area. At the same time, it was fun to get some steps in and explore more sections of the airport, and the shopping and food offered in each area. Even though there are so many travelers going through this airport, each time I travel through LAX I have found the TSA and the boarding areas to be easy to navigate. I love the new rental car area and the fact that they have so many shuttles that transport flyers between the airport and the car rental building.

I once preemptively took off my shoes because I'd always been required to prior, and this TSA staff very smugly? rudely? asked me if anyone had asked me to take them off and to put them back on since no one told me too. Another time my shoes in the scanner bin actually got pushed off and my shoes fell underneath the scanner onto the floor...And I tried to get an employee to grab them for me...But they like...aggressively avoid eye contact. It took me like 10 minutes to flag someone down to help me. Also, one time as my husband and I were making out way to one of the gates there was dog poop smeared on the ground. This airport kinda really sucks lol. I think they have an okay selection of stores/restaurants, but the prices are jacked, but in an egregious way. Having been to other international airports at other countries, I think we can do better...It would be nice if this place got even a general aesthetic upgrade.

With my FIL having a plane, we have now been to several small airports for one reason or the other…read more This time, it was to pick up and drop off the in-laws while we were spending some time together to visit with some of Kevin's other family. We timed our departure via car from our house with their departure from the Aurora, Oregon airport and made it within 20 minutes of each other (they beat us). We ended up picking them up at the flight school instead of closer to the plane because unlike some other airports no one directed them where to go. The folks at the flight school were very nice and let them stay in the airconditioned waiting area until we got there and then we drove them around to the actual small airport check-in area (which was closer to where the plane was parked and in the 100 degree heat would have been easier/better for my MIL to walk and wait in). Being the protective person I am, this irritated me a bit, but they are used to the lack of communication at these little airports. This airport is in a downtrodden area and is not as maintained as some of the municipal airports we have visited. Bathrooms are outside, but the plane was fine and the price of parking ($5 per day) for the plane couldn't be beat. Since I am no pilot, all I can go by is my FIL's experience and he has had a lot worse. I was glad Kevin was there so he could help pull the plane over to the gas pump and look forward to visiting another small airport again sometime in the future.

I prefer this airport but it will come down to the price and how much more it is. They don't fly out too late due to the houses around. SYOY!

I was staying in…read moreNewport Beach for a few days and it was only natural to try and find a flight that landed here. The location of SNA is ideal if you're staying in the OC - the only other options in the area are SAN and LAX which are both over an hour drive away in either direction. The airport isn't large, but large enough to have several routes passing through it. The aesthetics are fine - not the most modern airport I've been to, and they seem to have a good amount of shops and eateries relative to their size. The rental car counters are super close to the terminal - I can't remember the last time I walked to one from baggage claim. My only real issue with SNA is that because of its size, you will likely be limited in routes. Flying from JFK to SNA was fine, but coming home my only options were connecting flights or a red eye. Neither were ideal, so I planned my itinerary accordingly to fly out of another airport. Overall, SNA is good for what it is, and a great option if you're visiting the Orange County area.

Historic significance lays in the fact that famous DC-3 & military aircraft was produced by Douglas Aircraft Co in Santa Monica at the airport before it had moved to Long Beach. Famous tenants like Harrison Ford, Tom Cruise & Arnold Schwarzenegger, along with others, average daily 250 takeoffs & landings, that's a lot of noise! Neighbors in Santa Monica didn't want harmful exhaust, emissions, fueling, lead & carbon, pollution, and noise! At the same time, its use during WWII for military purposes had federal agreements for FAA to allow operations. So various aviation interests contended with the City of Santa Monica over its ownership. They reached the agreement after endless litigation to return the control of the airport land to the city. We've both been able to go behind the scenes at the Ventura County Fire Department's hangar in years past during the Firefighters Quest Rally in the spring. I utilized this airport because I had a México cruise trip scheduled with Carnival Cruise Lines. Upon arrival, this airport felt unique compared to most airports. Instead of the traditional method of exiting the plane by walking on a jet bridge, passengers had to walk down portable stairs onto the tarmac (paved surface on the airport runway). Then, there was a designated walkway to get inside the airport to pick up luggage from the baggage claim area/carousel. I absolutely adored the gorgeous, open-air conceptual design of the airport. I was met with the fresh Southern California breeze, a plethora of palm trees, and beautiful sunshine from the sky. I also appreciated that this airport was considerably less crowded with individuals. The ease of navigation within the smaller building made a difference in getting in and out. All in all, the entire environment was picturesque, calm, and relaxing. There were a couple of eateries and a convenience store available for the general public. Since I was in the South Concourse, these options included Boathouse on the Bay, Sheldrake Coffee Roasting & Sweet Jill's Bakery, and Travel@Ease Gifts and News. I finally came back to the Long Beach Airport on Tuesday, 05/19/26, around 10:30 AM to travel home. The line with Southwest Airlines was a tad long to drop off luggage. However, the TSA line was very swift at getting people through. I will be flying to and from this airport moving forward anytime I need to travel to the Southern California region.

Basically you can't just hang out at the curb like the old days, you wait off site and then get a call when to pick your passenger up. Wow, this airport is bigger than I thought. I did park and go inside just to check it out and I guess it's a little more polite to meet a big boss at the gate then to just drive up to the curb like some taxi cab. I think this is about the size of the Oakland Airport (OAK), there different gat areas for the airlines and there's different food options as well. Everything from burgers to seafood even. Prices are airport prices that's for sure. I met up easy, since I knew what he looked like, I didn't have to hold up one of those stupid signs with a name on it! He was grateful for me meeting him and said he's gonna take me out to lunch. Sounds good to me. This is a pretty decent airport, everything is super busy down here in SoCal.

They do not have the best selection of shops; although, it has gotten better over the years- still no competition over Oakland International Airport nor SFO, but it is all lit up all night and turnt up. I like that. I always take flights at the very last minute possible and I hate planning if someone else does the planning so, I'll sabotage you if you try to make me be somewhere at a certain time. I always end up taking the last possible flight. Even if my whole family or friends are on the same flight, but different than me. I've been known to switch airlines at the airport. So, depending on how long until my flight, I shop, so I prefer a long wait time. I am not sabotagable (I am able to make up words, yes) because I mastered the art of not giving a PHUCK when I was in my crib. When you land in Minnesota or Atlanta or anywhere late, it's dark and no one is around. The lights are off even if people continue to fly in and out. That sucks because it ruins the fun mood and when the fun times end, so does my being present.
