Everything was and had been working fine at that point. A couple months later, the unit stopped cooling. We called TQ back out and all of a sudden the coolant was 100% empty. We were told that there were "king valves" broken and a leak somewhere else, but their tech could not find it. We were given quotes up to over $13,000.00, pressing for a whole system replacement. They offered a repair conditional upon "we might still find something else." No further attempt to try to find the leak they insisted we had. Other opinions found o-rings missing on the outdoor unit, all of the seals/gaskets on it loose, and a large amount of debris that suggested a very large and fast coolant spray. One of them also said that Top Quality's guy did not even check the coil in the attic because some sort of original seal was still on the cover/door. No one could find any leak. One of the alternate opinion companies perfomed an overnight test where he put something in the unit to see if it would leak out. It held 100%. He filled the unit with coolant, fixed the valves and seals, and it has been working just fine again since at a TINY fraction of the cost Top Quality wanted. Now these are not my words but those of the other opinions. That the tech from Top Quality didn't know what he was doing, to run away as fast as possible, and that it even reminded them of situations they had heard of where techs had drained a system of its coolant to re-sell it. It does seem strange that a simple filter change and vent adjustment turned into an empty unit within a couple of months (or sooner, as we had not been using it much yet because it wasn't hot enough, so we wouldn't have known until later), with no leak able to be found by anyone, and a unit working just fine now for several months with just a coolant refill.

First time calling, I had a discussion with a tech. He seemed very knowledgeable. I explained to him what I was wanting in a system and told him I had already received one quote. He asked if the quote was less that 15K to which I said yes. To that he said "go with that guy, if he can get you a system for that price". I took that advice, only to find out later that the guy was not licensed. So back to the drawing board we went. I called JF Maxwell a second time and spoke to Jim. I was told to email him my set of plans and that he would schedule some time to go look at the house and get back to me. Two weeks go by and I hear nothing. I call back a third time and get Jim again. I told him that I had spoken to him a couple of weeks prior and was waiting on a quote from him. He had no recollection, so he took my info again and said he'd put it in the system and get someone out to take a look and that he would have a quote for me a couple of days after the visit. A few days later I see their truck visit the site via my security camera. Then I wait, I hear nothing. Called back a fourth time and spoke to a receptionist. I explained to her that I needed to make a decision and was waiting on a quote from them. I was told she would pass on the message and that they'd have the quote back to me by the end of the day. I hear nothing. Again, called back a few days later and got a receptionist. I voiced my disappointment and tell her at this point I don't even need a quote. She promises me to get someone to get back to me asap. Next thing I know, I get another visit scheduled at my site. I don't even care at this point. I do see their truck arrive on my camera, but my builder was at the property and sent them away. I get a feeling these guys are either very disorganized or just way to busy to be able to handle new business, or both. Or perhaps they only like to work on new builds that satisfy a higher price point. Whatever the case may be, I find them to be very unprofessional. I always try to get three quotes. If you are not able to take on new business or are not interested, just tell me. I would've called someone else. Dealing with JFMaxwell was a total waste of time. This would've been close to a $20K sale for them, but they don't seem to care. I hope the owner reads this review. There is something wrong going on at this business that he really needs to fix.
