Bottom line: I do not recommend Dad's Guns and Golf Carts if you need work performed on any of your…read moreweapons and/or accessories. The gunsmith is unprofessional, rude, careless, and unapologetic. Today I entered Dad's Guns and Golf Carts to have a new, $600+ scope mounted onto my rifle. The scope had just been taken out of the box and the rifle, that had been passed down through several generations, was in pristine condition.
My rifle now has several scratches on the barrel, stock, and receiver faceplate. Additionally, the scope has seven scratches, three of which went completely through the coating. I was visibly upset with the resultant product and the gunsmith acted clueless about how the scratches got there, then attempted to "fix" it by coloring on the scope with a Sharpie.
Throughout the conversation with the gunsmith, the owner stood 20 ft away watching, but never said a word. Do not waste your time and money, or risk damaging family heirlooms, on Dad's Guns and Golf Carts. The following are comments made by the gunsmith throughout my experience:
When I opened my gun case to show him my rifle he said, "what's the problem with this scope? Why are we changing it? Which way are the rings supposed to face?" - It doesn't matter why I want the scope changed and he should know which way the rings are supposed to face...
When my rifle was ready for pick-up, I received the following voicemail: "Hey, this is the gunsmith from Dad's Guns and Golf Carts, your piece is ready, bye."
When I arrived back at the store, the gunsmith was working behind the counter with his back to the store. I announced that I was there to pick up the rifle that just had the scope mounted. "Far right" was yelled at me. I looked around the store to see if my gun was sitting out and he again yelled "far right" and then pointed across the store at the end of the counter.
After confronting him about the scratches and pulling away from the Sharpie, he walked away from me stating "If you're not happy, then I'm not going to charge you, go on." Damn right I'm not happy; I'm not paying for piss-poor service.
(If I had the option of choosing zero stars, I would have.)
