The session happens in an open area, but not to worry...it's not a gym. Dani Mathers wasn't lurking in the shadows ready to Insta-shame my haggard ass. I got used to the lack of privacy. They have full length mirrors so you can watch your form but instead I focused on the varicose vein bulging behind my left knee that I didn't know I had. After my initial anxiety abated, I came to enjoy the PG barber shop vibe going on which made each session fly by. From the physical therapist to the techs, everyone was encouraging and positive. After two months of therapy, I have abs of steel and glutes of granite. You won't be seeing a gratuitous gym selfie, though, as they are still buried under an inch of flabbery blubber.

I recently went through two rounds of appointments at Athletico PT's Rita Ranch location to address…read moremy pelvic floor weakness. They were recommended to me by my urogynecologist from Northwest Obgyn. My experience was excellent working with Paul and Emma thru exercises aimed specifically at strengthening my pelvic floor muscles and also leg strengthening, as some of the leg muscles are connected closely to the pelvic floor muscles. They also worked with me on balance exercises which was a separate issue that I was dealing with it. Each session ran smoothly, always starting on time, and finishing with a printed set of exercises to do at home. They also can supply the exercises thru the Athletico app if you prefer. They stressed that being diligent with the homework is essential to the program being beneficial for me. They also clearly stressed that the exercises needed to be an ongoing part of my life to keep the pelvic floor muscles from not reverting to weakness. We talked a lot about how to incorporate the exercises into my daily routine, not just being a special isolated exercise practice. For it all to work, the exercises needed to be a new part of my life. From time to time I received an online evaluation form that was used to track and assess my progress. We worked together to assess whether or not to go into a second series of appointments, which we did decide to do. My overall experience with Athletico PT at Rita Ranch was excellent. The location was convenient to me coming from Tubac to the south. The place and the equipment was super clean and the staff friendly and attentive. Even on days when it as super busy, the equipment was well assigned and, altho lots of clients at work, all ran smoothly. Pelvic floor issues are very widespread in older women. I was happy to find that my doctor directed me to PT rather than just relying on medication and surgical procedures for a solution. Many thanks to Paul and Emma for a job well done. I was happy with my progress with them and now it's up to me to keep the ball rolling in the right direction. I will most likely ago back at some point to assess my status and review the exercises that I am doing, which they suggested would be good to do at a later point in time.

Well this is chain physical therapy, probably everything is turning into a chain these days. As far…read moreas physical therapy goes I suppose they deserve close to five stars as far as pelvic floor therapy goes a zero, so I guess I will average this to a three. The physical therapy I received there was good for parts of me, unfortunately, I desperately needed pelvic floor therapy! At my first visit I was given a exam and told that my Kegel was in some way subpar, then that was it, there was no guidance, no direction, no hey try again, no can you feel this muscle, do you feel this? Try this.. nothing! I was just sent out to the floor for exercise and to continue to attempt that inadequate Kegel for nine visits at the end of which I was never even evaluated again to see if I had made any progress. (my doctor office seemed pretty surprised by this as well) So unfortunately that neglect severely delayed my progress, after nine weeks and many hundreds of dollars I was on my own struggling to work out the main reason that I was referred there. Also a bummer when I pointed out other pain, they seemed unwilling to listen to that since I didn't have a referral specifically for that pain. The worst thing about a chain is their need to be liked, they send numerous "check ins" checking your progress but also what you think of them, don't rate them high enough and they will offer to go over it with you (super creepy) don't fill it out and they'll make you stand there awkwardly with a tablet during the time you're supposed to be exercising to fill it out. Pros and cons, a chain means an app and easy payment. If you just need physical therapy give them a try, if you need pelvic floor therapy save your money and run for the hills, they are not pelvic floor therapist. Find a podcast, go to YouTube, find ways to help yourself. I'm yet to figure out if pelvic floor therapists even exist in this medical desert. If they do, they have to figure out a better way to let themselves be known. So far I have not encountered any billing issues. I did notice that they charge my insurance a ridiculous amount of money draining my benefits. I was charged a $40 co-pay and haven't received any unexpected bills, if any arrive I'll be back for an edit.

What could improve?? A few things!! For one...a call back…read more I left two messages yesterday, Thursday and two today, Friday. No one called me back.. I've been working two weeks to get my prescription refilled. This coming Monday will make 3 weeks. When I called two Mondays ago. The staff told me that they didn't do in-house compounding anymore because of insurance. I gave them a name of a compounding pharmacy that I've used in the past. This took a couple days. When the staff called my prescription in, it was a different form of pill then when it was compounded in the office. was getting the dissolve in your mouth thyroid pill. The office called in a capsule. I wanted to stay with what I had been on for the last two months. When the pharmacy finally got the OK from the doctor to do the dissolve in your mouth pill, the pharmacy told me two days ago, it would be the end of next week before I got my medicine. I ran out of medicine two days ago. I decided to check with a local compounding company I've used in the past. I called them Thursday of this week. They told me if the prescription came in yesterday. They could have my medicine to me by Tuesday. Problem is the office called in a prescription from my old doctor, not my present doctor. This Dr has never prescribed this dosage for me. So I've made a bunch of calls and no one has called me back and they haven't called the right dosage into the pharmacy. So, I don't know when I'm going to get my medicine. Pretty sad.

Turns out it's the exam room for kids and it's dogie themed. Sadly I'm over age for the room. Boo. The girl checking me in was very sweet.
