I fell a couple of blocks from home, had to skate home, then my husband drove us here. Luckily we already knew about this place. I got in to Premier Urgent care right away, got an X-Ray right away, was taken over to the other side of the building to CCSMO right away, saw Orthopedic Surgeon Dr. Robert Coats right away, he did more X-Rays right away, reset my wrist, scanned the wrist again, determined it did not need surgery, and put the cast on, did more scans to make sure the cast was perfect. I fell just before 2pm on Monday and was treated and home with my cast just before 4pm. Less than 2 hours for repairing a broken bone! I was incredibly impressed. As if that wasn't enough, everyone was so kind and helpful. All of the doctors, nurses, X-Ray technician, the other staff, really everyone is wonderful. I have had multiple checkups with Dr.Coats, all have gone well. I am in Occupational Therapy with Brian 2-3 a week. Everyone in the Physical Therapy part is so friendly and helpful. You can tell they all care about helping their patients. I am blown away by how much Brian knows! He's been doing this for ~20 years!

Take this as a WARNING. DO NOT GO to this office for service unless you have hours to waste…read morewaiting.  My appointment was scheduled weeks in advance. Got to the office and was told that the doctor was running an hour behind.  I didn't actual see the doctor for 4 1/2 hours later. Multiple people in the office had been waiting a similar length.  I know because people were complaining about the wait.  The doctor himself was not the issue just the rest of the office. I was told the reason for the time delay was that multiple doctors were sharing two room. I don't know how that was an acceptable excuse given that there was not a surprise number of doctors and rooms at the location. The location is also a bit run down as well. I'm posting this so people know before committing to the office.  Its easier to never go to the office versus switching.  I ended up accepting the lost and just spent more money switching doctors. I know everyone can't afford to do that.

They have proven to me their deep knowledge of the bodies muscles, tendons and connective tissue and how they are supposed to work. I observed their ability to evaluate me, create a program and schedule. In addition, they provided close one on one coaching and direction, gently pushing to reach goals, and encouragement. There is no anxiety and they are just pleasant people to know and talk to, very communicative. Best of all, I can tell they love what they do and are people persons. Pretty good place to go. A little hidden gem amongst so many choices out there.

He returned my calls when I had overbearing pain, sometimes as late as 9:30 pm on a Friday night! He cares. I am a year out from surgery. He was many hours late to the appointment, and we he finally arrived, offered no apologies but blamed me for the fact that I had been added onto his schedule. Furthermore, he brought a whole team in the room and didn't bother to introduce anyone. He was dismissive and rude when I inquired about my persistent ankle pain (which had continued for month after a basic sprain). Dr. Toolan kept repeating, "I can't tell you what it is, I can only tell you what it's not," and his answer to every question I asked was, "Well, the ankle is structurally fine." When I asked what I should do if the pain continued and what kind of follow-up I should have, he responded, "Oh, I can't tell you that... all I can say is that it's structurally sound." From the moment Dr. Toolan entered the exam room, it was clear that his only goal was to get out as quickly as possible. Months later I still remain perplexed by how someone of his pedigree a) got there and b) can be so easy to dismiss a challenging case in the field that he is supposedly an expert in. Why go through the amount of training he went through to then have no amount of basic curiosity to figure out what might be going on with your patient? As I said, perhaps the single most disappointing interaction I have had with a medical professional. Also the reason that I will no longer receive my care at the University of Chicago.

My neurologist referred me specifically to Imelda and I have been grateful ever since. Shortly after I started PT at PhysioPartners, I began to experience some pain relief. I was given a comprehensive home routine that I followed. I did not ever think I would be relieved of the neck pain and I am glad that I do not have it often. I would not be honest if I said I was completely pain free. I sometimes get flare ups and the vast majority of the time the home exercises help relieve the pain. Imelda is a McKenzie Method of Mechanical Diagnosis and Therapy clinician. I am grateful for her proficiency in this method because it definitely helps my spine conditions. I recently started physical therapy again. The orthopedic specialist I see told me to work with Imelda again for my spine, lower back pain and nerve pain. PT is helping me quite a bit. I was given new exercises to add to my home routine that are helping me improve and strengthen. From the time I walk through the front door to when I leave, I do not feel rushed. My questions are answered. Imelda confirms that I understand my protocol and instructions. The facility is wonderful and has quite a bit of equipment and classes offered if needed. I am very grateful to Imelda and PhysioPartners. I've shared Imelda's and PhysioPartners' information with friends and colleagues.

Imelda was the first provider who used a truly holistic approach to my care. While other PTs had only focused on my head and neck, Imelda quickly understood that my scoliosis was connected to my migraines and her treatment plan was comprehensive. I've had a very positive experience with Imelda and highly recommend her for physical therapy. She is extremely knowledgeable, empathetic, and thorough. I understand my body and triggers much better after working with her. My migraine frequency and scoliosis pain have improved tremendously.
