For scheduling, insurance and payments, the "Patient Experience Coordinator" was unfriendly and abrupt, making interactions uncomfortable. I regularly worked with two physical therapists at this location for 1-2 sessions per week for more than 6 months. During each one hour visit, I worked directly with the physical therapist for 30 minutes and was then turned over to a young trainee/student for exercises. The level of competence of the trainee varied widely. Some paid attention and offered clear direction and others handed out balls or bands and then walked off. After not progressing with my recovery, I left this Athletico and spent months under the care of physical therapists at a hospital affiliated office where the full 60 minute session is with the physical therapist only. The level of care and my recovery progress increased immediately. Something to note, my insurance covered physical therapy with the same copay at the Athletico location and at my new physical therapy office. The value of care provided couldn't have been farther apart.

I'm doing better in one month than others I know 6 months out who had been through the same surgery. Daniel, Jessica and the assistants have all been patient, professional and understanding. Very interactive diagnostician more interested in healing/treating patients than insurance…read moreregulations. Listens and explains; energetic and honest. One of the best doctors around.

After moving back to chicago after college I returned to northshore/Swedish as that's where my…read morepediatrician was previously located. Since then I've seen only two primary care doctors (one- two times each if that), choosing them only because they had the earliest availability, not because I had a good connection with them, actually quite the contrary, as one suggested against a routine culture as I was sexually active but not showing ill symptoms. Anyway, I have an appointment for a procedure at a medspa next week and before moving forward with it, I wanted to meet with a new doctor to get a second opinion. I already paid my deposit with the medspa but have 72 hours to cancel it if need be. My primary care doctor (I've only seen once) was booked until September and I was looking to switch anyway. I booked with Dr. Johansson as he was the only doctor who had availability before my med spa appointment and had good reviews. I then received a phone call from his receptionist saying he couldn't take me. I asked why not. She said because "he's the doctor and he said so" and couldn't give me a reason. I was honest and said as long as there's availability with him online I'm going to continue to book until I have a valid reason for cancellation. I'm a paying customer with insurance. When I pushed for an answer, she said one can perceive my actions as 'doctor hopping,' which doctors don't like. I informed her that I had yet to speak with a licensed physician about this concern, as my record can reflect, and that I was just looking for a second opinion not necessarily a prescription. I previously missed an appointment regarding the same issue but the record reflects that I never met or spoke with a doctor. I haven't seen any doctor about anything since April. There was no "I'll let the doctor know" or "I'll have him follow up," it was a complete disregard for patient care. Pretentious, I have the power attitude, and cares more about being right than understanding not everyone situation is black and white. I understand there are patients that 'doctor hop' looking for a certain result but doctors should have the decency to hear a patient out. Patients should have a right to switch to doctors they feel comfortable and safe with, just like patients can switch therapists. Looks like not being able to schedule with him was a blessing in disguise.

Don't go to this place! They overcharge for their services. Charges to insurance don't make sense…read more Wildly different prices from one day to the next and multiple charges for the same therapy each time. They delay processing the bill so you don't catch on until you've run up a huge bill. They charged over 10k to my insurance company for 8 sessions over one month. They don't fix your problem and want you coming back for as long as possible. They did not tell me what the cost would be up front and once the charges came through, my portion of the bill was over $700 dollars. Some of the charges for one day of therapy was over $1000. They set you up with appointments for weeks and when you cancel, some of the biggest bills where the last two appointments. All I had done was dry needling and they helped me with exercises. The needling didn't help and the exercises made my injury worse. The staff is nice enough but that's because they want you coming back. Talk like they know what they are doing but really have no clue. They dance around your problem and never cure it. I started feeling better when they stopped the torture. I am disputing the charges and contemplating filing a complaint with the Illinois Insurance commission. This is what's wrong with our health care system. These companies that charge astronomical amounts and pass it on to the insurance companies while customers don't look at what they are being charged and just pay the copay. Meanwhile our insurance rates keep rising along with the cost of healthcare. They told me this was in network with my insurance company while hiding the true charges until the bill comes weeks later. They are affiliated with Saint Francis Hospital Then St Francis hospital starts harassing you with endless calls for payment even before you receive a bill. Don't use the company. No wonder they popped up in every neighborhood. They must be making a huge profit from ripping off customers while using deceptive accounting practices.

I suffer from back pain and at the recommendation of my primary doctor, started going to Rush PT…read more I assumed that they were part of the Rush hospital system. But after reviewing the Yelp, i now realize it is actually some company called "Novacare". For the last 2 months, I have been going here once a week. The facility is very small and cramped, the equipment is a bit bare. But the main problem is that there is only 1 or 2 actual Physical Therapists in the office at a time, while there are 3-5 patients scheduled for the same time. Each session is about 50-60 minutes long. But the actual time with the PT is really about 15 minutes (as Gina F mentioned in her review). The PT shows you the exercise movements about 2-3 times, then has you do 2-3 reps, makes some corrections, tells you to do 2-3 more sets by yourself, and then wanders off to work with another patient or to type something in the computer without really paying any attention to you. If the PT had already shown you an exercise before, she may just hand you off to a Student/Intern and have them run through the exercise with you. But again, the student also is not paying any attention to you while doing the exercise and is instead busy chatting with each other. Ultimately, my time ended when the PT said, she didn't think PT was working for me. Sometimes, I would realize later that I was doing the exercise wrong a few sessions later, when the actual PT showed it to me again. But I do admit, I didn't do my home exercises everyday, but only 3-4 days a week at home. Conclusion, - I would recommend you look for a better office that has more space so patients don't bump into each other. I would also recommend a PT office that offers One on One PT to patient services instead. I will be trying a different PT office and see if that is more helpful.

This is place a factory, with several patients going at once in the small space. I suspect the…read moreoutput of the factory is invoices, not care. The conditions I sought care for were unresolved, and I ended up with a massive bill for working 10-15 minutes with a PT and 45 minutes with a student. Fun fact: I'd been going for weeks before they realized my "plan" wasn't even in the computer. Then how were you reviewing and adjusting? My symptoms did not improve, but worsened, and after 12 visits I stopped going and doing the "exercises". It took about 2 months, but eventually the pains caused by following their care went away for the most part (resurfaces on the treadmill but at least it's no longer daily), as did one of the 2 concerns I came in for (lower back better, but tip of tailbone will probably take a while) . Over Thanksgiving I was visiting family out of state and my brother, a brilliant physical therapist, asked how my PT was going. He was surprised when I told him about the assigned exercises, which he didn't think were addressing the issue, and stunned to learn that after their care caused pain in my hips, they kept having me do exercises that exacerbated that pain and performed no adjustments. This isn't Rush caliber care. Perhaps they lack adequate experience, but I'm not prepared to pay for the learning curve. I went back to the gym and definitely avoiding this place. Just got my bill (last visit in November) and the charges are outrageous. $330-400 per visit to mostly do ineffective exercises with a student. I tried to call the billing dept and negotiate the bill down since the service was ineffective and actually did harm, but they refused. 2 stars because the people at this location are nice and probably did their best.
