Old fashioned doctoring. I called to schedule an appointment with Dr. Kellen Choi. I was surprised…read morethat he had multiple openings in his schedule including "tomorrow at 10:30 AM." Great! I was also told, "come in 15 minutes early so that we can update your insurance paperwork." I arrived at 10:15 AM, updated the insurance information, and sat down in the waiting room. At 11:15 AM (45 minutes after my scheduled appointment) the receptionist informed me and two other patients waiting for Dr. Choi that "he is running behind and it will be at least 45 minutes" before he could see anyone. So... I'm here at 10:30 AM and it's going to be at least NOON before he can see anyone else? And I don't even know if I'm next in line since there are two other patients waiting for him. This is clearly old fashioned doctoring. When seeing my normal doctor (who is part of the Northwestern Medical Group) I never wait more than a few minutes before I am called into the examination room. A few minutes after I am in the examination room someone is taking my vitals (temperature, blood pressure, etc.). Within 48 hours after the appointment I receive a detailed questionnaire asking me, "How long did you have to wait before you were called into the examination room? And, get this... the choices are: Less than 5 minutes / Less than 15 minutes, etc. Also, "How long did you have to wait in the examination room? And again... the choices are: Less than 5 minutes / Less than 15 minutes, etc. There is clearly the expectation that the doctors will not be overbooked and make their patients wait for them like they are gods. I'm usually a very calm person and was waiting patiently to have my shoulder looked at, but Dr. Choi's obvious overbooking put me over the top. It reminds me of the bumper sticker I once saw. It had the Bell Telephone logo and the words, "We don't care. We don't have to."

Amy Stumpf is beyond excellent and helped me so much! She went out of her way to get me in for an appt as soon as I was released from the hospital so that I could begin to receive help regarding breast feeding. She was also able to evaluate my son's mouth for ties and walked me through all the oral stretches after those were released. Highly highly recommend.

They have created an incredible environment both physically and culturally. My daughter loves coming to speech therapy - an unbelievable feat! Between the gyms full of fun equipment to bounce, swing, climb, and jump on and the toys/games room filled to the brim with so many types of activities, BDI really lives up the "playhouse" in their name. All the therapists incorporate play into their sessions, either switching between exercises and fun, or combining the two! Everyone I've encountered seems to genuinely enjoy their job. When you walk into BDI, there is an upbeat positive feeling throughout- therapists greeting their next appointments as well as saying hello to the other kids they see. The other patients are happy to see their buddies (therapists) too! You can tell that everyone cares deeply about their patients. A wonderful benefit of their multidisciplinary office is the collaboration between therapists and disciplines. If your child needs multiple services, the therapists are in one location and can easily work together, determining the appropriate order and timing for the different services. It is much less coordination for the parent, both from a scheduling perspective and a patient approach. The patient gets better care with less friction. And, if the stars and schedules align, sometimes you can get back to back appointments to minimize visits to the office too! My daughter has worked primarily with Amy for speech therapy, with some physical therapy from Lisa. Amy has a kind welcoming demeanor that was absolutely perfect for my daughter, who takes time to warm up to new people. Amy moves at Viv's pace while still getting through the therapy exercises. She is able to gently reign Viv in when she is being less than cooperative. Amy is realistic about what is and is not feasible for daily homework and keeps it to the most impactful exercises. We love Miss Amy! Lisa is also wonderful, regularly checking in with Viv to see how things feel and making sure nothing hurts. She doesn't dismiss Viv's feelings and reactions, but uses them to guide treatment. There is a level of respect and consideration for the kids that they don't always receive from grownups. I have also gotten to be a patient at BDI for physical therapy, specifically for Craniosacral therapy (CST). I've had long standing challenges around breathing/posture/stress and have spent many years working through these with exercise, speech, physical therapy, and more. Lisa, Andrea, and Cassie at BDI have been an incredibly important part of improving these issues. I have been a tightly wound person my whole life, never good at relaxing. Other than coming out of anesthesia after surgery, I've never truly felt relaxed in my body until a few sessions into CST. I hadn't consciously taken a real, full, deep breath using the correct primary breathing muscles until my CST sessions at BDI. Now that I know what a relaxed state and a full deep breath feel like, I can get much closer to replicating them on my own through home practice. I feel calmer. My posture has improved- my shoulders are less rounded and my rib cage moves a lot more. I'm able to use these improvements in my Pilates practice to make more lasting improvements. The actual sessions are wonderfully relaxing. I highly recommend BDI Playhouse - an exceptional environment providing supportive services to kids and grownups. I'm so glad we found BDI Playhouse!

Its been a week since I started treatment at Advanced Physicians. I wanted to give it some time and…read morethought so I might write a meaningful review. Previously I received my health "care" through the VA Healthcare System. After a week at Advanced Physicians I now know what real health care is. Sadly, the VA only been providing me health "monitoring" at best over the past 15 yrs. If I pushed things, the VA provided me with useless pain meds. That was it. I have suffered from chronic lower back pain (stenosis) for over 2 years. It limited my ability to move around. My back and body became tightened. I then developed severe mid back pain about 4 months ago on top of that. Apparently, I have a cyst in my spine pressing on a nerve. The pain kept me up at night. I needed help to get out of bed. I was no longer able to bathe myself adequately. I had to ease myself into the bathtub with help for baths. Over time, my mind went to a dark place. I began to feel hopeless and helpless. Fortunately for me, the VA was unable to offer me pain treatment in their pain management clinic. So, They referred me to Advanced Physicians in Crest Hill and I now also receive treatments in their Aurora Center- in my hometown, locally. Instead of receiving useless pain medication that only left me groggy (and still in severe pain), I now get REAL treatment for my pain from Advanced Physicians. No meds! Instead, I was thoughtfully evaluated by their Doctors and we developed a plan for treatment that I can say, with certainty... is working. What a blessing! So far I have gotten massages to loosen up my rock hard tight spine. I've received IFC (stimulation), chiropractic adjustments, heat and cold treatment and have started basic flexibility exercises. For the first time in months I can stand in the shower! I feel strong enough, stable on my feet and most importantly, I can now take showers again, independently, standing up and feeling safe. Its only been a week, but there are so many more "simple" improvements to my pain relief, increased flexibility and strength that I could go on and on about these positive changes to my physical strength, mobility and health. But I will sum it up simply by saying, Advanced Physicians have helped me regain "hope", when I used to feel life was hopeless. Where I used to just isolate myself in my room or in bed- I'm now beginning to imagine doing many of the things I used to once enjoy. I know it may be a while until I see more permanent and long lasting changes. Beyond a doubt, Advanced Physicians has provided me the BEST healthcare "treatments" I've received in over 8 yrs. They didn't just ask me questions and prescribed me pills. Instead, they actually put their hands on my spine and back, watched my stance, posture and gait. And in doing so, THEY were able to understand my pain and difficulties. They could see it and feel it with THEIR hands. A lost art? Perhaps this is what seems to be missing in healthcare today? Question can be informative, but the feeling of touch- bumps, tightness, swelling, stiffness. These things can tell my story better than my words. I had previously served 12 yrs in the US Army as a medical sergeant in the Rangers, Paratroopers and Special Forces in the 1980s and 90s. I am now considered 100% disabled. I have the ability to tolerate a great deal of pain. But should I really need to still suffer 25+ years after the end of my service? I believed I was provided adequate healthcare by the VA. Now I realize that sadly, its just been VA health "monitoring" not real health "care". I'm so grateful for being a patient now at Advanced Physicians. I feel better. At age 55, I had started to feel my life was just about over. Its a bit overwhelming to be able to do basic activities in my home that I have not been able to do for months. But perhaps the most important thing that I have regained through see the Doctors at Advanced Physician, is they have given me back real hope. Thank you.

IT COSTS $4,000 for 3 months of "treatment". which is utter BULLSHIT! the "machine" they give you looks like it cost $10 and was made in china, and it doesn't even work half the time.
