I started with them in July after my first knee replacement and then once again in November when I had my second. Overall good care although I would have preferred 1 on 1 therapy. I would only get a half hour before I was handed over to the assistant. Main complaint though if you're a bit late they will charge you 40 dollars such as they did yesterday when I had my arrival time wrong by 15 minutes. They did offer to reschedule me at 7 am two days later. This is after 30 plus sessions arriving on time and typically early. There was absolutely no one in the facility but they would not let me even have an abbreviated session. They were sitting around. So I canceled my remaining appointments and will look for physical therapy in a more customer focused business where I feel valued. read more

Their reps are completely incapable of basic human communication and cannot help themselves but resort to childish behavior and will lie to your face and say they fixed an issue only for it to keep happening. I have been going through billing Hell with the billing department. After paying for my therapy they have yet to correct my billing statement. It's been over a year. I have sent registered letters, emailed and even called. Every time I call they take a message and say the billing manager will call me. They never have! I simply dont know what to do about these people. Physical therapy was fine (a little expensive) but the billing department is terrible. If I need PT in the future I will make sure to find another place to work with. This isn't worth the hassle. read more

Have been going to Athletico in Lake Forest and receiving excellent care. I have two chronic issues, so I go each week. Went this morning and was initially happy that Athletico was open. Upon arriving, they screened all patients for Covid-19 with questions (no thermometer available), but NONE of the therapists or staff were wearing gloves or masks. They come in contact with so many infirm people and this virus is super contagious, even if you have no symptoms. For the health of your staff and your patients, PLEASE get your teams protective gear. OR CLOSE YOUR DOORS. We have filed a complaint with the Lake County Health Department. All other medical facilities (and even Jewel grocery store) provide their employees with gloves and masks, at least. How unprofessional and irresponsible in these challenging times! read more

Had shoulder surgery in early May and came home to Oak Brook. Have done my physical therapy at AthletiCo on 16th in Oak Brook. I was assigned to Abby Davis and we began. I can say that the entire team and facility operates like a fine tuned machine. Professional staff helping each other and lookin after the facility and it's equipment as if it were their own! Since starting the program in mid June I can report that Abby has me performing beyond my optimistic expectations which assured me of a continuing active lifestyle...important for a 79 year old retired gentleman I proudly boast about AthletiCo to all I see and they see the difference it has made in me. My nightmare with Athletico began almost a year ago. I needed physical therapy and since I had an ok experience with Athletico before, I thought I'd go again. Big mistake. I called to make my appointment and gave all my insurance information. I was called back and told that my insurance said I had already met what they were going to cover but it was not a problem because they have a contract with them and they will pay what they are contracted to pay. Being desperate and thinking these people knew what they were talking about, I went ahead and made the appointment. At my first appointment I was told all about how they have a contract with the insurance company and it will only cover so three visits, which would have been one week. Instead of making the one hour visit, I was told they would schedule shorter visits so I could make progress. After the third visit, I got a call from my insurance company over another matter and when I asked about Athletico, they told me they never told them that. They said I wasn't covered for anything. So, I had to cancel the other appointments. A month later, I receive a bill and sure enough the insurance company was right. They didn't cover anything. I called to set up a payment plan and ask about why I was told one thing by them and another thing happened. They looked into it and the facility I went to, lied. They told whoever was doing the investigation that I was told by them I had no coverage and I said that was fine with me. Really? Where would I come up with that story and who only schedules an appointment for 25-30 minutes? After complaining, I receive another bill for the same services but this time on the bill the discount they said they gave me was gone. It was $100 higher. That's the one I now have to pay. I talked to a woman Debra who said she was the decision maker and I was put on a payment plan. She told me I had to pay $20 a month. That they don't pressure their clients, they understand etc. I paid the $20 and a few weeks later, I receive a berating phone call from her. Telling me I didn't pay the agreed upon amount. When I said I agreed to $20, she started talking to me like I was a child who needed to be reprimanded and told me in her notes it was $25. Fine. I made the $25 a month payment for the next months. One day in December, I looked at my bill and noticed it said I was 120 days late. How could I be 125 days late when I was making my $25 a month payment, which I was told was the agreed upon payment. Made another phone call and was told I wasn't on a payment plan that the $25 payment was only for one month and told how much they wanted instead. I told them I couldn't afford that. I was told they were going to let Debra know. A month later, I receive in the mail a form for Financial Aid. No letter of explanation as to why I'm getting this or what I'm supposed to do with it. Just a form. I never asked for financial aid. Thinking it's to prove to them that I really do have over $6000 worth of medical bills, I don't make that much money, I have no assets, I fill out the form and send them everything they want. Get another phone call from Debra saying they want more information. By this time, I'm done with this and getting physically ill. I let my husband handle it. He is told by her that chances are that I will not get Financial Aid and she has the authority to put us back on the $25 a month payment plan. After discussing it, my husband calls her back and told her since she said chances are we won't be approved, we will continue to make the $25 payment. That's when the story changed. When this all started back in June, I was told by her that she makes the final decisions. Now, she tells my husband that her manager said that she will not allow us to make that payment and she decides on financial aid. Funny how last year she told us she makes the final decisions. My husband asked to speak to her manager and she wouldn't put him through to her. He asked for her name and phone number and she didn't know the name of her manager, he was given two different names. The name and number he was given was for a manager with the last name of Little. I called that number on Tuesday and received her voice mail. The first name my husband was given is not the same as what was on the voice mail. I left a message asking to have her call me back, with my phone number and I have yet to hear from her. My husband called Debra yesterday and told her to just send it to collections since they have done nothing but lied to us from the moment I walked into their clinic. She told my husband that there was still a chance we could get Financial Aid. Funny how that story changed again. My husband told her we didn't want financial aid, we just couldn't make the monthly payments they insist upon when we have other medical bills we have to pay, a roof to keep over our heads and a daughter to feed. Still waiting for that phone call back from Ms. Little. Won't hold my breath. read more

I have been a patient of the Arlington Heights Illinois Athletico for a couple of years. Following my hip replacement in February, 2018, I had pt until May, 2018. I received pre-surgery exercise training in September, 2018 and then following my December, 2018 knee replacement, I was a patient through June, 2019. My primary therapist was Jamie Lewandowski, but I was also seen by Sylvia, Brook and Beth. I am 69 years old and have had pt numerous times throughout my life. I can say with no reservations that Jamie Lewandowski is the best therapist I have ever had. She tailored every session to what I needed most that day. She is knowledgeable, compassionate, but persistent in ensuring you hve the best recovery possible. The office staff also is exceptional. Nancy particularly is friendly and helpful. I always felt welcomed and was never kept waiting past my appointment time. I have Medicare and a supplement so I can't speak to their billing practices. But the care I received and the results I achieved at Athletico in Arlington Heights were the best I have ever experienced from physical therapy. read more

very unethical company with unprofessional doctors. Company doesn't provide enough support to the doctors to give good quality of service. Then medical negligence gets covered by the company and more professional doctors. It's not worth to trust company like that your own health. With physical therapy you cannot know exactly if it's provided correctly right away. In my case it was all incorrect, unprofessional uneducated doctors with big ego and ethical problems. Yet cover up very well in the medical records. But the result devastated, a small mistake that should have been caught in the first few sessions got instead covered up by 3 month of incorrect physical therapy. As the result a year later I am close to be disabled with serious health issues, yet a year ago it was a routine small fix that if implemented correctly would only have taken 10 visits. Another important thing is that most of the negative google reviews company hides or reports as incorrect, so there is no real picture on real customer experience on google maps read more

I'm writing this review on the corporate site as well as the location I used, because it is equal location and billing issues I had to deal with. Don't use Athletico facilities, their charges are ridiculous, and I have decent insurance!! I've done therapy before at another facility, and 6 months of it, 3 times a week for 2 hours totaled was at least 10 times less than it would have been continuing here. After finding out there were 2 charges adding up over $400 for one visit (which I will still have to pay $200 out of pocket for), I contacted them. Maggie, their billing person, first told me the one charge was for the therapist, the second for the facility (the highest cost). After sending the letter she requested disputing the charges of the facility, which she sent to management, she comes back saying it is a therapist charge for the evaluation and a unit of exercise charge, for every 15 minutes. It would have been nice to have clear information to begin with (and she acted like insurance had given me the information about the facility charge when it came from her upon first going over charges). Not only was their calculation of time doing exercises wrong (a good 35 minutes was the therapist gingerly looking at my injury and typing into her computer, maybe 20 minutes of exercises), but their exercises consisted of me moving my foot up and down against a wall in various formats for my foot injury, and her talking with her colleagues while she had a timer to do the work. I used none of their equipment, I was not given an exercise sheet to take home, no stretching equipment, basically I could have just easily done them at my home from a sheet of paper. I was also told when going in this was the initial evaluation, which the beginning exercises would be a part of, not a second high cost for a longer time frame than I even did them for. At my other therapy they did things such as cortisone therapy, used ultrasound machines, the therapists stretching out the injury, exercises machines targeted at the injury and gave me lots of stretching equipment and braces to use at home (many of these done in the initial visit of 2 hours). Their charges were normal, Athletico's are trumped up. This was just one visit, I can't imagine going there for routine therapy. Beware you will pay a substantial amount for little result!! read more

My daughter was seen at her High School by a contracted Athletico trainer. She logged into the training room computer with a head/face injury. She was not treated for her head as she entered in the computer. Instead the trainer gave her ice for her back and was sent back to practice. My husband or/& I were not called & head injury /concussion protocols were not followed. Very disappointing. This company is horrible! If you have a serious injury you might want to think about staying away from this company period. I took a functional evaluation capacity with this company after three surgeries and a permanent limited condition. The therapist that was giving the test was extremely rude and he was handling my shoulder very ruff even after I was telling him that he was hurting me. He proceeded to raise my arm as I was in pain after the test I waited for the report on the report he lied and said that I raised my arm over my head multiple times with my own power! Even my doctor was shock at such a report because I have had the same doctor for the pass 9 years and he also performed the 3 surgeries on me. Dr. Doctor even stated to me that if he didn't know me from reading this report that he would've thought that nothing was wrong with my shoulder the therapist stated that I was putting on about my pain and mobility. This was truly an insult to me by all means, I wrote letters for months to the president in which I never received any type of reply from him. I also made numerous calls to the corporate office in which I was blown off from the staff and they also stated that they would leave the president a message in which he never responded again I would stay away from this company at any cost! read more
