I have benefited greatly from my team there. Trying to find strengthening exercises for my deficits is their highest priority and it shows. First, they tried to ignore severe pain and muscle spams due to nerve damage in my hip that…read moreoccurred during my knee replacement surgery as "a little soreness after surgery." I had to force the issue of effectively treating the situation and it still took them 10 days before they bothered to do the correct treatment that should have been done on postop day 2. This borders on malpractice. Secondly, when I was asked, I told them that I expected to be walking without a cane after surgery. I had been forced to use a cane for about 5-6 years prior to surgery due to safety concerns and the need to preserve what I could of being able to use the knee. My expectation of being able to walk normally was completely ignored. Instead, when I tried to walk without the cane, I was told to keep using the cane. This continued throughout my entire time in rehab. Somehow they thought that using the cane was going to help me be able to walk without it. Even I don't think that's right!! This means that I couldn't really walk when they decided to dismiss me from their care. They didn't care about getting to the correct place; all they cared about was that I could stand and waddle around a little with the cane. That is not good rehabilitation. It is coming up on a year since my surgery and I still cannot walk normally because they never appropriately addressed the problems in my hips that were caused by the use of the cane. Basically they expected me to figure it out on my own. I am going to have to go to a different doctor (not one who is part owner of this facility) and a different PT place in order to get proper medical care. I find that disgusting. I will never recommend this PT facility to anyone. At this point I am unsure if I will ever be able to return to my sport. They do not care about performance. Do they even know what that word means? They only care about money.

I don't feel shushed. Etc etc etc. There's a reason why they have such a good reputation.

The staff is attentive and helpful and they make sure there's always a fun and enjoyable atmosphere. Sometimes your PT will be working with other patients at the same time as you but it never interferes with the care you are receiving. They always do what's best for you! SERC in Olathe is a calm environment and a place for healing! It feels like something other than an exercise gym or a center to compete with others. I appreciate that SERC is diverse in hiring their staff and therapists in their ages and cultures. Everyone is highly educated and has experience in many ways to approach an injury. I could not perform one of the exercises I started with, so my Therapist showed me another way to use the same muscles without pain. I was surprised when I could build up to that original exercise and perform it without pain or further injury. Some of the staff and therapists are extroverts, and some are introverts. All of them are welcoming and kind and have a good sense of humor! Karley, the manager (and Therapist), is humble, caring, and even-keel! She makes me feel "at home" when I come for therapy. Karley is excellent! The office coordinator is Amyah, and she is so good at the details of her job! She is one of the kindest people, humble and genuine! I'm a repetitive learner, and Amyah has had to repeatedly tell me how to process my co-pays. She treats me like it's the first time I've asked a question instead of the tenth. She is one of the sweetest people I know! My Therapist, this time, is James (Chuanhan). He is quieter, and I am very talkative; he is young, and I am old, and he never misses a beat! He interacted with me SO WELL!! He handled my constant talking and genuinely didn't seem bothered by it. He is brilliant and has a great sense of humor. He motivated me and made my therapy fun. I improved more than I thought I could. If I ever need treatment again, I will choose SERC in Olathe and Chuanhan as my Therapist!!!

I showed up a bit early and Sydney (my Occupational Therapist) was already there expecting me. She was very patient and helpful in finding the right one for me at the lowest possible cost. She also made sure I knew how to take the splint off. She also took time to explain how my injury was healing, so that I knew why I had to have the splint on 100% of the time over the next few weeks. The benefits coordinator (?) Sarah was also great, she had to stay on the phone with the insurance company while helping another patient check in as she came in. No one wishes to have to have PT or OT, but if you do, then SERC is the place to ensure a positive experience for you.
