I had a very disappointing and unsafe experience at this clinic. The therapist tried to position me on my stomach and used heat therapy on my lower back, even though I clearly said I'm 15 weeks pregnant and have a herniated disc. I have been going to Athletico South Loop for four weeks now and am very thankful for their support and services! I came in with acute & sudden low back pain that was basically constant & debilitating. The pain has since improved, as has my functionality, which I believe is due to the exercise program that Athletico has built for me. Taylor has been my PT and working with her has been awesome--I feel that she really listens to my concerns and adapts my exercise program based on my needs (the exercises she's recommended for me also address some chronic problems I've had with my hip, which is great). Even in the past month, I've felt myself getting stronger, and I look forward to progressing further (will hopefully be pain-free within a month or two!). I have been to other PT clinics in the past but this is the first time I've seen real improvement with a program. I also feel really comfortable within the clinic; everyone is supportive and welcoming, and Veronica at the front desk is very helpful and kind. South Loop Athletico located at 1509 S. Michigan is the best for many reasons: 1. Free Parking right next door. 2. The receptionist is very accommodating to meet my available schedule. 3. The Clinic Manager, John Costanzo was very knowledgeable, professional, and helped me with areas of my pain with 90 success. I am hopeful with continued workout John printed out for me to focus, I will be 100% well. 4. I have gone to another Atletico location but compared to the one in the South Loop, it does not meet the high standard that the staff and the accommodations at the South Loop Athletico offers. read more

I have gone to this facility off and on over the past few years to deal with various issues, I prefer Athletico to other PT. The one-on-one service is always professional and the therapists they hire are extremely well trained. The range of motion exercises, and other treatments, address the diagnosis made by my primary care doctor(s). Sometimes the movements are repetitive and tough, but they are meant to build strength and stability. They find a level that you can master and advance you through the sessions. Disciplining myself to practice the functional movements at home is the key. I've been able to return to my exercise routines slowly, but the best reward for me is being able to walk more and having less pain! read more

Arrived ON TIME for my scheduled therapy appointment. I sat and waited for 15 minutes without being greeted by the therapist on duty. I'm pretty sure he was aware of the therapy schedule for that day. Yet, he refused to acknowledge me while he worked with other clients. Very unprofessional! I DO NOT recommend this clinic. I've had the unfortunate opportunity to have broken my collarbone(s) three times over the past six or seven years. But I've had the fortunate opportunity to be treated the past two times by Tyler Zeken. He's a terrific therapist--fantastic listener, phenomenal explainer, gives just the right amount of advancement in exercises and homework, and is just an all-around great guy. Two months ago, I visited him after a two-year hiatus (the first experience also great--at first I was skeptical, because he's so young). I asked for him by name. I told him that I had hoped to never see him again (i.e., with another collarbone fracture and the level of pain and limited mobility that go with it). I just completed my eight weeks of therapy today (including a few weeks via Zoom, given the coronavirus). He was equally great over telemedicine, though I missed the manipulations (?) that he did that helped push my range of motion quickly. The support staff is also very helpful and the Athletico facilities are organized and clean, though if Tyler moved elsewhere, I'd follow him wherever. Keep up the great work and attitude! read more

I started physical therapy at Athletico South Loop location, for a severely broken ankle. After not being able to put weight on my ankle for more than six weeks, I was in a very sensitive and emotional state when I started physical therapy. What I learned very quickly is that the name "physical therapist" does not accurately describe the work they do. Not only did my physical therapists, Laura and Lucas help me gain my confidence back so that I could tolerate the pain and perform the exercises, they were very sensitive to my emotional state as well. I am literally having to learn how to walk again. They are both very caring about my overall well being, as well as the assistants, and for that, I'm truly grateful. It's been an emotional journey but they have helped me tremendously. The level of professionalism, commitment and caring I have received from both therapists, the assistants and ALL of the wonderful people that work at this location is superior. I am glad I chose this location for my therapy. They are the bes!!!!! read more

If you are looking for very knowledgeable, personable, and results-oriented therapists, I highly recommend Athletico Physical Therapy South Loop Michigan Ave. Their support and front desk are equally friendly and customer-service oriented. Sandy was my therapist who treated me for two separate yet related issues. Beyond being attentive, she is very efficient. She helped me achieve the level of mobility and strength I needed pain-free. She always made sure that whatever exercise I was doing, I was doing it correctly. There is no better feeling than being able to resume activities pain-free. I came to this location mainly because of the attached parking. I came in for pre-hab for a torn ACL and Tyler took great care of me. Tyler is a very knowledgable, proficient and caring physical therapist! He had answers for all my questions, and my knee improved significantly under his care. The appointment times were really convenient and flexible. The entire staff is very professional and made me feel excited about coming in, including Tito, Clinton and Jenee. I started physical therapy here a few weeks ago. I had 3 surgeries on my spine, the last of which was a one level spinal fusion. I have to admit I was scared to start therapy, as I've had so many complications in the past. That fear went away as soon as I got there-I felt comfortable with my therapist, Barbara, right off the bat. She is incredible! It's clear that she is very knowledgeable in regards to my injury. She pushes me, but never too much that she's hurting me in any way. I never thought I'd say this, but I actually look forward to my sessions. Barbara and her assistants take excellent care of me, and make sure that I'm doing my exercises correctly. As an added bonus, David, who sits at the front desk, is a gem. He's very friendly and easy to talk to..it makes the whole experience that much better. I've had plenty of therapy at other places, but this is far and beyond the best I've ever had! read more

Pretty much the worst experience. I was never given a copy of the exercises I was supposed to do on ,my own even though I requested it at every single visit. I know zoom is not ideal, but at least the therapist could have paid attention to whether I was performing the exercises correctly. I realized later that I never improved because I was doing most of the exercises incorrectly during the sessions. After receiving a final bill and paying it in full, I was then sent another bill saying that that was not actually the final bill, there were additional charges that I still owed!! My current physical therapist(not Athletico) is professional and I finally am seeing improvement in my condition. read more

Great location and hours. Very accommodating with scheduling. Don't use it but they have a parking lot right next to building. Following all the Covid-19 protocols and even offer teletherapy sessions when needed. I highly recommend Mandy, as she is my main PT but I have also had a couple of sessions with Tyler when Mandy was out. I actually started with Deepa and she was great but is usually at a different location. They are all like a part of my family now. read more

After having surgery on my leg due to an infection I went to Athletico. On my first day I came to the facility using a walker, not able to bend my leg or drive the car. Not being able to drive or walk on my own restricted my quality of life. My Physical Therapist was, Tyler, who listened intently and prepared a plan. Tyler let me progress at my own pace, answered my many questions and gave me exercises to do at home. Soon to be physical therapist Clinton, Tito and Janae were all very helpful in explaining the exercise. Nick, who works the front desk, was very good at setting up visits convenient with my schedule and communicating with the insurance company. I am excited to say I am now able to ride a bike, drive the car and walk on my own. I am very happy to have a good quality of life back because of Tyler, Lucas, Clinton, Tito, Janae and Nick. Physical Therapy is so important! It really works! Don't live in pain when you can take steps to heal yourself! I had frozen shoulder. Tyler Zeken was my PT and he's honestly just the best! THE BEST. He's super knowledgeable and explained the hows and whys of my condition. As I progressed, he'd continually update my exercises to push me and help both my range of motion & my pain. Frozen shoulder takes a long time to unfreeze, so I was at PT for months. Lucky for me, I had my rockstar PT in my corner! Tyler is friendly, personable, and a great conversationalist. That always helps when there's some uncomfortable stretching that needs to be done! I had a great experience at Athletico. My sessions were easy to schedule, the place is clean, and the staff is super friendly. Tyler is a great PT. He really knows his stuff and works at your pace. I went in for some rehab on my shoulder. He pinpointed the issue and put together a fantastic regimen for me to follow. When I finished my last session, he gave me an at-home exercise program and continued to follow up with me to check on my progress. It's been one year since I've been discharged from Athletico, so I thought I'd write a review of the memorable experience I had there! I was a patient for 16 weeks at this location after I had surgery on my right ACL. This was the first time I was ever seriously injured and operated on, so I have no basis of comparison with other physical therapy clinics. All I know is that I was under the very best care at Athletico and trusted my physical therapist and aides. My doctor prescribed me to three sessions a week for most of my time in therapy, so I had a ton of time to get to know the clinic as well as everyone else I worked with. My therapist, Barbara, was more than I could have asked for in a therapist. She was very honest and supportive, but she was also informative and professional. There were many times where I was scared to move to the next level of improvement, and not only did she calm my fears, she would always back up her encouragement with a doctor's perspective that made me trust her on so many levels. Her bedside manner was just what I needed every time I was in therapy, and it also helped me stay determined when I would continue my exercises on my own at home. Athletico's staff is also super warm and caring. Morgan, Elo, and Josh were usually helping me in whatever way they could during my sessions. They made sure I was comfortable, and always paid attention to my form when I did my exercises. The best part, though, is that they kept me company when exercising - sometimes they'd even do some of the exercises with me to encourage me! I really valued and appreciated the conversations we had and how effortlessly they made me stay positive. The staff at this location is really what sets it apart from others. When I was going through some insurance issues towards the end of my program, Barbara was very diligent and thorough in assessing my claim and reporting my progress in a timely manner. She also kept me very informed on the situation, making sure that we were making the best choices moving forward. In the end, I was able to complete my timetable without having to pay for any treatments out of pocket, and it was all thanks to them! One year later, I feel great, and I'm completely back to normal - I've ran a half marathon, hiked tons of times, and still use some of the circuit training exercises Barb used on me during PT sessions :) I am so thankful for them! read more

I came to Advanced/Athletico a few weeks ago seeking help for a shoulder issue. I've been working with a therapist named Liz Yerly, who is both intelligent and confident. Liz has a vast knowledge of diagnostic and therapeutic techniques, which are effective in restoring a patient's strength, range of motion, and physical capability. The office staff, led by Josh, is very friendly and extremely helpful when is comes to scheduling and/or insurance matters. I went to Athletico in the South Loop to get help with a back injury. They were able to see me on short notice (same day I called) and Caitlin (the Facility Manager) was very friendly and helpful. She showed me how to do a few stretches to help ease the pain and gave other useful tips. As she predicted, my injury subsided within a couple days and I was back to normal. I would definitely recommend Caitlin and her staff for anyone in need of physical therapy. read more
