I had such a wonderful, in fact, life altering experience at Cary Athletico, I had to share it with everyone.

She was fiercely reluctant to leave her solitude and "stuff"...but I feel she is in a good place, with good people and surrounded by other seniors - some of whom she relates to, others maybe not so much (she is a tough cookie). Being a retired teacher and very involved in politics, environment, juvenile rehabilitation (amongst many other things that make me feel slightly unworthy...LOL as she is one to look up to!) it was hard for her to accept the reality of her life. I live in SF, CA. I grew up until age 7 in Michigan, spending summers in Ohio with my mom and grandma, sometimes my older brother too. My grandma taught me many things. I lived in the moment with her, picking berries as we floated down the river by her home on a canoe, to later make pie. We played piano, did ballet, wrote letters, cooked many meals, told endless stories. She taught me how to sew, how to make an entire outfit. I could go on and on about this amazing lady but this review is about Sunrise, right? Well, I have been here once. I plan to go back in the next few months. The 1st time I went, my son was 2 - now he is 4. The place is clean, well staffed and has upbeat lively old time music playing in the background (think "somewhere over the rainbow!"). I was worried about seeing my dear grandma in a "home." She took care of her parents, avoiding nursing homes for as long as possible. She took care of her ailing husbands in the same regard. So, to have to see her in a place that she worked to avoid putting those she loved....was hard. Sunrise helped alleviate this anguish with me. The people were warm, engaging and helpful. While I was there, I did not see too much interaction with my grandma. This worried me. It made me wonder how she was treated while I was not there. They would abruptly enter her room, do what they needed to do and then leave. I removed a star because I would have liked to see more warmth and engagement. I will be back soon and will observe any updates and report. But I can say, if you are considering an assisted living situation for someone you love - this is a place to consider. They do a good job here.

The PAIN WAS UNBEARABLE!!!!!!. I needed a Chiropractor ASAP. I called Dr. Barthens office and he was in. I went there and received 1 treatment and the pain was reduced by 50%. This Dr. is like magic. He's incredible at what he does. When something goes out of place once in a while. Most of the time it's just a single treatment and I'm done. He never pushes for another appointment or tries to get you to do dumb things just to make some extra money. He CARES about people and has a genuine desire to want to take there pain away and get them well. 6 months ago I fell down some stairs and herniated 3 discs. Instead of surgery at a cost of $75,000 and about an 80% failure rate over 5 years on average. Dr. Barthen has this equipment that stretches your spine over a period of months. By doing that, my back has put the herniated discs back into place on there own with ZERO surgery and ZERO pain. These machines have a success rate of 92%. Far better than surgery and the cost difference was HUGE. He did it at a cost of only $5000 but I got a large discount for paying it all at the same time. I can't say enough about Dr. Barthen and his staff. Every one of them is fantastic!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! You may think this is to praise worthy and maybe I'm not a real customer but I can tell you I'm still seeing him and going on those machines. I'm down to 1 visit every other week. When you have had the kind of back pain I have had, you will praise his methods to as your pain goes away. If you want to see if I'm real and going to him. My next appointment is on Tuesday 2/25/20 at 4:30. I'll be on one of those machines. We can talk in person and i'll tell you the exact same thing face to face. Come and see me on Tuesday. People need to know about these spine stretching machines and what they do for people like me.
