Coach Bryan has been extremely respectful, welcoming and focused on individual needs of his students...within reason. His drills are always followed by motivation and application. When running drills he walks the room to ensure every student is able to perform the technique to the best of their experience and fitness level. If needed runs the drill with you personally. He expects you to put in the work and is not afraid to be frank when you are not mindful. This is of great importance as you are paying for his service as are others around you. Why waste your money and other's time? His gym is always spotless and never odorous... I have a bit of OCD so that is a great compliment. He is strict on mat cleanliness. He took me in old, bad vision and poor physical condition and is keeping me motivated, healthy and happy... my doctor loves him for that as does my wife. I'm a 32 year old woman and started training with Cindy (2x/week) in the middle of August and 2…read moremonths later, I'm still going strong (pun intended)! A huge reason for that is Cindy's approach to and knowledge of fitness. Our 55 minute sessions pass quickly because she is on top of her workout rotations and makes sure to keep things moving. She adds variety and new exercises frequently so one day is never the same as the last and she is cognizant of making sure we are using different muscle groups, all while measuring our progress along the way. I learned through these workouts that I'm prone to exercise induced nausea and Cindy has been nothing but patient with me, even adjusting some of the workouts to help try to avoid it from coming on. The gym itself is clean and well organized and I gratefully utilize the provided sweat towels. Not to mention it's decorated with fresh dahlias straight from Cindy's garden! I do early morning workouts and there is always plenty of street parking at that time. I also do my workouts with a buddy, both to help keep ourselves accountable and to take advantage of the group training price. It's $75/session, total for the two of us. Reasonable for my wallet and money well spent considering this is the most consistently I've worked out in years!! If you're on the fence, give her a call! Submit an inquiry through her website! They were all very knowledgeable and they fostered an encouraging and positive team environment tailored to all fitness levels. Every day was different so that kept the classes really interesting and time just flew by even though the workouts were tough! Cardio, weights, mobility - all in a fun and effective format. The gym goers each morning were also great to work out with, everyone was so positive and putting in their best effort even though it was 5am. I can't wait to return to Portland and attend again. The space was very clean, organized and had all the equipment you could want. I noticed a couple people were having personal training in the back half of the gym while the class was going on, so that looked like a great option too. Easy to park and there are cubbies to put your belonging in next to the workout space. I felt so welcome and already part of a team even though I was just a visitor there.

Coach Morgan and his team of coaches run a world class kids program that is not only technical but fun. The mix of drills, skills training and sparring with a mix of games in between keeps the kids engaged and happy. The community of parents and kids is solid gold. The caliber of kids that come here bring a sense of skill, passion, and it's like a small family. The engagement from the adults who train here as well as the owners and coaches creates such a family atmosphere. The head coach of the kids program Coach Morgan brings such a high level of jujitsu but most of all really cares for the students and families as if they were his own. The level of patience and care from the coaching team is unmatched. I felt incredibly welcomed and not at all embarrassed. The classes are extremely accommodating for all skill levels and the instructors could not be kinder or more encouraging. They foster such a wonderful atmosphere of learning and belonging while also providing an incredible workout. I'm so sad I moved away and can't attend anymore; every other class I've tried has been 95% workout/cardio and 5% actual kickboxing, but GIRLS Gym truly got into the fundamentals and know how while also providing an awesome work out! I will forever remember the incredible girls I met here and what they taught me.
