I have no experience with other martial arts establishments to make a comparison and am fairly new…read moreto this kind of practice but for many years I was a respected educator in academia and can honestly say Coach Bryan's professionalism as an educator, motivator and mentor is outstanding. Coach Bryan has been extremely respectful, welcoming and focused on individual needs of his students...within reason. His drills are always followed by motivation and application. When running drills he walks the room to ensure every student is able to perform the technique to the best of their experience and fitness level. If needed runs the drill with you personally. He expects you to put in the work and is not afraid to be frank when you are not mindful. This is of great importance as you are paying for his service as are others around you. Why waste your money and other's time? His gym is always spotless and never odorous... I have a bit of OCD so that is a great compliment. He is strict on mat cleanliness. He took me in old, bad vision and poor physical condition and is keeping me motivated, healthy and happy... my doctor loves him for that as does my wife. I always look forward to class and never regret any money spent ... even on a fixed budget totally worth it. Thanks Coach Brayn for being there.

My kids have grown in so many ways by being a part of this gym and the life lessons and skills they learn on and off the mat here will forever be a part of them. The kids program is hands down the best in the city. We have been a part of two other gyms before and there is no comparison to community, care and students here at 10th planet. Coach Morgan and his team of coaches run a world class kids program that is not only technical but fun. The mix of drills, skills training and sparring with a mix of games in between keeps the kids engaged and happy. The community of parents and kids is solid gold. The caliber of kids that come here bring a sense of skill, passion, and it's like a small family. The engagement from the adults who train here as well as the owners and coaches creates such a family atmosphere. The head coach of the kids program Coach Morgan brings such a high level of jujitsu but most of all really cares for the students and families as if they were his own. The level of patience and care from the coaching team is unmatched. They have Ninja nights where they run games, mini competition brackets, movies, pizza and more games is an absolute blast for the kids but also provides parents a night off. It builds comradery among the kids and allows them to play with each other outside of the gym setting. The gym, the staff, the quality of training and the members make this a truly special place.

I've been a member for about a week now. I really like this gym because they have a fighter gym…read moremindset which is how I'm used to training as I've done martial arts for years. Some things I wanna highlight that I enjoy is the variety of classes, the classes themselves, and the coaches. There's a variety of classes to include Boot Camp, strength and conditioning, Muay Thai/kickboxing, MMA, judo, jujutsu, etc. The gym is also open every day of the week for about 10+ hours a day on most days. I like the flexibility of being able to come here on my own schedule either to take a class or to trained by myself. A bonus for Portland, is there is free parking available to include a parking lot and street.

BEWARE OF SHADY BUSINESS PRACTICES! Reporting to the BBB…read more In total my two visit experience will cost me $432.00. Unfortunately it looks like I got the short end of the stick here and want to help people in the future avoid the same treatment from the owner and to be extremely careful before signing a contract with this gym. The owner refused to assist with my cancellation and made promises that management would reach out to help with cancelling and they never did so my card keeps getting charged. He later stated that legally he is not required to have his management help me with cancelling and that its all in my contract. Mind you this was 90 days ago... True - but I never got a copy of my contract until THIS MORNING, but I'm being told the following things: At first the owner stated that I was automatically sent the contract when I signed it and all the details are in it. I showed him screenshots that I never got the contract when I signed it. He later stated that I verbally refused to get a copy of the contract which is lie. He then later stated that it was a glitch in his contract software and that I should reach out directly to them on their behalf to see what happened since its all automated. Again, extremely shady business practices. To go from: 1. Saying I got it when I signed it. (I didn't and emailed him proof). 2. Saying I denied a copy of it (why would I do that) 3. Saying its a glitch in their system and that I should contact their vendor. I've never been asked to do something like that... that alone just exposes his lack of care a bit... The problem is that the owner kept trying to bully me into cancelling in person at the gym when in reality I could've just sent a handwritten letter via certified mail. I would've known that sooner (and $180 earlier) IF his manager would've called me as promised. But when I didn't get the call and saw the recurring charges the owner just brushed it off and said he wasn't legally bonded to having his manager ever call me. I thought that was all just weird. He has no humanity or common decency he just kept saying "look at your contract". Well how can I do that if I never got a copy? How can I do that if your manager doesn't call or email me when you say he is going to do so? How can I do that if your system didn't send me a contract, or I verbally refused a copy, or your system had a glitch? Just a bunch of lies to try to scrape peoples hard earned money. Stay away from gyms and owners like this! They are just shady business practices that shouldn't be allowed in 2025. Now for the experience that ties it all together and why I'm cancelling: 1. 1st day / 1st class was conditioning. I actually really liked it! At the end I was told there was a parking lot next door we could park at. Pick any space cause the entire lot is theirs. So I decided to go again tomorrow! 2. The very next day what I was NOT told is that you cant park in the "reserved" spaces because those were for coaches. The owner Jaycob was upset that I was in a "reserved" coaches spot. I just thought maybe they were "reserved" for guests / anyone allowed to use the lot. Again the day prior I was told the entire lot is theirs and park anywhere. I apologized and immediately moved my car. Mind you this is my second time at the gym in two days. So for the next 1.5 hour striking class in small group of 5 people the owner Jaycob didn't say a single word to me or give me any striking advice as a completely new beginner. Can you imagine how uncomfortable and awkward that is over a silly parking mistake? As two adults that was extremely unprofessional and speaks volumes on the fragility of ones ego. After that - I refused to come back. That's why I refused to come in person to sign and cancel. Two months later (this morning) I finally got my contract and found out I can just cancel via a certified letter in the mail. HILARIOUS experience! Stay FAR FAR away.

This is a fantastic training environment, where standards are uncompromisingly high, but students of all levels are met where they are and helped along, with nobody ignored or excluded. The vibe couldn't be less toxic. I'm an older, injury-prone guy, and I feel lucky to experience legit, high-intensity rolls in a setting where I trust my training partners to be safe, because that is part of the culture here. Oh, and my son loved Hannah's and Eddie's superb kids' program, which is no babysitting service, but delivers authentic skills instruction in a fun, supportive environment. Finally, for those looking around at schools, I'd advise looking for a few green flags- rates transparently posted on website, pressure-free trial classes, no sketchy contracts, no requirement to purchase branded uniforms, no bs. Honestly, I love jiu jitsu but it's not for everyone, and I wouldn't advise anyone let themselves get talked into a big financial commitment before getting the chance to try it out a bit.
