Wow has it been 11 years now that I have been coming to this place. I stop coming here during Covid. There have been a lot of changes since then especially with new staff and they close a little bit early. But still their breakfast is one of the best in selection that I have tried. I do recommend the burgers and the grill cheese. Look out for their selection of deserts they have a pretty good selection too. The vibes here among the owner and staff has shears been good. That is all. Chief Ships sink because they take on water don't take on water for those that want to sink you.

This is listed as a coney island, but it is more elevated than the traditional cony island. The food is good and they serve nice portions. The menu is also vast. They have so many choices for breakfast. Their salads are huge. You will leave full. The atmosphere looks newer and modern. Service was good. The prices are average.

So much more than a basic coney. Beautiful salads, wide range of pancake creations like pineapple upside down cake and cinnamon roll. Fast, friendly service, very clean with an upscale modern interior. Added to my lunch spot list when life takes me out to Novi.

Location - Athenian is WEST of where the map shows.

Great breakfast- Extra fast! Western Omlette was great, and it arrived in just 10 minutes. The entire staff was helpful- and helping each other. I was very impressed. Note: yelp map is off- go WEST about 1/4 mile to Athenian- on north side.

Big burger, with egg and corned beef

The family and I visited Athenian sometime last week and I was very impressed. The place was about 70 percent full and they still had some social distancing guideline in place. We got seated in about 10 minutes and just in times as A line formed outside just as we were seated. The food arrived extremely fast, like 5 minutes after the waitress left, our salads arrived and about 3 minutes after that the food arrived, all of it. The waitress was friendly and attentive. The food was pretty good, fries were great, moist and crispy. My burger was really good but I could tell that if I ate it alone it was just a tad bit dry. I ordered it medium and it arrived well done. Although it was a bit dry, it was still pretty good as it had a good flavor and of course a sunny side up egg and corned beef on top is going to help your moisture problem. But I definitely enjoyed the food overall, and I will return to try out the breakfast menu and other items.

Our nostalgia of Detroit coney islands brought us in and the food did not disappoint. The portions are large and food is delicious. I got the gyro which was perfection! I especially like the tahini sauce. The Greek salad and lentil soup were good too. The service was top notch and they consistently checked in on our large party. Athenian is located in a busy shopping plaza with ample parking. Great lunch spot that is super budget friendly. Would come back here next trip for sure!

Greek salad with grille chicken and pita bread

Went there 3 times, 2 for breakfast and once for lunch. The breakfast was just ok. The prices are quite high in comparison to the final result. the taste was just average, nothing standing out. Tried few items from their menu, omelets, pancakes, eggs and French toast. The best part of all was the sourdough bread and the coffee, this one is really good. Lunch was much better than breakfast. We got a Greek salad and grilled chicken with a side of pita, and the gyro with fries. The portions were very good and everything tasted good. The service was just ok, nothing stood out.

Was looking for a…read moreplace that wasn't too over the top as we really wanted some basic breakfast stuff and ended up here. AMBIENCE - I'd say this was a nicer version of your typical Coney. A good 20-25 tables, not great for huge groups, but a good size no doubt. This place was packed, though that should have been expected on a Sunday morning. SERVICE - our server was friendly and attentive. We had a baby dining with us and she seemed to take a shining to the little one - always a nice touch. MENU - this place is only open until 2-3pm, so they primarily focus on breakfast items and I would say lighter lunch fare such as salads and sandwiches. The breakfast selection was pretty diverse though, including a number of breakfast bowls, benedicts and omelettes to choose from. FOOD - My wife got the salmon benedict, while I opted to try their Breton Bay Poutine which was short ribs with scrambled eggs, cheese, cripsy onions and gravy over fries. We also tried the creme brulee french toast, which we shared with the table. My wife liked her benedict and my poutine was good, though I feel like the description of the item was better than the execution. It was still good, though I think my expectations may have been too high on this one. The creme brulee french toast was not at all what I imagined. It seemed somewhat like a slice of tres leches cake, and was about as big as a slice. I would not get that again. OVERALL - good not great. I can appreciate that this place had some creative options while not breaking the bank. Good if you're in the area already, though I'm not sure I'd make a special trip out to this place. It was small and cozy feeling, and service was attentive, warm and friendly. Eggs Benedict is one of my favorite dishes, and love when a menu offers many Benedict choices. I went with the Florentine, and it did not disappoint. My husband had the Mediterranean omelette (which of course I tasted)... very tasty! We subbed our hash browns for a corned beef hash and pancakes, both delicious! The potatoes in the hash were nice and crispy, and loved the fluffy pancakes. What could of been better: * The homemade corn beef hash just dint have the right ratio- very potato heavy. Wasn't bad, just more like hashbrowns with corn beef added. Why haven't I tried here sooner?…read more Toasted oaks is located inside of the renaissance hotel located by 12 oaks mall parking lot. There is an entrance for just the restaurant which makes it easier to enter. There is also close parking next to it. I had no wait on a Friday evening, which I'm sure isn't common, but I was also there about1 hour 30 minute - 2 hours to closing so it could be why. I was still given great service and a wonderful cooked dish. I ordered a mocktail (virgin spring in wing) that had was supposed to have smashed strawberries. I barely tasted the strawberry (I did not have some in the drink) as the soda water overpowered everything thing else. I probably should have said something, but I didn't. If I order next time I will. There were many great things on the menu, but I opted for the bone in pork chop. While I waited I did ask if they had bread service and they have corn bread. First I was like "hmmmm idk". Once it came to the table I loved it. I usually don't butter my corn bread, but I tried their butter with it and I enjoyed the pairing. It was perfectly cooked well enough how pork should be, but still tender so it wasn't dry. It had this whiskey sweet fruity glaze over it which was delicious. I would have preferred it on the side, but that's just a personal preference. The green beans weren't soggy, they had a slight crisp to them. A great flavor. I opted out of the loaded baked potato and just got a plain with butter , sour cream and chives. Overall for what I ordered I didn't think the price to be too unreasonable. However, this place can get pricy with other things on the menu. Their menu might also change because I seen photos of this place and those items weren't on the menu. I would come here again for a dinner alone, with my spouse and even with friends.

We had started off with a mixed board charcuterie board which held an assortment of different cheeses, meats, breads, and veggies. This board was underwhelming; for $20, it felt poor quality-wise. The breads felt stale, and the vegetables were sad and tasted horrible. Putting aside the negative comments and the absolutely blazing campfire behind my seat, my service was amazing. We had Rayna Rose serve us, and she was so kind, friendly, and beautiful. She showed professionalism while providing a comforting tone and attitude to the total environment. While observing her with other tables, I saw that she not only treated everyone with the same kindness and respect but really put her best effort into her work and service. After around 30 minutes of waiting, our entrées came out. I ordered their signature Oak burger, and my sister ordered the sirloin entrée. My burger came out with soggy buns, stale fries that weren't crispy, and ketchup that was average. My sister's sirloin was bland, dry, and the balsamic glaze made the overall dish sour, and not in a good way. We were able to finish the soggy burger as a team, but the sirloin was unbearable. Overall, I give this place a 5/10.
