My fiancé and I moved an hour and half away on September 19th. We went in person to our gym late August/early September to cancel & let them know we are moving on that date. They told us the last payment would be September 20th. They wanted proof of an address change, which we would not have until after we closed on our house on the 9/19 and get the usps proof through the mail. I signed a cancellation form stating we are moving and the last payment would be 9/20. I received my usps proof change of address in the mail, and immediately sent it to their gym iPhone they told me to send it to when I received it in the mail. The manager, Yari, called me a few days later saying that now i have to sign another cancellation form and a payment in October would come out. I explained her that was incorrect. She clearly does not understand how the mailing system works. Completely useless manager. I asked for the gym owner contact phone number- left several messages 4 days ago and still have not received a call back. I then emailed the gym manager, Yari, asking for every single document with my signature on it as I will be putting a timeline together. Day 4 and my email is still ignored, which by the way, is illegal to not provide signed documents when demanded. I then sent up a follow up text to the gym iPhone regarding my email. They replied totally unprofessionally. I have provided the screenshot below.

I notified them my card was replaced and that I was canceling my membership in writing. Instead of canceling like any normal business, they kept trying to charge the old card, added late fees, and then told me they add $35 LATE FEES DAILY. I even offered to pay the actual cancellation fee. They refused and demanded almost double in "late fees" just to let me leave. Imagine a gym so desperate for money they have to threaten customers with illegal fees to keep them paying. That's exactly how this place operates. If this is how they treat members on the way out, imagine how they run everything else. There are plenty of gyms in the area with real integrity. This place is not one of them. I even work wayyyy to much to even go to the gym , they have made free money off of me for years and only been a handful of times each year, but still they do this.

But, cold weather means sometimes having to fight the intimidation and basic idea that I don't know much about gym equipment and get in there for some excercise! BodyPlex is my first gym membership, and although I've not tried everything, I'm really enjoying it! The classes are wonderful...a great way to dive in even if you don't know what you're doing. The teachers have been super helpful and encouraging. The seem knowledgable and patient, and are good not to embarrass anyone if they need to make a suggestion. BodyPlex is centrally located in Cartersville which is perfect for swinging by on the way home. It seems clean to me, although I do take my own workout mat to the classes. (The gym mats really stink!) The atmosphere is good, and people really seem to focus on their own workout rather than watching others. Just something to think about: A friend of mine just changed her membership from BodyPlex to Gold's because it is closer to her house. But, she prefers BodyPlex and may switch her membership back.

On top of using the gym facilities here I get one on one sessions here for strength building, and there are even classes administered by the staff. --It's important to know membership cancellation with Anytime Fitness the corporation (ABC Financial Services is their billing agent) is challenging and convoluted, and is lousy with hidden fees. Be aware of that before signing up, and if you want a short term thing, maybe consider other avenues.-- With that out of the way (I've had my membership for around a decade now and still love it, I even moved across the country with it!!), you would be shocked to see the reach of Anytime Fitness though when contrasted with other national gyms (I've been able to use my membership at gyms in Tokyo, Kyoto, and Amsterdam -- it's international babey!!!) so if you're going abroad, Anytime is an absolute boon! No need to completely forgo your routine just because you're travelling!

The gym is really well kept / clean too. I felt like my space was really respected even though I was one of the only women in there at the time. I am a little too small to use a few of the machines but I still got an amazing training session in using free weights and alternate training methods/ other equipment to hit some of the muscles I needed to.
