The wait is insane. It's popular right now but it's really yummy so try to hang in there. The baked goods are fantastic, with limited options. A traditional breakfast of bread, soft boiled egg, some Jane and cheese is all you need. I don't know that it's any superior to some other similar places but it's good! There are blankets for seating by the door and the light airy decor and design is welcoming and cozy. I've avoided going to Atelier September for so long because I heard the queue was unbearable and the service was pretty bad. However, I saw that their Nordhavn branch was relatively empty during weekday morning. I have to say my experience was nothing short of pleasant. Not only was service quite friendly, but their almond pancake (135DKK) was better than I expected. I really enjoyed their famous cream in combination of the pancake, which was crunchy on the outside yet fluffy in the inside. I would say that the blueberry was rather sour, however it's just likely not in season as I noticed the same thing when I got the fruit from grocery stores. Because there were not many people the staff seems very disinterested in taking our order and were talking amongst themselves. When food was being prepared, I watched one of the workers lick his finger after it had butter on it and continue working. We ordered the almond pancakes, a piece of sourdough, grapefruit, avocado toast, and a matcha. Everything tasted very fresh, but the only really special thing was the blueberry compote. In the front, is a medium-sized dining room with window seating and a few tables. Out front are a few sidewalk tables. My friend and I went in October on a Wednesday when they first opened at 7:30 a.m. There was already a line, but we were able to get two seats at a long community table to enjoy our lattes and breakfast. My avocado toast was beautiful and tasted good. My friend enjoyed his yogurt with zucchini jam (more like pickled thin stripes of zucchini). Despite the good experience, the food wasn't life-changing. Since many friends and reviews alluded to that, we left a little disappointed. Infuriatingly good looking Copenhageners hang out here. That should be enough reason for you to come by ;-) The only thing that will distract you from people watching will be the cool space. A wall with wine bottles in the shelf, the large communal midcentury table, open kitchen with vintage pieces. The back seems to be a gallery that sells contemporary furniture and lighting. I dig it. Since it was warm out, I really wanted an iced drink. I love matcha so the iced matcha tea was the perfect choice for me. I like that they serve this as is, without any sweeteners so I can really taste the vibrant vegetal quality of the tea. Their Koppi coffee (noisette style) is served black with a tiny milk amount of milk froth. Delicious. Located on Gothersgade, it's within spitting distance of Kongens Nytorv, Nyhavn and the Magasin. I was sick of my hotel breakfast since they were serving the same exact thing every day, so I popped into Atelier September to change it up. I had a delicious Japanese matcha, the matcha was of the highest quality and made correctly. I also enjoyed the soft boiled egg, rye and cheese. Serving lunch and breakfast daily, a 07h00 opening on Weekdays and later on Weekends with closure each day at 16h00, it was after being told of the large party that a chair was secured at the window before placing an order, the Croissant immediately taken to the seat and pulled apart with layers crackling and crumbs raining down, the interior buttery and soft with arching caverns of lamination. Enjoying Bread and Butter for the second time that morning, the housemade Rye as good as any in town and all the better with Danish Butter so fresh that beads of water came to the surface as it was cut, fans of Comte will be glad to know Atelier September uses wheels aged for greater than 24-months, the crystals not yet forming but the flavor pleasant and nutty just as it was in the Granola atop Cows-Milk Yogurt topped in Sugar-preserved Squash and a light dusting of Matcha powder. read more

I really liked this place and could see myself being a regular if I lived in Copenhagen. Their avocado toast is not to be missed and everything else I saw being served around me looked fantastic and made of quality ingredients as well. The atmosphere is nice as was the service. The kitchen area is behind the counter and looks like it was transported directly from a home in the country. The rest of the space feels like part art gallery, part wine rack. It all works, but it is small so just be mindful that you may have to wait for seating to open up. Back to the avocado toast. In addition to avocado, it is comprised of lemon zest, crushed red pepper, fresh chives, sea salt, and olive oil drizzle all on top of some great rye bread. It is so simple, yet so delicious. The one in Copenhagen is good, but a little bit of a walk from the center (not bad though I didn't mind). The food is good (the sourdough bread is the best i've had) but quite simple. First off, the service here is incredibly slow but that's because they are understaffed. Second, this place gets packed after 10 am so come before. My boyfriend and I came here on a Saturday morning for breakfast and we were able to be seated immediately but the place got completely full shortly after. You order up front and pay later when you are done. They have an English menu available as well. We ordered the soft boil egg with cheese and bread, avocado toast, zucchini jam and match yogurt, grapefruit with blueberries and granola, and two cafe cremes. The cafe cremes came first and they were HUGE and came in a bowl. Shortly after our food came and everything was beautiful. I really enjoyed the avocado toast because there was so much avocado and the spices that they sprinkle on top were delicious. The zucchini jam and match yogurt was really out of this world. Zucchini jam sounds weird but it was delicious. My boyfriend really enjoyed his egg dish because the bread was delicious but for someone who is French, he found the egg to be slightly overcooked. The grapefruit was extremely sour but the granola was delicious. Paying for the meal took ten minutes since the cashier guy was sooo busy trying to help cook in the open kitchen. It was kind of annoying how we had to wait forever to pay. Our total meal came out to about 450 dkk which is pricy but makes sense for Copenhagen. One of the more unique cafes I visited during my time in Copenhagen. The place has a very hipster/simplistic but homey feel to it and the layout is unique with a few common dining tables and a small workspace kitchen in the front. Filled with beautiful locals and serving up rustic breakfasts and lunches in addition to tea, coffee and juices. I opted for the pumpkin soup and was not 100% in love with the flavors (dill?) but loved the homemade rye bread that accompanied it. My friend got the avocado toast which immediately gave me FOMO after I tried it - yum! The windows fog up heavily in the winter giving it a cozy vibe and the place is relatively small so not good for group meet ups. Yum! This is the sweetest little vegetarian spot ever. We arrived just before it opened (on bikes, of course) and saw a small group of people waiting. As we were allowed inside, we all rushed in to grab tables. I started with the fresh citrus juice, which was a v. tart grapefruit juice, and ordered the avocado toast. My sister ordered the same and my dad went for the rye bread with a soft boiled egg and comte cheese. The rye bread was amazing and the avocado toast was beautiful and delicious. I loved the fresh lemon zest and chili sprinkled on top. I have to say that even though our meal was enjoyable, we were lucky to have gotten there early and to put in our order early. This is a very cozy hipster cafe. If you thought the ones in San Francisco or New York were hip, this takes it to a whole new level. Seating space is super tight so you might have to wait for a seat and are definitely going to sit next to people. I got the open faced sandwich and a glass of the house made soda. Let me just start by saying that I had high expectations for this place after having seen it featured on several blogs, travel guides, and Instagram feeds. Lucky for me, this cafe was right around the corner from where I was staying, so I managed to make a trip even in the bad weather I was oh so lucky enough to encounter during my short trip to CPH. But in general, the location is pretty awesome -- close to the famous Nyhavn port and the major shopping streets, so it's easy to stop in for breakfast to start your day or to refuel after some sightseeing. I ordered a cappuccino, my friend ordered a pot of Hojicha tea, and we got the avocado toast to share. I wish we were hungry enough to have tried multiple dishes, but the toast itself was totally satisfying (albeit more suitable for a warm day instead of a rainy/snowy one). Everything was served in a manner that was so aesthetically pleasing that you just can't help but smile while you eat. The highlight of this place for me was definitely the decor. The interior is minimalistic and easy on the eyes, and my friend and I were joking that we'd want our future homes to look just like it (I say 'joking' but we were quite serious). We ended up sitting inside for a while even after we finished eating to avoid going back out in the cold, and it was just so cozy! We came in the early afternoon, after the normal lunch hour, but we still had to wait for seats to open up, since the space is preetttyyyy small. The crème is one of the best coffee i have ever tasted. As for a person dont drink coffee without sugar, i can finish all of it without sugar! So smooth that taste like drinking silks! . Atelier September transcends being labeled as a hipster cafe-it's truly the epitome of "quality over quantity". I had the soft-boiled egg with rye bread and butter, grapefruit & blueberries with granola and a coffee. Highly recommend their avocado toast. The service is a little bit slow but the presentation comes so beautiful that you realized what took them so long. The place us really easy to find in a very centric area of the city so it's perfect to grab breakfast, start your day and go explore the city. I believe that have a fix menu, mainly breakfast and snacks but eventually they have a lunch special. While their avocado toast on rye, the dish that many food bloggers/magazines recommend, was ok, the service left much to be desired. They were more preoccupied hanging out with friends than making our food as we had to wait at least 40 minutes for an avocado toast and toast with egg and asparagus and juices! This place is extremely beautiful. That has to be said, it has great interior decoration, simple and clean and the coffee is really nice. They have a bit of a minimalist concept I think and have teas that arent usually sold, like matcha tea (although for 75kr... bit steep!) They have a little bit of a breakfast/lunch option with avocado toast, fancy yoghurts etc but very small selection (which is part of the charm). The negative thing is that the place is SO small, there's barely anywhere to sit and there is NO bathroom, which I am not entirely sure is a great place. You have to go up really cheap stairs to get in so I don't think it is very child or handicap friendly but if you want to go to a really hipster and beautiful cafe I would suggest going here! read more

Somewhere...somewhere I read that Atelier September is THE place to get matcha green tea. I don't know if matcha isn't easily accessible to Danish people, but my friend and I were appalled that it cost ten dollars (70 kr) for a cup. I asked the guy if it was a matcha latte and he answered, "No, just matcha. I think, milk ruins it." He made it sound so grand that my friend and I were fools and each ordered one. Fools! It was just like a cup of matcha that I could have blended at home. I really don't mind spending money when traveling if the food is worth it but this was not the case. We then ordered hard boiled eggs and their bread and butter. Our other friend ordered oolong tea but that was a normal price of about 3.50 dollars and she said it was fine. So the eggs and the bread and butter were very lovely and made our experience enjoyable because the place itself is very pretty! The other reviews are right though, you will WAIT for your food.
