As a doula, she is extremely capable, professional, and supportive. When I first connected with Shalin via videochat for a consultation, she instantly made me feel comfortable. I decided to go with Shalin based on how experienced and knowledgeable she seemed, as well as how comprehensive her doula services package was. Over the course of my pregnancy, Shalin visited my house several times to educate my husband and me about the birthing process, evidence-based approaches to birth, and different ways to prepare my body for birth, and to go over my birth plan. The whole process made me feel really prepared for the birth and gave me a greater understanding of what I wanted for the birth. I also appreciated that I got to know Shalin more during the pregnancy so that she didn't feel like a stranger at all. In fact, she is so warm and friendly that she felt more like a friend! She didn't push any particular views on me but wanted me to feel supported in my birth preferences.  When I went into early labor, Shalin was very responsive and kept checking in on me to see how labor was progressing, and when we decided to go to the hospital, she was super quick to meet us there. She was prepared in every way and set up lights and candles for the room. The hospital room was a vibe and very peaceful! Since I gave birth in a hospital setting, it was also important to me to have someone who could help advocate for me. When my hospital care team asked me to do certain things, Shalin checked in with me to see if I wanted to proceed with what they were asking. During the labor, she suggested different laboring positions and did counterpressure and other comfort measures, which helped me tremendously in coping with the pain. With Shalin's help and support, all my birth preferences were met! I had such a positive, empowering labor - something I never would have thought possible after my first delivery experience (without a doula).  I loved having Shalin as my doula and I highly recommend her! I can't stress enough how having her as my doula made such a difference to my second delivery experience. I am so happy with how everything went and really couldn't have done it without Shalin!

Tara has a way about her that makes you feel at ease, taken care of, and like you've known her for decades. She brings such a strong level of expertise as she has witnessed hundreds of births and been a doula for over 16 years. This is ultimately why I chose to hire Tara out of the many doulas that came recommended by my provider. Again, best decision ever. Since this was my first pregnancy, there was so much unknown for both myself and my husband. My plan was to have an unmedicated birth. However, I was not prepared for how hard that would be. My labor lasted about 20 hours and I can not even think about what I would have done without Tara. Once Tara arrived at my home she immediately started putting me in different positions during my contractions, a couple hours into active labor she knew my baby was in a challenging position and needed to make a rotation. This was intense, but Tara knew exactly what to do and when we needed to leave for the hospital. I could cry thinking about the incredible support she gave me during the most challenging/painful hours of my life. Because of Tara my baby ultimately did make that rotation and I delivered her without an epidural. I also had great support from my midwives and my husband. I can only imagine anyone who doesn't feel completely supported by their midwife/OB would need Tara even more! After my baby was born Tara stayed with me and helped me breastfeed. This led to a successful latch and easier breastfeeding journey for me and my baby. Again, I do not think this would have been possible without Tara. A few days after my birth Tara came over again and helped me further with breastfeeding and overall baby care. I felt such a closeness to her and I have so much gratitude for her support. I trust her completely and hope and pray that she can support any future births I have.

Would I recommend her? Absolutely yes!

Painful isn't enough to describe the experience. Pregnant with my second son, I didn't want to repeat the experience. Knowing I am likely birth fast again, I wanted to go without pain meds again, with as much help I can get, and natural birth of the planceta. I reached out to Tashina pretty late in my pregnancy. Knowing my situation, she responded to my email right away and managed to squeeze me into her schedule. She did a very thorough interview with me and my husband, fully understood what experience we are looking for and made amazing recommendations. She recommended me with a hospital I wasn't aware of that has great staff and with midwifery care. Since I was late stage pregnant (32+weeks), she pulled all her strings to help the new hospital accept me as a patient. And all the way up until the delivery date, she was only one text/call away for any questions I had. The birth was still painful, but with the midwifery care, Tashina's preparation with me and my husband, the hot tub setup, and her being there as my advocate, the birth was quick, smooth, and no manual extraction of placenta! My second son was almost 8lbs and no tear or stitches. Even weeks after birth, Tashina came visit and always checked in with me to help me with breastfeeding issues, baby colic issues etc. Tashina is so knowledgeable, caring and loving. We will always appreciate her help and she will always be a special person in my second sons life!

I had to have two ECV's performed around the time of my due date because my baby kept turning breech. Because of the small chance of having to start labor or perform a C-section after the ECV, Brooke attended these appointments with me or was on call just in case something happened! She was a huge emotional support to my husband as well! Thank you thank you Brooke!

They are truly Masters of their craft. Theyre very good with communication, taking care of the newborn and just overall good people. I don't think I've met a kinder group of people. You could really tell that they put their hearts into what they do. It's not just a job to them. They are here to help mothers get through the most difficult time after childbirth. I could see the struggles my wife was going through, and I did my best to help, but I knew that it wasn't enough. Rebecca and her staff provided that extra edge we needed to help out my wife. Our friends recommended RRDS after having used them for their two kids two separate times. Our experience was fantastic. Originally, we had only planned to use them for 6-8 weeks postpartum, but we ended up using them for about 4 months. Our initial doulas were Tracy and Stephenie, and we absolutely loved their help, expertise, and kindness. They helped me immensely during my c-section recovery, taught us so much about newborns, and ended up being such a great resource throughout our entire time with them. As time went on, Tracy and Stephenie stepped back a bit due to other commitments to new families, and we were introduced to several other doulas for the remainder of our relationship with RRDS. Everyone was great and communicative, and we really felt like we were in good hands with each of them. There were a few hiccups along the way, but Rebecca and the doulas handled it all with grace and understanding. We have already talked about using RRDS again with our next baby.

Here is our Birth Story and experience with Cambridge Midwifery My husband and I found out we were pregnant with our 3rd child while living out of state. We knew already we would be moving at some point during my pregnancy back to Sacramento CA because of work, but didn't know if I would only be a few months or closer to 8 months pregnant. When I called and talked to Christie for the first time it was like I was talking to my sister or like a very close friend. She was so friendly, warm, and understanding of our situation. Right away she wanted to help us and support us in our pregnancy and the moving process. I knew before hanging up the phone that I had found the perfect midwife to go with us on this journey. Christie really takes the time to get to know all her mamas on a personal level. Before meeting in person she was already 100% devoted to providing the best care for me during this pregnancy. We called and texted back and forth for over a month while we were still living out of state and in the moving process. Finally we were back in CA and I started my prenatal appointments with Christie. Every appointment she showed how much she cared about taking care of you and your baby. She would answer any questions my husband and I had and she is extremely knowledgeable about over all health and pregnancy and taking a very natural approach, and never rushing through appointments. She wants you and your baby to be happy and healthy throughout pregnancy and birth. Each home visit was so much fun. My two other daughters ages 1 and 3 loved helping her and asking questions. My 3 year old has a special draw towards midwifery care and Christie noticed that and went out of her way to talk to her and explain what she was doing during my appointments and would let my daughter help with it all. My husband and I loved this because it brought the family together to love and support my growing belly and our 3 year old learned so much and continues to talk about becoming a midwife when she is big. Now onto labor, it slowly built up the few weeks leading up to delivery and no matter what time it was Christie was there answering my calls and text when I was unsure about something going on. June 31st when my labor started Christie came over and checked on me and the baby and everything was well, she then came back that night and did a second check and then left to let us sleep and get ready for delivery soon. That night/morning at 12am I woke up and things where getting real. We called Christie and she was quick to answer and on her way to us. When she arrived her and my husband got the birth tub set up and all the supplies ready. When she was setting up she was so quiet and comforting allowing me to continue laboring with out interruption, but giving me the peace of mind knowing she was there to help if needed. When she came over to me to get me into the tub and she placed her hand on my back it was a feeling of warmth, comfort, and so supportive. It gave me reassurance that my body and baby know what to do and to let it natural bring him into the world. During contractions Christie and my husband stayed right there next to the tub the whole time rubbing my back and hips helping and supporting me with their words of encouragement and reminding me to breathe low and deep and to go with the contractions to bring him down low to come out. This made my birth very empowering, more relaxing, and had such a trusting, caring, and loving feel from everyone. We were so happy and pleased with Cambridge Midwifery. When we are expecting again we will not hesitate to call her again to have her walk through the next journey of life with us. She is truly amazing at what she does! Thank you so much, The Lanthier Family

Christie did such an excellent job caring for me and my family from the first time we came to her clinic through pregnancy and birth and well beyond the postpartum period. Not only did Christie bring a deep knowledge of traditional midwifery care, but also her expertise around nutrition and the natural holistic approach of her practice were what made such a big difference for me in this pregnancy. The prenatal visits were detailed, personal and every discomfort I experienced was met with a suggestion on how to provide relief rather than it being dismissed as another pregnancy symptom. Along the way, Christie made sure to provide options and education for her treatment so I could make the best decision for me and my family. I couldn't have asked for a more positive and empowering home birth experience. Whether it's your first or fourth pregnancy, every woman should have the blessing to experience a natural childbirth and with the support of Christie I was able to do that in the most beautiful way, from the comfort of our home.

She was terrific all the way through. Very low key, there when we needed, super helpful, answered all our questions, reasonable pricing, reliable and most importantly made my husband and me feel sane/like we would totally be able to handle both birth and having a kid. And trust me when I say I am the last person who would feel confident about being able to do that. She actually (at our request) gave us a baby care boot camp - way better getting childcare info from her than from the classes at the hosp. And then she was with us for the whole birth - which we did at the hospital, might I add. She certainly does midwifery and home birthing, but I wanted a hospital birth and just the emotional support. She was terrific. When the doctors/nurses changed shifts, we still had her. When they made suggestions, we had her to ask what they meant/what she thought/advocate for us. When my epidural wasn't working, she pressed on my back and made it a thousand times better. After baby, she came and checked in on us and has been a resource for questions and information. Long story short: she is the best, ever. You should hire her immediately. Unless I am having another baby, in which case I have dibs.

My first labor was pitocin induced and I knew that for my second, I wanted to try to go into labor naturally. She is incredibly knowledgeable, competent and generous with her care- I left my appointments with questions answered that I didn't even know I had. Her advice and support was exactly what I needed to trust the process and have an intervention free birth. She came to the hospital the day of birth to take my placenta for encapsulation. And she is making home visits for the first baby check up- rather than taking a 3 day old baby & post-partum mama back to the hospital. My only regret is that I didn't hire Angela sooner. I thought that I would only ever give birth in a medical facility, but if I have another baby, I would want to home birth with Angela because of the superior level of care and the heart that she puts into her work. I cannot recommend her services highly enough.
