The kids are also able to make friends here in class and at other events like Parent's Night Out, Trunk or Treat, and a holiday party. My son says what he likes most is that he feels that he is learning to protect himself and he gets to make friends. They are very professional and very caring. My husband finally started classes as well and feels it is a great work out. The instructors explain the moves well and the mechanics on how the moves work and manipulate the body. The skills are very useful for self defense and the classes are fun. Other great things are you have access to an online university to help you practice between classes. They also have a team that trains weekly and competes. The facility is also always very clean and it is in a safe area. Lastly, some might think maybe their child might struggle to learn, but they truly work with students on meeting them where they are if necessary. You can also sign up for extra classes or private lessons when they are available.

I don't know how they manage to remember everyone's names, but they all do. They keep things organized while still making it fun, and the sense of community is real. The kids have clearly grown in discipline and focus, while also sharpening reflexes, strikes, and sparring skills. The instructors are friendly, encouraging, and create an environment where kids enjoy themselves but also learn the values and techniques a true dojo teaches. It's been amazing to see the kids' progress--we're happy with this school.

Both meet at the same time as the aikido classes, but in different rooms. aikidoredlands.org They have other classes in aikido, kendo and yoga as well. T'ai chi ch'uan aka taijiquan class meets at 6 PM for group exercise and form. They teach what is called the Old form of Yang Style Symmetrical System. The main teacher also teaches at UC Riverside. At this time there are two teachers, The woman teaching the beginning classes is a former high school teacher and t'ai chi ch'uan competitior teaches the beginning class. She is also a veteran and was a pushing hands champion before she retired from competition. The teacher of the continuing classes is a Master Level teacher who has been studying and practicing t'ai chi ch'uan since 1970. There are several levels of students. Beginners work together. First part of the class are warmup exercises and ch'i kung (qigong) exercises. They are used for flexibility and range of motion as well as traditional health exercises were done. The curriculum is the same as was taught at Loma Linda University Drayson Center in past years. This curriculum was studied by researchers at Loma Linda University and found to significantly improve the balance of seniors and Diabetic patients with Neuropathy. Beginners work together and do basic drills that help their balance as well as learn the first form. The teacher keeps reminding students not to do anything that hurts. Continuing students work in groups and study more advanced forms. The class is one hour. At 7:15 there is an T'a-chi ch'uan Application and Pushing Hands class. That class taught the meaning of the movements in the form. The teacher was adamant that students need to understand what each movement means in order to do it properly. He also teaches pushing hands and sticky hands drills in this class. Small class with mainly advanced students. Low intensity, no falling as most of the people in the class are Seniors.

Sensei Prakash is dedicated to the practice and is passionate about Aikido. He is thorough with his teaching. He cares about his students and gives constructive feedback. I would highly recommend checking out a class.
