It's a quick 30 min. workout with a ton of variety as they switch up each station every day. Highly recommend if you get bored easily at the gym or with the same workout routines!

I never like leaving a review for anything until I have an informed opinion, but this one is almost…read moretwo years overdue. I joined 9Round in the summer of 2021. I was coming off significant back issues and was hungry to get back into shape. I don't like "bro" gyms, and cardio was never my favorite either so I bounced around different places for a couple of months before a good friend recommended I check out the Lumina gym. In a matter of days, I was hooked. The 9Round workout is different from anything I had experienced before. You start with a one-on-one workout with a trainer to get oriented with the program and the stations. Almost immediately, you realize that the three-minute "rounds" go by extremely quickly - the martial-arts-style movements keep it super engaging, and the session is over before you know it. Again, I knew this was for me almost right away. I was clumsy and uncomfortable for a while, but the spirit of the trainers and the other members is very supportive - we're all learning new stuff every day, and we all sweat and grunt and look a little funny at times while we muscle through the workouts. It's a very fun vibe - a little bit Rocky, a little bit Karate Kid (1984), and just a hint of The Matrix. I know kung fu. I was very busy career wise for my first year at the gym, but I tried to make it in 4-5 days per week. Something that the 9Round marketing doesn't convey is the immense stress reduction you get from their workouts. Whatever is gnawing at you at the end of the day melts away after 30 minutes of jumping rope, smacking around a speed bag and running through a trainer drill. Although the program will encourage you to stay "in the yellow" on your heart-rate monitor, I found that the therapy value I get "in the red" was more profound than yoga, meditation, and well... actual therapy combined. I was losing weight, increasing stamina and feeling bloody fantastic. About ten months ago, my wife got jealous of all the fun I was having, and she started joining me for daily workouts. She got the plot even faster than I did and was hooked just as much. I was a little defensive of my guy time in the beginning, but surprisingly, this place is totally wired for couples. We have a blast competing in weekly challenges as well as in trying to embarrass the trainers with our weird sense of humor... All of the members we've met here are friendly, approachable and totally in the zone! Although you're in close proximity, each station feels private - everyone is in their own headspace and their own struggle. The subtext of camaraderie is very cool. All ages, all abilities, we all go all in. This has been a year of big changes for us. It's not totally relevant to this review, but we have had multiple hard losses in our immediate family. At times, everything felt upside down, but the gym was always there for us. After a while, we started going twice per day - once in the morning to get our heads right for the day, and once after work to bring the stress levels back down. I completely credit 9Round for a lot of healing that's happened. Sure, the workout is phenomenal, and you get lots of feelings out on the heavy bag rounds. But the best asset 9Round has going for it is the extraordinary trainers. Every one of the professional trainers we work with at 9Round is knowledgeable, fun, and engaging. They meet you where you are on the workout side and help you to advance and get stronger. On top of that, they are also some of the kindest, friendliest people we've met in Wilmington. There has never been a bad day at the office they can't make better. We consider them our friends as well as our fitness coaches. These folks work hard every day, and we appreciate it very much. I'm in the best shape I've been in since my 20's. For realsies. My diet is probably a B- at best, but I'm down 20 pounds and 10 points of body fat. My back problems are negligible now. This is not an infomercial! Get yourself into the gym, do three or four workouts, and see for yourself if I'm exaggerating. *fist bump*

Mike and Sydney are always very supportive and their staff is always friendly and kind. They are teaching these kids great life skills while having fun. After a few years of my son taking classes here I signed up to take kickboxing classes. A few years later and I am still going every Tuesday and Thursday night and I always feel good after class. The classmates are awesome and supportive as well. COVID has been tough on everyone and Mike and Sydney have stepped up their game. Temps are check, sanitation is taken very seriously, and they strive to make sure everyone is safe and healthy. They offer after a school program and a summer camp program too. Their creativity and their connection to their students is just awesome! Thanks Lion's Crest for everything you do!

My grandson was a member for 4 years, never missed a class, was asked to assist with smaller kids and was the best student they had per both of them. When their nephew started making remarks to my grandson which were in violation of their policy they chose not to address the issue. When my daughter questioned them about this, they still chose to do nothing to their nephew per the guidelines of their facility. My daughter brought the issue up multiple times to them to no avail. They tried to smooth the issue over with her by requesting they meet, at this point my daughter refused as she knew it would not make any difference as they still had not addressed the issue with their nephew. Because she chose not to meet with them, they dismissed my grandson from the facility without any notice, instead by giving a letter to his Dad when he was picked up from class. They refused to let my grandson say good-by to his friends of four years and never spoke to him about being dismissed. I have put multiple reviews of this situation on-line, and Michael and Sydney will respond "that this is a false review" It is not, my grandson was hurt and did not understand why two people he thought so much of would treat him the way they did. What hurt him the most was they didn't even speak to him before dismissing him. My grandson was 11 years old when they treated him so poorly and as mentioned before had been a member since he was 7 years old.
